My suggestion is go for the black, we still cant be sure if u can get the new one within 2 weeks as they said. Why wait any longer..
wel getting ur horn sound like the new r15 would not b a big issue (if u know the difference) n if u like the full black then dont let a horn(which can b corrected) stop u ........u choice of colour is mor importante the ur choice of horn sound.
than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.

    • ^ bhai, old r15 stock is finished here it seems.. i was just trying to justify taking the booking of new one if the old ones had still been available.. :P

and you're right, i don't know how the new horn sounds. Just assuming something from what ppl are saying

      @ freakzil

saying again, go for the old black one.

One more thing I forgot to ask in my last post...

They say the Fazer is the lord of streets coz of its excellent maneouverability, handling and rise comfort on city roads... !! Is the same amount of comfort and perfection also offered by R15 ??

In simple words, if I gotta ride my bike only on the crowded city roads and streets; and am not dying for the R factor, and cost no matter... so which one is a better buy ... Fazer or R15 ??
Go for Apache RTR 160efi or Fazer or P200 09..
These three bikes are best suited for only city rides!

          • ^ two words for u.. I DIDNT!

Stock of Old r15s here was over when I went to the showrooms. Hence had to book the NEW one. I agreed with you didnt I, I said old black is better.. Would have gone for that if it were still there. Still, I gave some 'advantages' (in the same bike lol) that the new has over the old. Thats it..

edit: I guess I'm to blame, I said I'm preferring the new over the old because of some horn etc., actually there are no old r15s available here.. sorry

            • Guys, I have a strange problem with my R15.
Its the fourth time in the last 40 days that I have had the spark-plug cap replaced due to it going kapoot! Actually, when i got my bike serviced on the 1st of July, it happened for the first time ... I was getting back home the SVC, when I couldn't rev beyond 2500 rpm, and then she was stalling. I could hear a tick tick tick sound and the bike kept jerking as i tried to open the throttle, till it stalled. I asked the SVC people to send a mechanic over, which they prompty did within 15 mins or so. He opened the RH fairing bit and diagnosed a faulty spark plug cap. Since then , Ive only ridden around 60-70 kms and it has happened thrice again!
              Any suggestions?

              • Thanks Tibby, Gaurav TnT (Tarun), I dont visit any other place as much as I visit this thread specially this one... because of suggestions and help from you all guys... who constantly visit this thread.. no wonder its the most visited and high entry thread of XBHP
The first thing that I did this morning was called up the Assistant Sales Manager of the head dealers of Yamaha.. whom i know very well.. (poor chap was still in bed) He said that brother I can understand your curiosity and tendency to loose ur patience... The moment the bike lands in the godown.. the first call that I'm gonna make is to you...
Then I also added and asked him what is the "Latest" manufacture date imprinted on the old R15 and he told me that the last time they imported hell lot of bunch of R15 was in Jan/Feb 2009 and after that not a single bike has been imported. So that means.. all the bikes that are in showroom now (The R15) are manufactured on Jan/ Feb.. and this is almost September... There I loose some 10K's while selling it.. I wanted to wait but this waiting is killing me every moment...
I would go to the showroom today and see if its right... like if the manufactured date is Jan/Feb then i did better wait.. or if not.. if luckily they have the one manufactured in April/May... then who knows.. in the evening.. I might be the one more R15 owner
Will update you all in the evening... Poor me...

I've heard of this problem. In most cases the spark plug had conked off. In the manual you'll see an NGK plug is recommended. But the stock factory fitted bike comes with a DENSO one. Nothing against the DENSO plug, but there have been a few instances. Might be worth a change.
                    You get the point?? :D

                      Choice is yours.
The feelers of FZ is a direct fit for R15. It costs 14.69 per peice. The interesting fact is, even these feelers were imported from Japan.

Guys i feel everything about R15 is over priced. I mean all the spares. (ex)The feelers for R15 is Rs 260 and for FZ it is Rs 14.69.

                          • Hey people!

Sorry if this has been discussed here before...anyone done sprocketing in R15? I mean, has anyone tried to change the rear/front sprockets to increase the initial pick up (or to slightly bump up the bottom end torque)? I guess this is the most basic, fuss free mod job that can be done without any worry!

I guess it is possible to give bump to initial pick up this way! IF anyone has done this, please share

...this should be the cheapest solution for R15s low initial pick up/bottom end torque!!!

Most probably not. Better find a shop that sells NGK plugs. You can ask the svc to fix the plug, and if they say it voids the warranty, show them the manual! I've forgotten the model no. Do check in the manual once.

But you'll lose out on top end.
Yeah, this had been asked by someone once, but seriously, finding another sprocket of similar dimensions with more/less teeth is difficult I guess. It should fit the chain perfectly. Also this current sprocket is of a different alloy. Probably stronger....

I almost had her... the only thing that stopped me was the Assistant sales manager himself.. who was telling me.. boy.. you have waited for this long.. 14-15 days is nothing.. so that you wont regret later... so i went with his words...
