  • where did you get an oven large enough for the headlamp. I have a spare headlamp at home (only LHS) so maybe I'll start some prototyping too.

Never try the oven method, I tried it and one HL assy got burnt. That too at only one particular area.First tried 1 minute, 2 minute durations..the assy didn't even get warm. So tried 3mins, and it got burnt and molten at only one area!

      So I did it with a hair-dryer.

      • After market Rear Brake Pads

Hi guys, is there any after market brake pad for the the rear disk assemebly ? i think it is absurd to price a rear brake pad around 1200 rs . Am looking for cheaper options such as in the case of ZMA pads. Any ideas, i am from chennai.

I cant compromise on the front though.

The rear pads are Nissin make ones. I highly recommend you not to go for KBX imitations even though they might exist.

any specific reason ? i dont use the rear brake too much, only during slow speed.

You'll loose the spongy feel and progressive braking effect. You must ride a P220 to understand the difference.

Finally got a source after one month of searching and asking everyone I know. Then, fabrication of parts, calculations, thinking, prototyping took 3 weeks. And one week for the final assembling and finishing. So the actual work took 1 month, while sourcing the projectors took another one month.
Whoa! Seems like lot of effort has gone into the project. Keep up dude.
                    Unique ride there!
Btw, which adhesive did you use to get the HL assembly back to one piece?
And, angel eyes would have added the "bling factor" to the ride. Just my thought.
                    Cheers!

                    • @ digi- okay, PM me your royalty charges....

Anyways, It'll take super dedication to come up with a job like that. I had the idea of projectors, around the time you were looking for projectors, but my idea was two projectors only. Later I realized if I set them for low beam, high beam will be compromised and vice versa. So now I'm coming up with R1 style projectors with sliding shades for high beam to give 'takkar' to your projection system

@ GP Freak & Pulsar flame- The rear brake pads are a lil' different in shape. I dont know if imitations are available, but do check a few pages back, I have posted a picture of the rear brake pads. The one thats pushed by the piston is normal, but the fixed one is a lil' different. Dont know if you'll find a substitute for that......
                      You get the point?? :D

thanks for the pics, the pads look weird...
checked in Gp road here in chennai. There are no after market pads available for the R 15 rear disc. One shop keeper told that ASK has come out with the rear brake pads for R15 costing aroung 350 rs. But he didnt have the pads though. asked me come by next week.

                        • Hi, Yesterday evening I was riding at speed of 50-60.. Road was pretty smooth, but it was wet as heavy raining here.. Suddenly bike started noise like hasshhhh hasshhhh .. when I increase speed above 40kmph.. when I press clutch, the sounds disappears.. I dont know how sound is coming.. I went to Yamaha SC in morning, he given some silly answers like it's noise of rubber pad to chain.. It wasn't a chain noise at all.. It suddenly started yesterday evening..

Can anyone explain what kind of sound it can be??

one more thing, which chain lubricant should I use in rainy season>?>

                          • ^It will be the chain noise. Its an orchestra of its own makes a variety of sounds. Just relax its not an issue its just a characteristic of the bike.

Motul or OKS chain is the best. The put some industrial synth lube on my bike and i can see it rusting a bit already thanks to the rains. Motul has been very good with on my bike. I might be switching over to OKS soon as its cost effective but they are both very good.

@Digislayer: Dude your work with the bike is just amazing! Its come out just great man! Lot of hard work on your part and has paid off totally! Wayy to go man! U've the coolest looking front end on any R15 ever made! Cheers to that!

If u are looking at xenons get someone to get u a kit from www.gothidxenon.com it will run fine. But u might need someone to get it down as its expensive to get it shipped directly from there.

Anyways Kudos for coming out with a successful project on your bike!
