i have a feeling that having done 15.5k on the odo, this would be a tappet issue.
but the mechanics here suggest not to tamper with the tappets unless extremely necessary.
I suppose they haven't done it before and the guy even said that if they do the setting, things might get worse.

What do you suggest i should do? There are only two svcs here and one of them is hopeless.

    urgent help required.
Sounds like tappet to me. Even the SC guys here were suggesting the same to me and were unwilling to do the job [May be because its a time taking job]. I had to push them and they finally agreed to set it. They did a good job then and bike is absolutely fine now.

could it be because i changed to 15W50 FS at 1st service itself?

i had a small crash so the handlebar might be loose, can any1 tell me where the screws are to tighten them?
Check if the Clip ons are Ok and there is no bend. try leaving the handles at 30-40kmph and see if the Bike is going straight and not veering to either side. also you can tighten the cone set which when loose gives vibrations.

Adjust the tappets. If they are unwilling to do then it may be that they don't properly know how to do it. take her to another SVC. it takes time to adjust maybe thats why they are not willing. anyway don't take chances.
also tighten the engine mount bolts which when loose cause vibrations.

        • Guys,

Anyone facing clutch slippage during cold starts?

When I Pull the clutch lever completely and shift to 1st gear I am getting a Jerk, But not seen when the engine is hot.

Plates are replaced 5K Kms ago and no other issue found with clutch, hence I firmly believe its not the friction plates.

I use 300V FS, is that the issue?

          • I need your help Guys .

Today i noticed some things in my bike

            1. When i pull the clutch lever when the bike is in ON condition , " the Engine sound is minimized "

But when i left the clutch , " the engine sound is high "

            2. when i blow the horn and simultaneously when the light is in High Beam means , the Horn tone changes . Any battery problem ?

            3. My Bike Engine becomes harsh after riding at 60 - 80 km/hr inside the city . Why is it so ? The engine beat changes ...

            May i know what's the problem ?

            " Ride Safe "

            Peace

              1) The issue points to Clutch bell/boss. How old is your bike? generally this happens mostly after you cover 15K Kms.
Cutch bell needs reconditioning (the rubber bush will be changed), in Chennai they do it in most of the svc centers, While some ask to replace.
Recondition 350/-, New Clutch boss 3K/-
I did recondition mine at 15K Kms and now it has passed over 40K still running fine

              2) Stock 3.5 Amps Tata Green has not enough Juice for using all electrical at the same time. Its a known issue, use Amaron 5Amps the best fit.

              3) Engine beat should not change thats Yamaha's TM. I have seen Pulsars and Apaches giving ugly revvs after the engine getting heated, while Yamaha engine come to life only after getting heated.

Check with the Service to see if you Bore Piston and Valves are in good condition.

I need to replace my rear brake pads for the first time. I have done nearly 23k kms with them . I changed my front pads many times, and always from a yamaha svc. However since the rear brake pads are inexplicably more expensive than the front, i am wondering what other options i have other than purchasing it from yamaha? I came to know through a friend that aftermarket brake pads are available, i think he was saying its by a brand called 'ask'. Apparently its cheaper. Are there anyother brands offering rear brake pads suitable for r15? Paramount is safety>quality>performance>value for money.

@akshay: Thanks once again. Now i fully understand by what you mean by 'bunched up'. I recollect seeing a couple of idiots do exactly this by fitting fz16 rear on the r15. If not for you i would have been one of them, except i'd be doing it with my front.
                Glad to be of help!

                • hey R15 Owners,

What's the rating of the oil which is being used in R15? If am not wrong, the Yamaha Lube is same as Motul, right?

Yamalube is supplied by Motul with *YamaLube* Label.

                      • Is it necessary to remove the rear wheel to remove the rear disc brake (to change the disc pads) ? Can anyone brush me up on the procedure to do this?

looks good, where you got it from or is it custom made ?

@sunil - without removoing the rear wheel they cant change the pads can be changed. They remove to ensure the fitting and other operations are working fine and it merely is 30 mins job.

                          • I was thinking of replacing the pads by myself. Changed the front pads by myself but got stuck in the rear. Is it possible to change it by oneself or do you recommend to get it changed it at A.S.S?

I used to take my bike to Sri Motors for servicing .. When i complained about the engine beat , the service men says your bike is in good condition .. Nothing to worry is it so ? Does the job related to Bore Pistion and Valves takes several hours to complete or What ?

Thank you very much for providing some valuable information ,,
