  • @neoakshay : sorry to hear about the crash buddy. hope you and she both are alright. yeah The first crash will make us feel bad about ourselves , even i had the same feeling. just take it easy and make sure that you don't squeeze through small gaps. treat her like a car in traffic, it would help you to stay away from scratches and fall outs

Regarding the brake pad prices, even i changed my rear brake pad for rs 1115 from perfect riders Bangalore. Hope the prices has not changed

      • Guys, got my R15 back from service.

Here's the pending info I promised:
        1) The Radiator, I couldn't find any visual difference between the old and the new one. Upon checking with them they said that the plates inside have been changed. Dunno further details. May be Yamaha guys found a flaw somewhere or may be the plates are changed to make sure the coolant doesn;t go near the horn mount area or what ever else...

        2) The brake pads. If you love the way R15 brakes, I was suggested to grab the old brake pads before they run out of stock. The new ones, they said are made in Delhi by some local manufacturer. They are hard and don't give that good braking feel + eats off the disc plates is what I was told.

So, those who have got the new pads at lower cost on to their bikes, please post a comparative difference in feel here.

        3) The Yamalube Fully Synthetic has not yet come to Pearl Yamaha byt it could come any moment now as their spares lot is shipped with the Yamalube FS.

        4) My R15's speedo problem is related to the sensor at the front wheel hub. Ran out of stock - awaiting stock in a few days. It might cost about Rs 600.

        5) Clutch bell bush change + lathe machine charges costed me Rs 320.

        6) Apart from the clutch bell bush, my R15's fuel injector nozzles were cleaned. Though I use IFTEX every now & then, that is supposed to keep the nozzles clean, this cleaning act has made a world of difference.

I used to feel a lag in my bike when I compared it to newer bikes that have run below 7K KMs. The crispiness in the throttle response has improved and my bike feels new. Would recommend this to others as well.

The ODO reads 1300, have been riding bit hard at times after crossing 1000. But nothing close to real hard revving. Have not crossed 8500 rpm in any gear. had a oil change to Yamalube 15W50 at 1000kms. The engine sounds bit more metallic at lower revs but the clatter diminishes and almost disappears when revs goes high (still the sound is not same as it was before).

Guys, please throw some light on this issue and share some valuable points if you have come across similar issues
See, you have changed to semi synth oil from mineral oil & that too a bit thicket one. Also, you started revving the bike higher. Two things here - Change in oil character many times makes a difference in the engine beat. And the engine sound keeps changing a little bit from here onwards until it opens up completely. But the sounds I am thinking of would not be the irritating types. If that's not the case, ignore what I said.

You are right about the cost of the speedo sensor, but this is covered under warranty. Get it replaced before the 2 year period lapses.
I too had a malfunctioning speedo meter at 10k, and the problem was the speedo sensor. Got it replaced under warranty.
A couple of other members have also faced issues with the speedo sensor, and had them replaced.

In case you are unable to get it replaced under warranty for some reason, try greasing it (the SVC manger here was mentioning this, and I don't know if it is true/ possible). Might save you 600 odd bucks.

          My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

          • Had a whale of a time last night riding the R15 through heavy rain, knee deep water&not to mention VERY heavy traffic. The bike takes it all with elan!

@krishnakant_r15: I can see moisture droplets in the headlight, but I don't think they come from the front. They might have come from behind. I guess you should take it easy as long as water is not floating inside, don't replace anything. The few moisture droplets will dry on their own.
I see moisture droplets in my speedo assembly too, but that also dries within a day.

@HydBiker: Venkatesha says the manufacturer is the same for the new brake pads as well. I hope the full synth oil is out&the brake pad pricing dispute is also resolved by then. I have 800kms.to go for my next service.
            Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Just got a tankful and the attendant(female) put in too much fuel which came over taking some elements with it, reason to worry?
couldn't even scream at the attendant.

^Does Iftex help? have heard it is basically of no use if the diet is Speed-93.

              • The brake pads are made by nissin, so you can see the embossing on the back side of the pad if its made by nissin or someone else.

As someone else pointed out Orion charges 300 bucks for service. When I asked them what 'service' includes they said washing and general checkup only. The last time I gave my bike to them I told them to change a couple of panels that were cracked. They charged me 150 bucks for removing and reassembling the entire front fairing !

Could you shed some light on this IFTEX thing ?

Also my bike was suffering from vibes for quite a while which I put down to a couple of cracked panels which I got replaced. However even after replacing them there was some amount of vibes which the service centre guys admitted was coming from near the meters. They said some sponge thing has to be put in to eliminate the vibes. Since it was late and I need to go again for the radiator thing next week I agreed to let them do it later. Any clue on this ?

I am not too happy with the SS either. Doesn't seem any different from the Yamalube mineral oil. I guess I will switch back to Yamalube mineral.
Motul 300v is SS or FS? How much?
Hehe, that was sometime back. I dunno the latest rates. 300v is fully synthetic. comes in 2 grades. 15w50 and 10w40. But its expensive. 900 for a litre!

I got the reduced price wala pads last month. No difference man. They're still very much being manufactured in Singapore. I have the pack, it says Yamaha Singapore. And just the numbers stamped at the back of the pads are different. These new ones have the pad dimensions stamped in the back. But I assure you, feel is exactly like the old ones.

No man. AFAIK the pads are made by Yamaha Singapore for bikes there (prolly the FZ150i). Imported for use in India, I guess.

The calipers, braces, pistons etc is made by Nissin.

Notice that there is uneven wearing of the pads. At one end the thickness of the pad is greater than the other end. Is it normal???
