what do i do with the bike to make it look like new ? shall i claim my insurance ?

or i have to spend to get all fixed ?

in short i just lost control in speed and that was after the speedometer issue ...

Nimboo Mirchi Lagadeya hai . i hope things go rite .
Well, from how you describe it, the costs shouldn't exceed 3k for repairs, including the speedo sensor. I don't think you should claim insurance for that amount. Just minor scratches and cosmetic damages. Claiming insurance will increase your premium amount for the future and the bike will be known as a crash bike I'd say you get it repaired yourself this time. Major accidents with damage to forks, handlebar, chassis, rims, disc brakes etc (happened to a guy I know) should be claimed insurance for. Such repairs will cost upwards of 30k. This is my personal opinion

Coming to the accident, what did you do that you fell and blamed the speedo sensor? I mean, you were going really fast and didn't know the speed to brake at the right time? Hope you're alright man, ride safe.

    • @free2rock 50: That's the first time i hear someone saying they depend on the speedo to do the braking. That's silly. You should get a good sense of judgement once you've ridden the bike enough. Hope you recover soon. Practice braking and keep your excitement within your senses irrespective of whether your bike's speedo is working or not.
Riding is a way of life. Sometimes, it might also be a way of giving life. So Ride safe. In both contexts.

      • @ironman ,exactly my point , i had a big debate on this with a person on youtube ,who failed to accept that p220 speedo also was a little over- enthusiastic , and he gave me same lame reason that wrong speedo can effect braking and cause accidents, i still somehow fail to digest how can people depend on the speedo for braking.

About the bike , from the looks of it you mite have to change the fairing , but cant say for sure , post a pic , if the fairing is torn , then claim insurance , but check with svc on the cost ect ..

ill check with the svc for the cost and repair .. but my speedometer went bad 1 day before the accident .. so it should be covered in warrant i guess ..

                • Got a call from dealer since the bike i ordered is ready to register
however if anybody has any idea of how much more the new R15 will cost this would help me make the decision now if i should wait or not.
this is the 2nd bike same situation, the 1st i said to pass on to the next customer.

                    • The Michelins do appear nice, so do the Pirellis (even the stock MRF is good).

How is the riding impression guys?

Hardly riding now with the weather dropping below 5'c.

                      Edit--
@neoakshay--Don't look too much into this as long as bike is doing good.
Though get your 15 checked at a SVC where the fellow Bangalore xbhpians recommend. (Don't sweat out much though as the grass is usually green the other side)

                      • I've completed 14,000km on my R15! Bike is 7 months old, and feeling as good as ever.. OR SO I THOUGHT! went for a ride with some Bangalore xBhpians, found that my bike's engine is quite harsh sounding and noisy compared to all the other R15s.. My bike also lacks low-end power. I've taken care of my bike like a baby, and running-in period was done according to the manual. Also, i'm currently running Agip Fully Synthetic Oil. Put this oil in at 11500 km on ODO. Bike's performance is good as i've touched 145kmph on many occasions, and getting mileage of 33 - 42kmpl depending on riding conditions..

I don't know what i need to check.. I know there's a difference between the 2008/2009 and the 2010 bikes, but the difference between my bike and most others is just way too much. feels like a different bike altogether, i mean in a bad way. Its loud, vibey at the footpegs and handlebars. Funny thing is the bike sometimes smoothens out completely, no vibes at all after its ridden for 20km or so.. but the engine is quite loud.

Should i write to Yamaha? anyone knows what the problem could be?
A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

                        • Guys I am very upset today

Some Asshole removed my rear left indicator. The indicator is pulled and the wires can be seen.

I took it to the college and after 1 hour i saw my indicator was missing. Now service centre people are charging me 130 Rs for that

Damn these people man. What do these people get by upsetting others?

You are lucky, me and Saravjit would be charged Rs.2800 if we break our indicators. (even if one of them)

Or even if we break one of the indicator covering plastic!
My front LHS indicator's plastic cover cracked slightly after the fall, but didn't break completely. It is taped up&has remained that way since 2+years.
