Heres some news on R15.
A new Yamaha YZF-R15 in the pipeline? | Indian Autos blog
If sources are to be believed then there is a new model of the Yamaha R15 is in the pipeline.
Although not much is known about the technical aspects of this bike, there would be some cosmetic changes to it. The new bike could include split seat with rear LED tail lamp. The rear section of the bike is also expected to undergo some changes.
The company, some sources claim, has halted production of the existing version as it is about to bring in the new R15.Acta non verba

Ah ha... had this doubt for over half an year now. I was surprised to see the oil change, can change, JASO certification code change, colour change and the manufacturer change but not mentioning the real manufacturer when the oil was changed.Originally posted by santoosh View Postmr KP , here u go , managed to find one from 2007 , i used to use it on my 180/200.
exxon mobil paid 133 rs oly then , SG .
Even now i stick with SG only , not SL.

BTW, Santa, I too like the old API SG (Mobil) better than the new API SL (Motul).
All crap. Nothing new is coming.Originally posted by Trigger View PostHeres some news on R15.
The fluid hose in the R15 is so nicely routed and is secure. The braking is so well behaved and is spot on. Do you think the steel braided lines would show much benefit on the R15?Originally posted by GP_freak View PostHas any one tried braided lines for the front disc brake in R15 ? Am planning to use the new pulsar 220's braided line in my 15. Any inputs ?

that motul can does not have any grade written on it ???& only 900mlOriginally posted by HydBiker View PostHere is the photo of new Yamalube (in market from about 1st quarter 2009) in comparison with Motul. The cans are ditto ditto. Motul uses the same can design through out the world.

Now, the question is, is the new Yamalube made by Motul and not by Mobil?
Yamaha is known to tieup with some oil maker in each market for Yamalube. At different parts of the world they sell it from Mobil, Motul, Petronas, Castrol and a bunch more companies that I cannot recollect now. Also, when Yamalube was made by a company, say Castrol for example, the Yamalube is packed in Castrol standard cans.
Now, the older Yamalube was made by Exxon Mobil (Mobil1) and it was supplied in their cans. I lost the photos of that can but have found a 2T oil can that my father uses. It was similar.

managed one set from among the last pieces in Hyderabad. still had some life in my stock set but I bought them in advance to to uncertain availability/supply from MRF.
i know that yamaha uses their own additives to the oil & is manufactured by others ,sigpic

Hi..
I own a blue R15 which is around 13 months old and has clocked very close to 12k kms on the odo.
Ever since I bought my bike, I've been using the standard unleaded petrol. Mostly HP petrol pumps. I knew that branded fuels like Speed and Extra premium are better than the standard ones but never knew Extra premium is 93 octane(I hope am correct) petrol. I have been reading this very often these days, that use of Extra premium is better for high performing machines like R15, P220, Ninja etc.
I was planning to switch to Extra premium now on.. But the question is my engine has run almost 12k kms on standard fuel. So is shifting to Extra premium gonna do any good or it wont matter that much? If it's not of much use now as I've already done so many kms on standard fuel then I'll stick to the standard fuel only. But if switching and sticking to Extra Premium gonna help the engine then am definitely gonna put Extra premium everytime now on..
What's you take on this guys? Kindly shade some light. Should I stick to Normal fuel or the Extra premium. Am gonna run my bike in reserve for long time and use the normal fuel that's there in the tank and then fill it with Extra premium if at all I switch...
Thanx in advance!Ketan Nikharge.

Extra Premium is 91 octane, not 93 octane&contains friction busters which supposedly help in smoother engine life&performance. I have been using it since Day 1 on my car&R15, so I have not compared&found the difference in mileage/smoothness. Maybe I should compare them with vehicles that have been running on standard petrol!Originally posted by ketan_r15 View PostHi..

Anyways, both my vehicles have a compression ratio higher than 10.0:1&it can do only good, no harm!
Coming to you shifting over, you will not find the difference in one filling-it needs to be repeated atleast 4-5 times to start feeling the difference. Do it&let us know! Mark your mileage now&later&as for smoothness, you are the best judge!

Will do that and compare the difference... Initially I was planning to switch to only Shell petrol pumps but there's only one Shell Petrol pump in entire Mumbai(awww) so it's not practical..
anyways, thanx a lot.. Waiting for other's inputs..
EDIT: Any difference on performance(am not talking bout the smoothness) front?Last edited by ketan_r15; 10-29-2009, 02:36 PM.Ketan Nikharge.

I don't think it will give any difference other than 2-3kms. per litre extra and/or slight increase in smoothness. No performance related change like faster accelaration etc.Originally posted by ketan_r15 View PostThanx for the inputs Sarvajit..

Along with axle nut, u need to loosen the nut with which the rear disc is placed on the swing arm.. One more thing u need to keep the chain tensioner to a lower number.....
FYI, Any mechanic 'll be able to do it... Just tell him to loosen the second nut also...

Whatever number it gets adjusted to, just ensure that it is the same on both the sides.Originally posted by sk8er_joe View PostAlong with axle nut, u need to loosen the nut with which the rear disc is placed on the swing arm.. One more thing u need to keep the chain tensioner to a lower number.....
