Today I completed 500kms on by bike.
Engine feels much smoother now. As the Running-In instructions say, I can take my bike to 7.5k rpm now. So I took it out on a highway. There was much traffic on the road today so I couldnt go more than 98kph(I didnt see at what rpm). Today was the first time I had taken it above 6k rpm and it was a very nice experience. I love this Bike.

when i got the bike i was using premium fuel fr over a month but then i shifted to regular and realised that there is a perceptible decrease in refinement but my acceleration has picked up..i have no timing method so just estimating this my feel has anyone felt the same or is it becoz the engine feels a little hoarse that i find it is faster?

note: screw the warranty i need a louder horn even cyclists are not able to hear me!!...has anyone changed their horn any advice regarding horns that wont foul up my bike??

read somewhere that the stock horn is 'tunable'.. can be made louder.

will be visiting my service centre tomorrow.. will confirm with them.

            Most horns are usually 'tunable'....

That means it can be messed around with.... not really a tuning thing....

              Ownership Thread: Yamaha YZF-R15

One of the hot threads before our servers crashed... People pls continue your R15 ownership discussions here...

For the Record, My R15 (Blue) has clocked 27xx kms now and is awaiting another drive after the service... I am yet to restore the scratched side panel and the indicator from the small fall (slid in slush and rolled into a mega pothole ) I had during my last drive in August...

              Problems:
              1) The seat got lifted up at the rear and there is enough gap now for water & dust to go inside. The service center guys promised to get it done by adding extra rubber to the existing rubber legs that hold the middle of the seat.

              2) The turn indicator switch gets stuck some times on the right side when a right indicator is switched on. Ideally it should return to the middle. Told this to service center people last time and we decided on seeing the problem again as sometimes dust inside the switch can affect this and the bike was cleaned then. Gotta raise this point at my second service.

              3) The rear seat is utterly uncomfortable for a continuous ride.

              Surprises:
              1) I rode in night and rain for 11 hours (1 hour rain break in between) on various types of roads at various speeds with a bag tied on the back seat and a back pack on my back (not heavy) for a little over 500 kms. I am perfectly alright and there is no kind of pain or strain what so ever.

              2) 122kmph in 5th gear. Didn't try for top speed except once and then at the mentioned speed I had to break.

              3) The engine is cool and relaxed even after continuous speeding for hours oh highways... a P200 (oil cooled!) coming with me got heated up and the warning lights came in multiple times on the way.

              4) 110 to 120 kmph continuous ride on this bike is so easy and you don't feel that the bike is any stressed at all.

              5) Road grip and handling. Almost everytime I take the bike out I am surprised and happy for the way the bike handles.

              6) After all this speeding and riding abt 2k kms on the engine oil, it still looks like 'just-poured-in' in light golden colour and very slippery! The engine is pretty well insulated from dust and the die cast and piston's forging is great... parts pretty well mated and not much work for the detergents in the wngine oil!!!

              Annoyed:
              1) At the number of people suggesting me to get a fatter tyre at the rear!
              2) Some even suggested fitting a dummy second silencer on the left side!

it is stable at higher speeds... but i don't agree on the responsive part... at lower rpms its really sluggish... annoys me sometimes...

I agree with the observation and honestly it lacks low range torque..the reason i understand is being a sports bike..its not made for city commuting but it is more suitable for track riding..like on empty roads. thats why most of us would obeserve at punch of power from in the mid range from 4-8 rpm rather than having that awsome starting torque.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

                      • Yes exactly R15 is a high revving machine, one has to rev high in order to feel the punch in it, its low end is abit sluggish.

its amazing on the track... and for highway cruising... but not for traffic conditions... i was just responding to that particular claim... no doubt about the quality of the bike though...

the warranty does get void with HID.. from a guy who is already using 2 HIDs on his R15 said that if RPM is kept mostly above 5 then there is no problem.. if its less.. the battery gets drained in lesser time compared to the stock lights...

me too trying to find a solution for it, trying for the best possible option... just want to blow these lights on the freaking 4 wheelers during night ride on highways.. esp. for these freakin ppl dont even care to use their dipper...
