  • Refresh camp - anything instead of engine oil?

I received a letter from the dealer that I have been chosen to get a free engine oil change. The vehicle is a little more than two and a half months old and had the engine oil changed at first service (one month and a half months ago). I feel it'd be a waste to replace the engine oil with only several hundred kms after the previous change.

Is it worth asking for something else instead of an engine oil change (something in a similar price range)?

Update: Just got the oil changed since there was no other option.

        • @renny: a sincere opinion - dont pass your humor when it is not appreciated by person whom you passed it on.

@akhil: relax lets be a bit calm out here.

@vrrooom: congrats bro , dont get the engine oil changed but just keep the oil with you when you come down for servicing next time, use it and you wont have to pay for oil

@sheel: in 2 days 13psi is too much a loss get your tyres checked for puncture bro

Little air would escape for sure. I've seen this with the R15 tyres.
Get checked for puncture once (DIY as well!!!) and for leakage around the valve.
            My thoughts...

true Harshit a drop of 1 or 2psi is normal.

I guess a little more than that. Then there can be another drop when you getting the air filled at that time when the pump is connected initially.

So try another air station to check for leakage. But first a check for puncture!

@harshit: it was Sheel's query not mine. if his front tyre is loosing 8psi in 2 days its a confirmed puncture which needs attention and if rear then he is loosing 13psi in 2 days which is way too much

                  • My bike loses about 0.5 psi everyday. I check it twice a month.

                      Did Yamaha call you ?

@ Sarvajit - I remember you were asking about that oil about a month back. I would go with Krishna, its probably the AGIP oil which is ~ Rs 630. Tried it for 4 k and went back to Motul after that.

@ Akhil - A non-existant molehill has become a massive mountain. Renny was just joking, it was funny actually. You misread the situation. Hope better sense prevails in future.

akhilmuraleedhar and rennycornelius are infracted for using inappropriate language over the forum. One more such gross OT, etc., and both of you would be banned.

                          Thanks.

I had been using 20W50 valvoline semi synthetic for lubing my chain for some time, then shifted to 90~120 W gear oil for lubing the chain.

Havent had any problems, but for every track day, it requires lubing. I actually find the chain to be quite if we use heavy weight/viscosity oil
Never use 'used' engine oil, I mean...

Kolkata is nothing like a racetrack! And already the stock bike is so peaky, the DAYTONA kit makes it even peakier. Not useful if you're looking for low end-torque improvement. At best, you could go for a bigger rear sprocket and a FFE from Joel.
                              You get the point?? :D
