Thanks for the reply to the above guys! It was indeed a speedo sensor issue, and the same was replaced under warranty during the bike's 5th Free Service yesterday. FYI, the cost of the speedo sensor is around INR 550.Originally posted by tibby View PostMy bike's instrument console is suddenly acting weird since this morning. It was all fine until about a week ago when I last rode it. The tacho looks fine though, and the issue seems to only be with the digital thing, though the startup check shows all digits.
The speedo doesn't show the correct speed (it is sometimes stuck at 0 for almost 200-300 meters, & shows faulty speeds, for example: it shows a speed of 36 when I'm accelarating from say 46
). Also the odo reading is suddenly not accurate, as I rode from home to office for about 15 kms, but odo recorded only about 10kms
.
Have any of you come across this in the past? Any idea where the issue could be?
I personally think it is an issue with the speedo wiring connected to the front wheel, or maybe it could be something else. What do you think the issue could be?
My bike is due for service this weekend, but was wondering if you guys could help fix it before that.
5th Service details: Bike has done 10k kms till date.
- Moved from Yamalube Synthetic oil (for first 10k kms) to Yamalube semi-synthetic, along with oil filter replacement. The bike & gearshifts feel a lot smoother now (rode for 40kms)..
- Front brake pads are still good, and should do another 2-3k easily. Rear is almost like new, and should last long unless I start using it vigorously.
- Coolant not required to be topped up for last 6k Kms
- Tappets not adjusted, as no performance related issues/ loose marbles sound
No other replacements done. Was my first warranty claim on my bike(s) ever
Now that the the speedo issue is resolved (was kind of funny how I travelled distances on the bike, without she realising /recording it
), the bike rides like a dream
My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

No flushing needed. don;t bother yourself with that thought.Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Postguys what is engine flushing is it necessary since i ve changed from synthetic to semisynthetic.,
They are using it wrong. Mixing with water makes the MotoCool useless... almost!i enquired about the coolant . the svc uses motul moto cool mixed with water.
Indeed!any good car coolant will do the job.
But prefer to stick to the the ready to use ones as mixing water is a hassle for the bike. In a car all you have to do is lift the bonnet up, check levels and mix. It is not the case here. Also, most topups to the coolant tank is like 100 to 150 ml. Where's the scope of mixing?

Pre mix or the concentrate will also do , iv used the concentrate from day 1.
Even in a top up of 150 ml ,add about 70 ml of water and the rest coolant , thats nothing difficult.sigpic

you are a freaking bug and will do everythig needed. that's easy for you.Originally posted by santoosh View PostPre mix or the concentrate will also do , iv used the concentrate from day 1.

How are you doing BTW?
pickup another 6 men from here who can fill the coolant/water into the R15's coolant compartment without using a long tip funnel! tough.
BTW, I have used Castrol's coolant for some time and could feel the difference in the engine heat. The SC usually uses Motul and that time when I complained they revealed that they used Castrol as Motul was out of stock. When I found a MotoCool can in a shop I bought it for myself. I do my topups when needed.

I prefer using car/lorry coolants over the motorcycle coolant.
1. its dirt cheap.
2. Better heat dissipation ability.
Another thing i had to say was , somebody in the forum had posted that the new R15 , clutch plates are coming with FZ's plates. Wrong info.
R15 still comin with Imported R15 plates ,opened one bike myself to check and found imported one.Not FZ's

2. Better heat dissipation ability.yes. Rs 100 a 1L bottle.Originally posted by jd666 View Post^^ remember, car/truck coolant will be thicker in fluidity/viscosity in comparo to the bike coolant. Less smooth circulation thru the radiator/pump.
but there's no special motorcycle coolant. it's all the same. thickness reduces when u mix it as recommended - 70% water + 30% coolant. As such, thickness shouldn't mattter much for flow. the coolant routes are large enough.
u r right. clutch plates in R15 are different & are still imported.Originally posted by santoosh View PostAnother thing i had to say was , somebody in the forum had posted that the new R15 , clutch plates are coming with FZ's plates. Wrong info.

Did u notice the Minda batteries in new R15's?
Discussed the same with yamaha spares guys 3 days back. no yellow cowl available. some customers are asking for it regularly it seems.Originally posted by pranjalshukla View Posti ordered a seat cowl yesterday from a local dealer

you decide that by placing a black cowl n your bike before you buy it.Originally posted by pranjalshukla View Postthen what should i do?
should i go for the black seat cowl??
I haven't seen one like that to even give my opinion. but, my guess is that it won't look that good. The side panel is white and there is no other matching part except the portion below the seat. But that is covered when you are riding.
