Dude, I'm not saying it won't fit! It will definitely fit. But the colors wont match! Since the one they are selling is a darker toned red and my bike is like bright tomato red. It will definitely not match the bike's overall color. How can it?

Coming to your problem, a crash can definitely affect everything on your bike. Depends on the severity of the crash. If it was a mild fall, then nothing should happen, but at higher speeds, lots of nuts and bolts can come lose and things can get shaken. To completely get rid of all vibrations, you might have to remove the fairings and check everything for looseness and dislocation

The mechanics at the SVC could do it for you, but they can be very hasty sometimes since they dont love your bike as much as you do

    • K'N

today was my bikes second service so got it done and installed K'N RC1060 from authorised yamaha Service station warranty is not lapsed nothing K'n costed me Rs2000 with fitting charges..

so now change or performance...so today i felt why K'N's called world's best air filters. increase in pick and middle range [which R15 lacks] now in traffic changing of gears is less as compared to previous stock filter. and the main problem which K'N faces fuel mixture seems to be ok because with K'N 120km/hr is piece of cake. and its not top speed i ran out of roads. and exhaust note is truly awesum felt good like a superbike so for me K'N is right deal.

the darker toned red seat cowl is not available only the tomato red is availabe which would suit you bike, i also have a black one for me. when i ordered for myself i came to know blue and red ones are also available. red means the tomato red, not the darker one

have you seen the darker toned one yourself?

i am quite sure about it
coz a guy repainted the seat cowl to darker toned one just because the darker tone is not available

        check this post

My R15 is 6 odd months young and is about to go in for the fifth service @12k kms range (i believe a lot few overhauling needs to be done at this point, is it ?) Bikes been ridden mostly around the red zone and has taken a whole lot of beating at three digit speeds.

For this service I have decided to replace spark plug, air filter element, engine oil filter element, and air filter. do i need to replace anything else at this point ? (am i missing something here ? )

I have decided to adjust the valve clearance, and i also believe both swingarm and steering bearings need to be lubricated with lithium based grease. please confirm.

I have read a lot of posts in the thread about using 15w50 motul fully synthetic oil. But the manual says 20w40 is the grade that we should stick to (as per my knowledge the last two digits of the grade **W40 should never b changed) so why 15w50. i myself have been using 5w40 fully synth from motul since 6000 kms.

If 15w50 Motul fully synthetic is better then i will change to that grade and since I'am anyway replacing the engine oil filter element, it shouldn't be a problem, right ?

          thanks in advance, regards.

Looks like , I am not going to get a reply for this from anyone ? huhhh

Santa (Santoosh) is using mineral 20W40 mineral oil in his R15 w/o any problems whatsoever. He has clocked somewhere close to 40K.

            I am using 15W50 semi-synthetic Yamalube oil.

I have myself never preferred fully synthetic oil as you need topping the oil up frequently (1500kms in my case) because the oil starts to evaporate.

You may use oil as per your preference but remember to change your oil filter when you change grades.

I myself want to switch-over to Motul, but I am not able to do so. May be next time or next bike.

The figures before & after the W indicate the temperature in which the particular oil can operate in. Lower/Higher the temp, the better is oil's capability to see through adverse climate.

^I have tried to pour in whatever I knew from the knowledge shared over here in the past few years, if I am somewhere wrong, please feel free to correct me
            Thanks

+1 Either can be used. But personally I would prefer to use 15W50 in case you wish to rip it up and also I think it should work for 3000 kms.

I can understand that when we change grades then we need to change the oil filter. But, as our fellow members posted that it is necessary to change the filter when we change the company of oil without changing grades. Is it really necessary? If we didnt change then what would be the effect?

Despite the fact that grades would be same, but would the viscosity be same and would the other additives present on brand X, be present on brand Y?

Unlikely, for a better representation, try out jeans from various brands and you might spot some difference in sizing despite both measuring same.

From what I think, every oil company boasts of some revolutionary technology which is less or not present in others.

I won't call it necessary, but I would recommend and would do the same for myself.

You're missing something with the Yamalube SS.

Make that quick (on the R15). A much smoother experience awaits you .

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                          • @Bangalore R15 owners: Is the Yamalube fully synthetic engine oil available there? The stock hasn't arrived here yet&I would like to pick it up since I am in Bangalore the coming weekend.
I will be at Old Airport Road, so SVCs closer to that will be preferable.

@tibby: I had sent you an sms over the weekend regarding this too.

                            • Guys plz check page 8-1 of your R15 owners manual. Its clearly mentioned that only 20w40 oil to be used then why some using Motul 15w50? I was thinking of using Castrol Power Racing 1 4T 10w40 at 2nd servicing but am confused now.
