hey man, Sorry I won't be able to answer your current query, I am relatively new owner of R15.
if nobody is active in this thread. try posting your queries in R15 V2 thread. it is much more active and you will get your answers soon.
And internally both the bikes V1 and V2 are basically the same, so you don't have to worry about compatibility.

Calm down Mate! Here's the answer to your question:
Yes, you can use the Motul racing fully synthetic 300v oil. Or even the 7100 which is cheaper and more suited to road use.
But not in 15w50, go for 10w40 which is ideal for the bike.
Why, it is very lengthy to type here! ☺
      My pick: Motul 7100.

        • Need Cylinder Kit for Yamaha R15 (V1) - 2011 Model

          Hi Folks,

I am posting for the first time in this forum, as I am in a desperate situation. I need Yamaha R15 (V1) - 2011 Model cylinder kit. I gave my bike for service on 2-August-2016, for oil depletion problem. The problem is, we are still not able to find a cylinder kit for my bike. We have inquired other showrooms, but to no avail.

I am right now in Bangalore, can somebody please suggest me a place where I can get a new cylinder kit here?

I am ready to look around in Chennai, Salem and Coimbatore as well. Any help would be great!

          Note:

The color of the bike is black (if that matters).

Both are similar except pillion seat.

Traded in my CBR 250 for a r15 v1 for a couple of days, good fun, nice engine, loves to revved very high and is highly flickable but corner ability suffers due to the tyre size.

In terms of performance, V2 produces 0.5hp more, nothing big to compare, Pillion seat is where the main difference and looks wise, V2 is much better looking. it resembles R6.

If you ride alone 99% of the times(like me), get the V2. Much better looking and balanced looks. Looks good from every angle.
If you ride with a pillion get the S. looks like a superbike from front, but a 100 cc commuter from back.

I have a R15 version 1 which has been left lying idle for the last three years. I am looking for advice and help to get it on the road again. By now the battery must have discharged, oil (mineral) must be unusable, tyres are flat and become hard etc. A few questions like, are the stock size tyres from MRF still available and if so how much does a pair of tyres cost, how much do I need to budget for getting the bike serviced from Yamaha with oil and probably coolant change?

You mean an R15v1 2nd hand? Or you mean R15-S vs R-15V2? Understand there are 3 bikes.

R15V1 was the first R15 that was launched, stopped now. But so far the best R15 ever made. Better than the V2. thinner tires so yes, not pleasing to everyone, but a real handler and fun to ride.

R15V2 was a design made by public demand. Since everyone complained of the skinny tires, they upgraded with a longer swingarm n wider rear tire. While that improved the looks and straight line stability, it feels a bit lazy when turning into corners. Not as agile as the V1 (but still very very agile anyways)

Then people said my fat wife and my 2 kids cant sit on the rear split seat. so they got the V2, put a single seat on it n made it the R15-S. Its the same as the V2, except the slightly narrow fairing and the single seat.

                              Take your pick.
