Left hand on right clipon, right hand in the air. Left foot on the gear lever, right foot on right rear footpeg. Bum on seat between tank and rear grabrails (anywhere in this range), chin on tank. Do this and you can get your pic in the paper for motorcycle acrobatics

Jokes apart, I'll just put a few points here. Make sure you sorta follow through with them, instinct will fill in the gaps.

Sit a little away from the tank, recesses for the 'family jewels' haven't been invented yet. The knee recesses are for the knees so put them there. Basically you should hold your upper body weight by your lower back, abdomen and thighs (hold the tank with your knees but not too tight!) So, your hands don't support your body weight. Keep your elbows a little bent (dont lock them straight). You should be bending your lower back a little so as to get into a semi crouch. I also find that keeping the ball of the foot (not the heel or the middle of the foot) on the footpegs actually gives me a little more confidence and feels molded to the shape of the bike. The heels are rested on the triangular shaped thingy with holes that you can see from the side view (I guess thats what they are meant for), Sounds uncomfortable but isn't.

Dont worry, its quite simple, and it just takes some time to get used to it. It won't even need to be done consciously after a while. It took two weeks for me to un-learn my commuter stance though.

I wanted to know about the comfort level of the bike. the bike has a sporty riding position but is it more sportier than rtr??? how comfortable is it for city use. i currently hav a commute of 25kms one way to my college(this might increase to 30kms) might involve some stop-go traffic.would it be comfortable???? i just love the looks of r15. any issues to pay special attention to in r15? which colour wud be the best and 1 silly question- Can a helmet lock be fitted on the r15, where can the helmet be locked in r15 as i cant always carry helmet with me. plz tell about mileage also.
First of all congrats.. you just choose yourself a fantastic and the best bike ever revolutionize...Today no one can argue that R15 is perhaps the sportier of any bike other than the trademark sports bike.
As everyone over here pointed out.. you definitely need time to adjust to its riding position... after that its just a piece of cake.. you will atleast think twice before you touch any other two wheeler... The braking, build class and road grip are class apart and they all do a marvelous job. I dont know whether it was due to the Delta-box frame or its front space, luckily one of my fren brother who was riding his R15 slammed into the back of a truck at night. Luckily he survived with just few bruises and all, I should say either luck or the bike saved him.. but yeah of course he had to spend some 30K's to mend it.
Everyone has their own way of measuring mileage, i do it on the basis of reserve to reserve.. but this days you can't rely on the digital meter. When I measured it, it returned me a mileage of 44kmpl on (60% city and 40% highway). Considering the 17 horses of power that pulls underneath... its the job done well..

Well regarding the color choice... everyone has their own taste.. so we can't pull one's leg on their color decision. Ask me, if I was in US I would not have gone for the 'Sunset Red' as it being more attractive, one have to pay higher Insurance premium. Since CNBC gave the tag of India's first sports bike, either Red or Yellow looks cool. The Blue one's as mentioned above.. it's the trademark yamaha color... but it will just be another bike in the crowd. I would recommend to go for the new racing colors. Personally, my favorite was Midnight black but due to unavailability had to settle for the 'Sunset Red'. Cheerios with the ride.. keep posting and let us know of your choice..

& we thought you're yet to get your 15!

@All: How much will a can/bottle of coolant cost (pls mention quantity as well)? Any recommended brand(s)?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

When I went to SVC to get the chain lubed, I checked coolant level and topped it up as it is near to low mark. They charged me Rs.50/- for that. No idea about the cost of full bottle.

Yamaha recommends only Motul. Cost Rs 330/- . Quantity I am not too sure about, got one last week, looked close to a litre.

I too got it topped up at the SVC a couple of times.. But the issue here is, the coolant tank is only 250ml, & they charge 60 bucks here to top it up, hardly filling in 100-150ml.. So buying a can will work out cheaper, & pouring in the coolant is not a skillful job either.. So DIY is better..

Isn't it called motocool? Any specifications, or is there only 1 type available?

The rascal who took your bike's sticker off definitely had a piece of paper-mess in his hands after the dastardly act..
You'll need to get one locally made, however bad it turns out to be..
Thanks buddy, I tried the same here too, but you are right-it won't come out without getting damaged, coz its coated onto the panel. I gave up&changed the LHS fairing for Rs.575.
If anyone from Hyderabad wants my old undamaged (sticker missing) fairing for trying out anything, they are welcome to take it from me for free.

I guess Tarun has already answered all your queries. About the helmet lock, there is one under the seat.

Congrats! You finally got your R15! It has been worth the wait surely!

I don't think you would need to keep topping it up that often-mine was topped up at the 2nd Service&never after that-the level is almost full since then. You know how I use my bike.
I say get it topped up now&in any case you need to replace the coolant every 2 years, so maybe get a litre then&use it amongst 4 of you guys.

I'm lazy to do such things on my own . Last weekend I had to visit three different SVC's for getting my chain lubed , cost of laziness!

Hmmm.. Thats a steep price to pay, in a way, just for the sticker..
How about your old fairing coming to someone from Bangalore for experimenting (hint hint)..

My bike's coolant was topped up at 1st & 2nd service.. & both the times it was at the LOW mark.. It was full when I got the bike, so dunno how the bike drank so much of it (& no, touch wood, no radiator leakages thus far)..
Its just a notch below the FULL level now, so doesn't require a top up as of now.. Maybe a few months down the line, some of us here could share a bottle (of coolant ) between us..

Some time back I tried to remove the windshield on my own to clean/remove some particles that went deep in gap between that are not reachable by hand. And the result, even today windshield vibrates even if I rave the engine to 4k rpm . So I'm keeping away myself not to mess up the bike anymore.

@All: As the discussion came, how can I fix the vibrations coming from windshield? SVC guys are helpless. I will try my luck again during the 4th service.

I have the seat cowl. It costs Rs.2000&definitely looks very good, but plastic quality is ordinary.
