I would say visit this thread, it has done me a world of good.

Though good on your instincts that you could chose a spot to fall, next time wear some gear

Apologies to go OT guys, but it was/is all for the betterment of ride and rider.
That thread is simple awesome, thanks. But my problem was the lack of availability of braking distance ahead of me. The corner came up too suddenly, and my rear tire was extremely over-inflated like I said, affecting its road grip severely. Hence, I had to rely only on my front brakes. Even a tiny amount of braking at the rear would make it slip away while leaning. Hence, I used the rear brake as much as possible within this limits, and used the front brakes completely, and there was still more speed than that corner could take, unless I know how to shift my weight and get my knee down(And I still cant shift my weight completely and get my knee down). Hence, I thought it'd be better to try stopping the vehicle and if still necessary, fall on the softer spot than slide on the tarmac MotoGP style!

And yes, I was wearing some gear.. my helmet, riding jacket, leather shoes with metal armour..that's why no wounds. My wrist's ligament got hurt internally, due to the impact. I had absolutely no bruising or blood anywhere.

I love the way it goes past the stock rev-limiter.

And my last accident was well, can't say why it happened. A freakin bus cut across my path at 60+. while I'm braking and dodging it, my front tire went over some oil and even before I knew it, I was sliding, MotoGP style (with my hand raised to be visible to traffic coming from behind) on the road... Kolkata streets are dangerous. Seriously. Ask any motorist.
Nokia N79 I'm actually trying to make a camera mount for my bike, something compatible with my phone. We'll see how it goes

And yes, luck does play a critical role. Like the electricians for sheelpriye, bus for you, not to forget the dogs! The most we can do is "be sure" before doing something on road. And hey, did you find any noticeable difference in my bike's acceleration?

    • got my 3rd service done today....the mechanic just took the rear wheel out and greased the parts, chain slackness was checked, engine oil changed to Motul SS, air filter cleaned and bolts were tightened...when I told him to check and clean the spark plug, he said that it is not required...my bike completed 3465kms....Today morning I saw the iron part just behind the left RVM inside the fairing was rusting...How to prevent it???

      • guys, i somehow feel that my bikes performance is somehow not up to the mark. specially after riding the test ride bike at the showroom recently, i felt that its engine was way more responsive than mine...
to be precise, when we are going say at 50-60kmph, when i give it a full throttle, the test ride bike gave a positive jerk, i could feel an immense response/pull from the engine..
but my bike isn't so, in the same scenario, if i give a full throttle, it doesn't give any jerk, it pulls, but slower.
has done 2.6k till now, 2nd servicing due soon..
btw is there anyway we can confirm that the performance is upto the mark except dynos?? just to be sure i've got an R15 engine only and not a souped up pulsar !!!
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

          • guys....

what are the K&N air filters for?

do they enhance the bike performance in any way?

are they exactly suitable for an R15? means, do they harm the furl economy or anything?

my bike has done about 7k kms and its been about 7 months since i got the bike....if you do suggest for the filters, is my bike of the right age to install them?
if not what is the right time to do it? i'm asking this since i ve seen a guy with the LE R15 at the SVC, installed with the filters....they sounded great! exhaust note!

well, i ve seen this review on K&N filters...have your say on this
"I have a Pulsar 220 dts. I equipped it with a K&N air filter, changed the exhaust and sparkplugs. I did it all at once and now my bike goes around a speed of 160 kmph and accleration of 0-100 within 8-9 seconds .... thats freakin AWSUMMMMM ... !!!!"
            IS THIS REALLY POSSIBLE?
is 160 kmph possible with a pulsar 220?

k&n filters are not meant for the R15..although many owners are using them without issues..
there is only a marginal improvement in performance..check out youtube videos, not posting the links here, search it..
no, there is no specific time to install filters..you can do it any time..i suggest if at all you are going to install them, then wait till the stock air filter gives way...cost cutting

and yeah, next time use the search feature before posting..

160kmph? most probably speedo errors.. as i said only marginal improvements are seen..don't expect a increase in top whack(if at all) of more than 3-5kmph..

                  well,
first of all, thanks for the thread and suggestion....

"Jetting is not required on a fuel injected bike. The bikes ECU automatically adjusts the air-fuel ratio to compensate for increase in the amount of air."
this is what i've gone through before posting my query...
but i didnt know that there are two forms of internal control for fuel injection system and the R15 having Open Loop....went through it...thank you....

but i came across the word 'JETTING' which is used to adjust the air fuel ratio...can this be done on R15 too?

there is a hand held device provided by yamaha for setting the AFR on the 15..
it has to be done manually by the svc guys..not sure how many dealers have the device, even if they have it, they don't know how to use it..
basically i don't think we should fiddle with the complexity of the fuel injection system on the 15...

yeah thats true, but i ve seen one of the member of xbhp quoting that he has got K&N RC1060 installed from an authorised yamaha service station

well, this is not to offend you but, why does these SVC's have these installations when it is'nt recommended for the machine?
and is K&N an after market product or does it relate with yamaha?

well, as you said, it isn't "recommended", after all said and done, you are the owner, you have the final say..k&ns don't void warranty, ask the svc, they'll fit it for you..
k&n has no relation with yamaha.

160 km/hr hahahaha this is all crap. anyways let's talk about R15 people say R15 ECU has open loop cant adjust fuel. but they don't know ECU is programed with dieffrent Maps for different intake because at different places air pressure is different. so little excess air it can handle. i have installed K'N RC1060 1 month back performance increase is yes marginal increase but middle range is increased little bit and i feel little less need of gear changing now and as we all know exhaust note is just awesome and gives a superbike attention. Yamaha authorised agency installed it and it doesnot void waranty so go for it and yes as all peaople say that after installing K'N mileage increases because of improper air fuel mixture so my bike proving them wrong with same mileage as before and top end of 142km/hr so i think fuel mixture is ok otherwise top end should be decreased and mileage should have been increased but in my case bike is NOT RUNNING LEAN AFTER INSTALLING K"N RC1060.....though other sizes like R110 may effect air fuel mixture. so go ahead install it and enjoy

buddy, that is the trip meter. You can reset it to zero. It shows how much km you have travelled. It DOES NOT show how much km you can travel on the remaining fuel Please go through the manual and you will find all the answers
