Hey Buddy, did you happen to find any solution to this problem? My bike gave me the same trouble and I took it to the free servicing camp at Pearl Yamaha n they just cleaned the air filter n other stuff n complained that the petrol had water in it!! But changing the Petrol didn't help!!Originally posted by kumarvaradarajulu View PostDear Friends,
Couple of days ago, I serviced my R15 at Orion, Bangalore.
Changed Spark plug to Iridium, Air filter and few other stuff.
Now all of a sudden, my bike switches off after say 5km of ride and wouldn't start.
In this case, if I park the bike under a shadow, after 20 minutes it starts.
I am going to check with Orion on why this happens. But am sure the SC guys will just do nothing and return the bike.
So, If you guys know what things are to be checked, then I could press those SC guys to check those parts.
Appreciate your feedback! Thanks for reading the post.
BTW, I am from Hyderabad...any other hyderabad R15 owners facing the same problem?

Hi fellow xbhpians ....
This is the first time I have joined such a wonderful community. I got my R15 2 days back.
Here's some pics of my new red hot R15 :

I bought this beauty from Yamaha Factory Shop , Wakdewadi Pune. I booked the bike on 27 April and got delivery on 24 May . Almost a month (could not even sleep properly during that month). But I was unsatisfied by this delay. I think I should have got delivery within max 20 days. Worth waiting though.
Another thing is ,those people kept my bike in showroom (as a show piece) also (it didn't had any id but I am damn sure). I could see such R15s in showroom which had a tag "SOLD" on them when I booked my bike. Irritating when people touch, seat on the bike for which you have paid 1.1 Lac :-(
Too good bike. I realize now why its price tag is so high. But worried about few things :
1) Experiencing some wrist pain when I drive (hope that will be gone after some time)
2) I hear some weired sound when I down shift gears.
Is this sound usual for a new bike ? Which chain oil is good for R15 (my friend is suggesting me Motul) ?
Also the front disk brakes are not so sharp. The showroom guy said it will be fine once I use it.
How many kms should I consider as running in period? What speed and RPM limit should I keep while I am in Running is period ?

As per your queries:
1.- you need to get used to sitting posture and make sure that you dont put your body weight on your hands , which I think you doing resulting in wrist pain. Your body weight needs to be on your butt and thighs.
2.- What weird sounds are you hearing while downshifting??? be a little more specific it will help us to clarify the problem.
3.- From the SVC you can buy Motul Chain Lube and Cleaner it will be good. But before that you should know how to do it, as excessive lube on chain is also not good.
4.- Front disc will get sharper as the disc brake pads get used a bit.
5.- I think you havent read the bike manual, kindly do that for your own good. The run-in period is 1000kms. First 500kms at or below 5500rpm and next 500kms at or below 7000rpm. READ THE MANUAL bro

Did you alter the circuitry of the back light or is it the same?(pardon me if I'm wrong as I don't know much about the electricals)
Is the power consumption same or less than the stock bulb?

Power consumption is 50-70% less than the stock bulb.Last edited by HotAntivirus; 05-28-2011, 03:29 PM.Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Whats the cost of making it like? & lastly, can I get one?
Congrats for the bike.
Answers:
1) As a policy, most SVCs don't allow customers in the service bay. One can stand away & watch work being done. Not sure what valve they checked in that area. From what I know, there is no such valve there.
2) Using engine oil is debatable (you will find couple of threads here discussing the same, so read through those). The Motul chain lube costs INR 480, & Motul chain cleaner INR 450.
3) Front: 70%; Rear: 30%. If you are far below 70% for front, get there gradually.
4) That's normal. Its a sound from the fuel pump, that comes due to varying air pressure in the fuel tank. Open the tank & the sound disappears (only to come again). Its common in FI bikes.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
