This is surprising, dude!! Don't you know about track days being held in IRT(MMSC) and KMS? There are lot many bikers in this forum who do that! Check Motorsports section for more info.

    @Beruoist

I don't have much idea about it, man. But, I have seen TVS Racing using the same for National Supercross Championships.

    • brake pad queries

Halo guys, i have been a hard rider, and just about 7k kms on my r15, the svc says both brake pads need to be replaced and my clutch wire snapped too,..im getting them replaced, im somehow not very sure if the brake pads have really worn out,..how do i check if brake pads have worn out and how do i ensure the svc guys have replaced with new pads?
There is a thin line between adventure and madness,...God must have made me myopic for a reason!!!

yeh, for super sport bikes like the r1.....it is very important as is keeps the tyre cool during long and hard rides...hence, more stability.....but for city riding conditions nitrogen is not so helpful...but yes it will increase the life of your tyre....go for the nitrogen for your circuit machine..
it is a good choice....for you...it will help you to keep the tyre cool and will increase its life..!

2- just 500 kms covered....well, according to me i suggest you...just put some used engine oil on the chain...no need to go for the expensive oils etc.......for the time being put some engine oil.....and when you take your bike to the first service...get it cleaned by the service guys..!

3- i have no idea about that...but you can go for the yamaha one.....it costs around rs 1400 and can be used for more than 16 times.
Buddy thanks for the reply...However i think that lubricating the O ring chain with used engine oil could be the worst thing you can do to the chain. The contaminated oil not only would have lost its viscosity and sticking capabilities it could even damage the O ring seals. Above all i don't think engine oils designed for that purpose at all.

And regarding life of tire i beleive that nitrogen may not make much difference in case of non track usage as heat factor doesn't come to play much here. in racing cars like F1 machines its used otherwise the tire would get ignited because of the oxygen inside the tires as tire really heats up. However I believe nitrogen would leak through the walls at a much slower rate compared to normal air, effectively slowing down pressure loss. also due to absence of oxygen it would really slow down possible corrosion of rims.

And I am still waiting for a sensible reply for my third query. ie

        3. Want to choose the ideal chain lubricant. I understand either we can use motul chain lube (or similar) or Yamalube dry type lubricant. Yamaha dry type I understand is very efficient, less likely to absorb dust and slime, last long but also is costly compared to motul. I live in kerala and from next month onward rains would be a daily affair. I have read fellow members writing Yamaha dry type last long only if its used in a relatively dry environment. considering the price factor and also considering i would be riding in lite to heavy rain once a week at least..wouldn't it require frequent cleaning and lubrication even if I use yamaha dry type lube? In that case would motul be a better choice considering almost 1000 Rs difference in the price? please advice...

There is also one more brand called OKS. Do look at it.
Motul comes with two cans for chain cleaning and lubricating. (Chain clean and chain lube). OKS and Motul as almost same, where OKS is cheaper than motul.

Riding in rain does makes the lube washed away, and I would be difficult to tell at what intervals chain to be lubes unless one has closer look at the chain. Its usually at every 400-500kms chain needs to be cleaned and lubed.

Yamalube is certainly best of all but I feel its not nessecary for the kind of environment the bike is used, it would be exceptional if the bike is used on off tracks.

If you remove your break pads you can see two vertical lines on that.

If the lines are still deep enough, then no need for replacement..

Those lines are there to make sure the pad is ok.. Once the lines are gone, you gotta replace..

                              Never use engine oil.

If you're worried about looks, go for an SBK. They are the most proportionate motorcycles out there. There are a lot of tall riders riding an R15, and it doesn't matter. This has been discussed to death.

Check brake pads yourself! There should be two cuts in the brake pads. If visible, pads are okay. If not, they need to be replaced.

Advantages would be the intake howl (not necessarily sweet sounding, but different from normal R15s) and disadvantages would be lean fuelling and untimely degradation of the engine.

Yep, just take a short wire and connect the high beam to the low beam. Check the connectors, they're 3-pin. The high beam has wires in all 3 pins, and the low beam has in only two. Connect the odd ones and you're set!
                              You get the point?? :D
