If you use the Search feature, you can locate posts by a member with close up pics of the cowl. It is one of the initial pages I believe.

      • I am intrested in buying the R15, i had a discussion with the showroom guys, wanted to upgrade the size of tyre before buying it, and he said he can offer me 120/17 ( MRF ), instead of 100/17 which is a part of std accessories. Will 120/17 look muscular than it's current 100/17 or still can i fit 130/17 on the same rim.

I can understand your sentiment that you don't want to ride another Luna.

I have seen a 130/70 x17 track type tyre fitting well but a 120/80x17 buttoned tyre having some problem. Try to go for soft compound tyre. Else there is no point in buying the R15 other than looks.

            • Go for fazer if you want looks.
Go for R15 if you want a decent performing bike.
If you want the answer of you're question then go back few pages in this ownership thread and check out why the STOCK TYRES are best or why people(including me) are dying to buy the NON-MUSCULAR STOCK TYRES instead of fancy one's.

              • You gotta see the stock tire out of the rim to beleive how wide it actually is :-)

                u ll understand then.

                    • Here is the photo of new Yamalube (in market from about 1st quarter 2009) in comparison with Motul. The cans are ditto ditto. Motul uses the same can design through out the world.

Now, the question is, is the new Yamalube made by Motul and not by Mobil?

Yamaha is known to tieup with some oil maker in each market for Yamalube. At different parts of the world they sell it from Mobil, Motul, Petronas, Castrol and a bunch more companies that I cannot recollect now. Also, when Yamalube was made by a company, say Castrol for example, the Yamalube is packed in Castrol standard cans.

Now, the older Yamalube was made by Exxon Mobil (Mobil1) and it was supplied in their cans. I lost the photos of that can but have found a 2T oil can that my father uses. It was similar.

I had a chat with a Yamalube distributor here in B'lore, a couple of months ago.. He did tell me that Yamalube is nothing but Motul, re-branded & marketed by Yamaha (Yamaha doesn't manufacture engine oils, only markets them).. He wasn't sure if it was a global tie-up, or just for India though..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                          • thanks a lot for the information

thanks a lot for sharing the information on the tyre and also the image to clarify it. So I will try to get 130/70 x17 track type tyre ( will i get in yamaha showroom in Pune ). or change it soft compound tyre 120/80x17 ....

Also has the light's issue sorted out by Yamaha. Does the new R15 come up with dual lamps lit up at the same time there was a post sometime back that yamaha itself is coming out with the cutout....
