I had my last free service done today, Front Brake pads changed, 430 for pads and 150 for fitting. I think that's too high, I had my friend's front pads changed from outside the service center and that guys took 30 bucks. Time to look for alternate service station, or rather DIY service.

My pads were totally worn out, even the metallic round thingys on the left side of the pads was rubbing against the pads and almost totally worn out. Is my disk fuc*ed because of this??

A pic of the worn out pads:
me to changed last week here 390 for front disc pads and 50rs for labour.
your disc may be ruined better get it checked.

after changing front disc pads front brake seems to be loose a bit. not up to the mark like before anybody know why?

        • Rear tyre replacement

first of all i know replacing rear tyre will be compromising. i can compromise soo skiny tyre i can't digest
what will you all suggest zapper 120/17 same tyre on p220 and p180. OR IRC the same as the ninja 250 rear tyre 130/17.
ninja tyre is lighter than zapper as its soft compound so i'm preffering it.
rest what's opinion by other members?

The ONLY way is to park the bike in a safe place like a basement, in midst of security guards, etc.

I went and dragged him out of the vehicle and then shouted at him for being so careless. He gave an excuse that he was in a hurry. I was looking around the bike for damage and couldnt find anything. Not even a scratch.

Should I check for something specific in case of bike fall ?
Glad to know you are fine.
If the handlebars touched the ground, check to see if they are bent / misaligned.

If you post this in the Engine Oils thread, it will help a lot of people.
Posting the address of the dealer will help the cause further as mentioning just Kamanhalli is pretty useless.

            Your pads!?
Just inspect the discs. If they have really deep grooves, or or badly scraped then there has been some damage. Try rubbing the disc with thin emery paper / sand paper to remove any small roughness caused.
Did you hear any screeching / metal rubbing against metal noise when the brakes were being used towards the end of their life? If yes, then you overdid it.

Vague questions don't help anyone's cause. Please be specific.
What do you mean by oil deposits? Which side of the engine? A photo will help.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

            • All senior guys here, need a bit of help.

I hear a krrr-krrr repeatative sound which peaks at 6k rpm. Is this the chain noise (coz I lubricated and adjusted it just a few days ago!) or can this be the clutch bell noise? Overall, the bike is very smooth and I am running on 300V.

Also, the rear wheel was a bit misaligned by a notch and that caused this sound to be almost too noticable at the said rpms. Aligning the wheel brought down the noise, but its still there!

Is oil leaking from the small hole on the right side near the engine ??
If yes, take it to service station. They ll fill it with a gel kind of thing for free.

Check your front sprocket, have it flipped and install, the noise should probably go...

I already tried that too! Makes zero difference. Any suggestions?

Those who had replaced clutch bell at around 20k kms, please describe the noise made by the clutch bell. Does it rattle only at idle or is it felt on the move too? BTW, my bike is 11k kms+ old.

                      • Got the sixth free service done today at 6635kms. Got the main stand for the bike. The cost was Rs. 780 for stand and Rs. 50 for fitting..
I want to know from main stand users that is there any khat sound, the sound of the main stand hitting the mono link from the bike when we pull the bike from main stand..???
One more thing, the svc guys never cleaned my spark plug during 1yr..today I told them to clean it to which they said it may be fine and does not need cleaning unless the bike is stopping or there is any other problem...they hinted mein that it is a tedious task to remove the fairings to open th plug...Is other svc stations doing the same???

Does the sound disappear when you press the clutch... if yes then it is the clutch bell, nothing to worry about as it does not affect the performance in anyway...

I will pull the clutch in while riding at at 6k rpm and see. AFAIK, it mostly goes away with the clutch pulled in.

Also, noise is more under load - say climbing a flyover.

Performance is fine, no vibes too. Just that it makes me rev above 6k rpm to ride comfortably!

                            • Finally after my exams were over, i went with a friend on a karizma for an unplanned long ride from nagpur to amravati.. it was around 150kms one way, so a round trip of 300kms..
the bike performed flawlessly.. earlier i did have doubts about the ability of it maintaining triple-digit speeds , but this trip cleared the air.
Traveled 150 kms in 2.5hrs almost non-stop doing speeds of 120+ at times..
while returning though, hit a few speed breakers (those small ones which come 5-7 together, hope you know what i mean ) which caught me unaware..
did a top whack of 142kmph no comparo going on here but the zma never overtook me while accelerating..
the running acceleration of the r15 is just awesome..it doesnt struggle at any speed...twist the throttle at 110kmph you easily reach 130.. 140 doesnt come easy though..
the engine didn't show any signs of tiring..

but one problem has always been there for me - handlebar vibrations.. the svc guys here have never been able to fix it (not that they try too hard ) once that guy tried to tighten the steering center bolt which reduced them a bit but not for too long..
                              any solutions??

and one more thing later on when i rode my bike i could hear some strange noises from the front.. it sounded more like the sound the suspension makes when you hit a bump - that squishing type sound..
but it came on roads without bumps and only above 50kmph...
it sounded like (squish-squish)x n wasn't too loud though..
i am out of town for a while now, so couldn't investigate much...
but till i return any pointers????
edit: it sounds like i have 10 sparrows in place of my radiator... :P

p.s. the motul ss is much better than the yamalube...noticed when i reverted back to yamalube after pouring motul once..

                              • My First Bike [Sorry for too long post]

Finally Bought my First Bike and yes friends, its R-15

I was waiting since December last year for new R-15. But after the new FZ and Fazer release (w kick and new colours) and no further news about R-15. I got really irritated..
So, today called the Dealer in noida (J M Motors) and asked about stock availability.. Sumit (Dealer) reponds he has two bikes in stock 1 black and the other blue... confused.. I call my best friend.. she is in office, asks her to visit Yamaha India's site and choose between black and blue..

                                Next few hours:

I, asks a friend to lend me 15K (I was short on cash).. calls Dealer, confirms blue colour, mail my boss that I am going out of office for bike... rounds to ATM... and next hour I am at the showroom . for the first time I sit on the bike (YES, I haven't even test rode the bike before)..
makes payment in cash... and boy I'm HAPPY nah.. I'm happiest person on earth ..

a few pics my friend clicked on mobile.. would upload them as soon as I reach home..
