Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
While riding in the city the 6 - 7k mark is a good threshold to upshift while the corresponding one in the highways (spirited riding) could be 7 - 9k. Given the nature of the engine it changes character only after crossing 6kOriginally posted by RoyalIndian View PostThe bike does not have a gear indicator right? Can you retrofit one?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Hi All,
This is to inform Yamaha that I m regretting after 6 years of buying R15 V1. The spare parts dealers in Ahmedabad & Mumbai are having hard time to source the part # 20PF21100000 (REAR ARM COMP.) After complaining Yamaha customer support, they are unable to provide any answer on availability. The bike is lying on its place for more than 3 months now. If i was aware that it will be so hard to source the spares, I wouldn’t have bought R15 ever. I guess, I need to spread the awareness among my friends and family members about parts availability in Yamaha.
Dealers say that company has stopped manufacturing this part and cannot comment on availability.
Can anyone help me in sourcing this part 20PF21100000 (REAR ARM COMP.)?
Thanks,
Hitendra

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Hi all,
Although this question must have been answered several times on the forum, I find it difficult to dig through all the posts.
So guys, My eight year old R15 is due for tyre change. None of the MRF dealers in NaviMumbai seem to have the original stock rear tyre, They say it is not available these days.
So what are the options, I want to change both tyres. Fuel efficiency is a bit of priory with me.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Hi Hitendra. I am also the proud owner of an R15 V1 (the very first lot). The part you are looking for is the swingarm of the R15 V1. It is indeed a rare part, and most dealers/stockists had informed me that it's unavailable in most of the places. I recommend you write to Yamaha India. They are the only ones who can help.
Hi Mike. I got news that the awesomely sticky original tires for the V1 (Zapper FY and Zapper S) are discontinued. Production has stopped. I managed to buy a pair in November last year from a shop in Indore. Try writing to MRF and to Yamaha India. Ideally they should help you out. Let us know what they say. If all else fails, the only option we have left is to switch to the new aluminium swingarm from the V2, complete with new sprockets, chain, alloys (to accommodate the bigger tires) and go for the new R15 tires. They seem to be in stock. It is an expensive option, and might alter fuel economy, performance & dynamics. But choices seem limited.Originally posted by mike autherton View PostHi all,

@ Everyone in general- Hi people. I was a pretty active member on xbhp for a long time, but then stuff happened and lost touch. But I'm back now (remembered my username & password). My bike is 8yrs old, close to 70k kms, and still going well. I don't see many of the old guys here. I remember Saravjit. Let's see. Will dig through posts.
Cheers!You get the point?? :D

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Welcome back! I am still here commuting on my R15.
Got an R3 to tour on last October.
I got a new set of stock tyres recently.
Some 2014 end stock.
My bike had a fall during last season's tour by a friend. Most of the LHS was wrecked, but mostly cosmetic except fork oil seals.
Now everything is fine so I am going to look into replacing the ageing rear shock and reduce the front brake lever play.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Also, you can write to Yamaha in your area
That was the website I tried it first. Even, they don't have the part.
Today, I got a call from Yamaha. The representative mentioned that the production for rear arm V1 has been stopped. They're upgrading the design and it may take some time to source the part.
Surprisingly, he mentioned that till date, you are the only person in India who placed an order for this part.

Good to be back! Congrats on your R3! That seemed like my natural upgrade, but alas, monetary backup doesn't allow it.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostWelcome back! I am still here commuting on my R15.

My bike's rear shock seems fine, even after all these years!
I'm getting disheartened everyday. Yamaha India's fortune reversing motorcycle is dying a slow death.

Haha. I doubt that Hiten. I personally know at least two people who got the swingarm changed in 2014. You can also try looking for scrapped bikes sitting in the showroom. That's how I had sourced a lot of difficult to find parts like the peg scrapers and the rubber bushes which cover the pilot light area. Try talking to a few mechs and check if they have an accidental R15 which is lying at the workshop for over 5 months with a functional swingarm. They might be able to help out.Originally posted by hiten89 View PostThat was the website I tried it first. Even, they don't have the part.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Hi everybody,I have a R15 2010 model V1.I am having a hard time finding the stock tyres of V1 i.e Zapper S 100/80-17 (rear) and Zapper FY 80/90-17 (front).I know this compound has been discontinued by MRF.My question is that,is it possible to get the stock tyres of V1 in any way as I love the soft compound and sticky nature of this tyres or if not, what are the other options I have? do I go with the new tire options of R15S?please let me know. Thank you.Last edited by Felicity; 04-09-2016, 05:52 AM.There's a light at each end of this tunnel you shout cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Hello!
Anyone from Delhi here?
I'll be transporting my motorcycle from Mumbai to Delhi for a ride on to Spiti Valley.
I have a Yamaha R15 and I'm looking for a good authorised service centre close Outer Ring Road pincode - 110087.
The reason I'm inquiring about the above is that in case there is any damage to the motorcycle while transporting, I would need to get the bike fixed on an urgent basis as we'll have to ride to Spiti soon from Delhi onwards.
Thank you in advance.
