oh.....well i get a feeling that the rear brakes are alone not sufficient. is this normal?

It wont be enough if you are going at high speeds. Try applying both brakes with front breaks applied in a manual abs way ( ie, apply and leave then again apply and leave). It is working good for me.

Buddy thats the wrong way of applying brakes... For more info regarding the correct method of applying brakes go through the braking thread in the art of safe riding section!

I wasnt taking about braking with forks moving up and down. Just apply brake once and then the front forks move down. After that do the apply and leave at a higher frequency. I dont know if this is the right way but i guess this is better than just applying all at once. I ve dont that in two situations and both the times, i lost control because of either the back wheel went off the ground or the front skided because of locking. Please enlighten me if I am wrong

Try interpreting the feedback that you get while braking. If you feel like the front is about to skid or the rear is about to lift off then release a bit of pressure off the brake lever till you feel like the bike is under control but never completely release the brakes (use it as a regulator). Even if you continue the apply-leave cycle at a higher frequency it won't make much of a difference.

about the fuel .. m not using Speed or such .. m just using the plain petrol .. BP, IO and HP .. is there any problem if i use BP first and than top up my fuel tank with HP and when HP finishes i top up with BP ??

i would get the spark plug cleaned..
The fuel on the bike is mostly full .. i dont let it reach to the end ..

how can we know if the fuel is not proper ? and here in mumbai even if i get all my fuel removed by the svc guy .. the petrol pump would not give me in a bottle..

                  thanks
The idle rpm is 1300-1500 rpm...get it adjusted....as far as possible use a trusted pump and stick to it...
Request either the svc or the fuel pump to give you petrol incase you get the tank cleaned..

No need to wait till 19th, get the problems addressed ASAP as they seem to be serious and may cause further complications...

If you feel then replace the tires with the stock ones..you may also try pirelli..but stick to the dimensions...

                  • Had a karizma guy riding real fast and was quite ahead of me..I took speed, overtook him...later at the signal we took off together...without redlining in any gear, shifting at 8k I took the lead...while he even downshifted from 3rd he couldn't overtake me...after reaching 115 he was hot on my tail...but as I knew my limits, I slowed down as it was getting dangerous...
Was really pleasantly surprised at the ease with which a 150cc bike screwed the 225cc bike...really proud....

                      Glad to know it helped.
Handlebar vibrations could be due to loose steering bolts, and/or due to loose clip-ons. Get them tightened.
All our bikes have vibrations somewhere or the other, and a little of it is manageable. A vibe-free R15 is a myth according to me, unless its just out of the factory.

There could be something loose lying in the fairings. Maybe you should open the fairings using the allen keys provided in the toolkit & check.

                      My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Thanks for replying my query! i was getting a little paranoid about my brakes....
i have heard of people using this technique for applying brakes. One of my friend's calls it 'pumping', and im not sure if that is the best way to make use of your brakes....but everybody has their own style and are used to it......
I simply vary the pressure i apply on my levers, as the requirement increases for stopping i gradually increase the pressure, then ease up on them. Dont apply your brakes all at once until and unless the situation demands.

                        • ^^ Thats the way it should be done, pumping is dangerous, we shouldn't try to imitate the workings of ABS. Read it in the braking section yesterday and got to check it within an hour, go check it out
The only thing standing in your way, the ONLY thing you can count on, at any given time.. Is YOU

Infact I have booked both the bikes having not been able to decide. I am to get the CBR in the first lot hopefully next week. But still I have not made up my mind It is not easy for me to let R15 go off my mind. I sometimes feel the CBR should have been announced a little later this year and I would have happily bought R15 in January this year

                            • pumping is what you do when you are actually in a skid, to stop an incidence of wheel lock, it applies to cars, on two wheels the outcome could be different, maybe someone more experienced could step in.ABS doesn't do anything until you're braking is compromised and the wheels are likely to lock up, in normal braking conditions there will be no difference between the same vehicle with or without abs, which is contrary to the view of our desi automotive media, they don't give correct information.

Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

then go for both of them! when you feel like touring with a pillion take the CBR, when you feel like going solo, take the R15!
