    • Hi friends i got my hands on silicon glaze, which is a Amway product and i have been using it since last 10 days, i can say the shine it gives to the bike is like the one you can see in showroom conditions.

All you need is apply the solution in circle motions wait for 2 minutes, then wipe with a dry cloth and the shine it leaves is awesome. Again i would also like to tell you keeping the bike covered, once you come back from work/office/college if you dont have covered parking as it helps a lot in maintaining the bikes beauty.

You can put 3-4 coats on, this will give you a long lasting wet look, you have to wait a few days between coats to allow the wax to harden. Also be aware are fake Formula 1 waxws on the market, there's a thread on TBHP which gives guidence between original and fake products, if it's original then your good to go, make sure you are using a microfibre cloth and or a good chamios, an automotive sponge and shampoo will give you the best wash, which in turn will give you better results.

I've heard people are getting good results with this, I was looking for it around 1 year back, couldn't find it anywhere though. The idea is to get a better than showroom shine, a mirror polish/wet look is the objective, build up a few layers as I have mentioned before, the R15 looks stunning with pristine paintwork, the wax will also protect the paint from UV, bird poop and some small abrasions.

Here you go Huge Fake Car Polish/Wax market in India - Team-BHP

Most accessory shops will sell you any junk and tell you it's good, if you want good genuine stuff, go with meguires/collonite (advertised in the for sale section, i think) or autoglym stuff, as you're in Bombay, you can try Pankaj at FM Drive, in Santacruz, off linking road, he sells Meguires stuff and genuine products, he's pretty trust worthy or if you want autoglym, contact them direct www.autoglym.in they will direct you to a dealer, most of their products are top notch,as used by Aston Martin. A good wax will be a little costly, but will last for ages.

There's also an on thread on here, http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...choose-11.html

Don't do it, when I bought my bike 6 weeks back, it had a zapper 120 on the rear, it affects the handling very badly, cornering is twitchy and scarey, speeds above 60kmph there are massive stability issues, slight cross breeze and you may soil your pants, I have subsequently reverted to stock and very happy with that. Your braking is also compromised as the bike will tilt forward, if you want a fat tyre best you can do is buy an FZ, but where's the fun in that? The R15 has pedegree, don't mess with these things bro!

                  • i was recently on a group ride, i never felt that the horns of an r15 were weak , neither did i see any issues with light( when on high beam ) . I wonder why has the world been cribbing over horns and lights. The lights i thought were better than Karizma's, P220 was definitely better.

Also, the radiator fan kicked in a couple of times, had to keep the bike revving high in first gears for long durations on hilly terrain. Should we stop if the radiator fan kicks in ? Actually, it did kick in only when i stopped the bike

We travelled over 600kms , 200 km of which were off-roading , no-roading rather, rear was fishtailing and skidding a lot in gravel and mud, but so were the other bikes. In slush however, i was struggling a little more than the others. Came back from the ride, took it to svc , washed and lubed, bike is as good as new , feels smoother than ever .

I dont think there is any need to stop if the fan starts.
its only if you see a warning light on your console should you stop.
also you probably hear the fan only when you stop while the fan had already started while you were riding.
                      Cheers.

All of you who want to deviate from the stock mrf tires to show off a little bit, I suggest you get the Pirelli 100 section soft compound tire. It handles as good as the stock tire, but its beautifull tread pattern makes the rear tire look a tad bit more muscular. I've been on this tire for more than 3k kms now and cornering has never been easier. I have also touched 145kmph on the ODO, so I can safely say that handling and performance havn't been affected.

The tire is the same dimensions as the stock MRF. Its the same compound too. Its just got a better tread pattern Besides, Pirelli are world renowned.

                        • Query friends.

Hi guys... am new to this forum but I have been following this thread regularly. I have an R15 of class 38B bought on Jan 2011. I have modified the air circuit of this bike. K&N air filter + FFE + NGK Iridium SP. The initials have improved as expected. But I have read in other threads that with this the bike will run on high AFR (lean). And I have googled that it causes the engine to overheat (which I have felt also). Did anybody using this set-up notice some burning smell coming from the engine block (like some over-heated metal smell)? I use normal petrol. Will the AFR reduce (rich) if I use speed (due to additives)? And if the idle rpm is increased will AFR become rich? Am doing a lot of brainstorming these days (even reading thermodynamics and IC engine to upgrade my knowledge ). Thanks.....

if you want to make the afr richer or leaner you need to have a FID...

Thats's great to know we have other options, I had Pirelli's P600's (I thinks that's the name) on a car 21 years ago, the car was fully modded, engine and suspension etc. the car drove like it was on rails, even in the wet with rear wheel drive it was sweet.

                              • Would you recommend R15 to me?

                                Hello Mates,
This is my first ever post in this thread. I am here for suggestions/recommendations from all you R15 owners.

I am looking for a sports bike which I will mostly use for weekend rides and occassional commuting. I would tour with my wife some times. I am okay with the mileage of 30+. I am 5'8", 29 years old and have an average build.

I had almost bought R15 in Jan 2011, but the news of CBR250R arriving held me back. Ever since, I have been only waiting for the CBR250R just to get a hang of it and see how it compares with R15.As it is clear to you now, my options are R15 and the CBR250.

As R15 owners, I request you to kindly throw some light on the bike's suitability for me.
Would you recommend it to me?
                                What are pluses and minuses?
Does it give a comfortable long ride to me and my wife?
Anything to be worried about the sitting posture of the rider or the pillion? Particularly, do the high rised foot pegs for the pillion rider make long rides uncomfortable?
I have read about rusting of the metal parts and tacky finish of the alloys - does R15 have poor quality components?

                                Anticipating your honest views ....
