  • Motul 300v For Yamaha R15 review 😤😤

    Hello
Just want to share my experience with the Motul 30OV Fatory Line 15w 50

I have just run my bike in and thought I would try the Motul 300v

I dislike the Yamaha lube oil as the bike does not like it mainly the gearbox
The engine runs ok but not the clutch
So I paid my money and added the Motul 300 v

And to be honest the Yamaha R15 doesn't like the 300v at all in fact the bike changed overnight
It idled rough run rough and the gearbox was clunky and most of all lost power there was no clutch slip but clutch drag 😣

So guys I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on 300v or use synthetic oil on the R15

I've used Motul before when I use to Race bikes and in Go karts and never really liked there products to be honest

So i decided to drain my 300v oil =$$$$ and replaced it with Putoline 15w 50

I've never used or had heard of this stuff before but 1 guy told me its good stuff so as my options here are limited to good quality semi synthetic oil I went down this road

    Result ????

Well the bike came back to normal in 5 mins
No clutch drag No vibration and smooth as silk gear changes.

This oil seems like good stuff and seems to really suit the R15
So if your looking for oil and you see the Putoline try it and it's not to expensive around $ 20 a litre

Hope this helps happy riding 👍

You are lucky you got off easily.
In my case I lost 450 ml oil within 1500 kms.
I had to tear down the engine just to check whether the bore, rings and valve seals are fine or not.
In my opinion it's a garbage oil for Indian conditions.
The oil hates clutching and bike sounded and vibed like an auto rickshaw in it.
P.s. I didn't have any fault in the engine had to put new rings because I stepped on the oil scraper ring and it got squished.
It's still going strong after almost 126000 + kms almost. The bore is still stock.

      CHEERS.

I have been using the 300v on my bike for almost 4 years now.. dont seem to have any problems.. Bike feels smooth and the acceleration had improved slightly.

There are many who vouch by it and works properly for them but for some hapless souls like me that oil behaves like poison.

              I'm presuming we're talking about 300v's effects(good/bad) on the V1.0 R15 above.
What about V2.0/S? I'm interested in knowing more on that front, being an S owner.

              Thanks.

Raza is absolutely spot on. Actually the 300V is overkill for most Indian bikes, especially that do daily chores. My personal experience of more than 7000 kays on the 300V wouldn't absolutely placate the oil worthiness. I personally felt the internals of the bike attaining nivrana so much so that all the parts started getting along with each other and created magical sounds, right from clutter to engine harshness to amplified tappet noises. IMHO, on of the best oils I've used for my 220 were the 5100 absolute brilliant performance. Cheap on pocket, being a semi-syn it was a perfect all rounder.

                      Cheers!

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

My model S is only around 8000 KMs/8 months old and the fully synthetic Yamalube is powering it, so far so very good. I don't have any experience with any other v2.0 R15 running on a semi synthetic like the 5100, so can't really compare. However I'm not sure how good a semi-synth fare on an engine which is suggested to be drenched in a fully-synth.
P220's OEM recommended oil is fully-synth, isn't it?

                        Regards.

Nopes, it's semi-synthetic. Bajaj's DTSI 10000 is mineral-based oil. And I've used both SS and FS on my 220 and it's always the case that the bike preferred SS 5100 than the 300V. The engine feel and performance was very much likable in the SS. The 10000 was drained in less than 3k on the odo IIRC.

                          Cheers!

Well, fair enough and thanks for sharing. Guess I'll stick to what I have currently(Yamalube FS) unless I have any real issue.

Almost all my odo reading has been done on SS oils.(Yamalube 15W50SS-the older variant, Motul 3100 Gold SS, Motul 5100 ester 15W50 SS,Shell AX7 SS).
In fact, i have used FS oils only twice(300V for 1500 kms and 7100 20W50 for 2000 kms).
