I went to the Yamaha dealer yesterday to clarify some doubts. Since its my first bike just wanted to clear some little doubts before purchasing.
when asked they told about the documents needed etc.
Insurance will be done by Oriental Insurance. They told it takes 3-4 hours for servicing a Bike and I can watch while servicing. They also didn't had the Motul chain lube but only the Yamalube dry type one which comes for around Rs.1450/-.
They don't have any stock of R15 as of now. Next lot will arrive on 30th of this month. They told if I pay the full amount before 28th, they will book one in my name which I can take in the first week of June.
Is there anything fishy about the above statement?
Also they gave me a format which I will have to type on my Company's letter head to obtain a Residential Certificate as my Address proof.
I'm still learning how to ride on a Friend's Splendor and I have little confidence prob while negotiating slow start-stop traffic. I took a TD of the Bike for about 100mts and went upto 2nd gear. was a little bit afraid as I was on a 150cc(powerful than the Splendor) for the first time. But the Bike felt awesome

Yes, first year u will gt Oriental Insurance. Nothing wrong with that. You can opt for any insurance from next year..Originally posted by Prakritij View PostInsurance will be done by Oriental Insurance.
I am not sure, but if you give the booking amount, it should work. You pay installments or full, they should book on your name.Originally posted by Prakritij View PostThey don't have any stock of R15 as of now. Next lot will arrive on 30th of this month. That is for address proof. If you have CC statement or electric bill on ur name, that should work.Originally posted by Prakritij View PostAlso they gave me a format which I will have to type on my Company's letter head to obtain a Residential Certificate as my Address proof.
Don't worry R15 is a stable bike and easy to ride.. For me also it was first bike.. I suggest learn some traffic and riding rules.. I am sure in few days you will be a good rider..Originally posted by Prakritij View PostI'm still learning how to ride on a Friend's Splendor and I have little confidence prob while negotiating slow start-stop traffic. First and foremost, if you can take an R15 owner with you, it will help quite a lot. Secondly check the bike out in the sun, look for any cracks, scratches all over the bike. If I were you, I wouldn't like any numbers on the ODO, so check if its zero. If its anything more than 5kms, it means the bike was maybe used to give a test ride. Ask if the coolant level is proper, and feel the brakes. Ride one short lap, and this is where a R15 rider will help, he'll pick up any anomalies in the ride immediately.Originally posted by Parth View PostGonna take the delivery of my bike tomorrow........any particular things that I should keep in mind??
Well, that's it... And take pictures...
Its a good thing! If they do the free services and use the dry type lube!!Originally posted by Prakritij View PostThey also didn't had the Motul chain lube but only the Yamalube dry type one which comes for around Rs.1450/-.
Absolutely wrong. You don't need to pay the full amount. If you are going to pay the full amount, might as well take the delivery then and there itself. Whenever they have stock (May 30th you said...). Otherwise book the bike, and yeah, like Sheelpriye said make sure the receipt says 'refundable'.Originally posted by Prakritij View PostThey don't have any stock of R15 as of now. If you don't have a phone or electricity bill coming on your name, your Ration card will serve as an address proof...Originally posted by Prakritij View PostAlso they gave me a format which I will have to type on my Company's letter head to obtain a Residential Certificate as my Address proof.
Take it real easy. You will feel uncomfortable with the dimensions of the bike in tight places and also the handlebars turn far lesser than most bikes. And be extremely careful not to have your foot on the rear brake pedal.Originally posted by Prakritij View PostI'm still learning how to ride on a Friend's Splendor and I have little confidence prob while negotiating slow start-stop traffic. Chain lubing is chargeable even if done at the free service.Originally posted by snapppy View PostHi Guys,
Got my second free service done yesterday. The bike feels good. but was wondering, would i need to pay for chain treatment? they charged me 120 Rs for, chain clean and lube, isnt it a part of the free service?
I think a couple of members here are not charged for it due to good relation/ rapport with the SVC
Most of us would recommend you to buy a chain lube can yourself. Works out very cheap compared to what you will pay to the SVC.
My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

wow guys.. this R15 Ownership thread is going to make new records in XBP i guess the way its going... BTW just wanted to clarify a few doubts for Prakritij
If the dealer is saying there is no stock and the bike is expected on june first week then you can pay the booking amount of RS 10k and if your planning to get your bike without any finance and in single down payment then you can pay him 50 % of the value and wait till the stocks arrive.. actually the dealers prefer full cash payment customers and would surely arrange to deliver your bike asap as it helps them to acheive their monthly sales target too.
As for the R15 there is good demand for the bike now and the dealers have to make advance booking with the company with full details of the customer and payment etc and then the dealer is alloted with the lot so just relax and make up your mind. R15 is a great bike and am sure you will enjoy each and every riding moment.
happy and safe riding
Josh.

In addition to what JD Guru said, I think it would be a wise idea to get the FID (diagnostic) tool connected, so that it will pinpoint if there is any error code generated for the Fi system by the ECU.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostOne of my Friend's R15 is giving an abnormally low mileage of 17kmpl..............though, theres no trouble with the Fi,chain adjustments,Clutch cable or the air filter.Company has repeatedly serviced his bike, but the Service centre guys cant make it clear to him why he is getting such a mileage. He complains of a tappet noise, which is evident as the engine is slowed down after a rev up.He does some spirited riding though, but still 17Kmpl is something hard to believe.
Can you people who owns the R15 shed some light that what might be the probable reasons for this abnormal low Mileage?????? Whats wrong with the bike???Quench my thirst with gasoline!

How much the FID cost? Is it a dedicated FID to test R15? Can we remap the R15 ECU?Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIn addition to what JD Guru said, I think it would be a wise idea to get the FID (diagnostic) tool connected, so that it will pinpoint if there is any error code generated for the Fi system by the ECU.

Yes, it will be available with the company workshops, it has been given to them for checking bikes.Originally posted by sakthi_nj View PostHow much the FID cost? Is it a dedicated FID to test R15? Can we remap the R15 ECU?
ECU remap is done as part of performance kit. It would be meaningless to do it without a freeflow exhaust, highlift camshaft&so on.
Take your bike to them&ask them to use it for checking. Talk to some higher authorities explaining the history of the problem&tell them this is needed for diagnosis.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostAnd where do I get that kit???
