Okay, here's what I understand:
1. As per manual, the filter needs to be changed at 1k
2. Its suggested to change the oil also with the filter
I'm thinking to change the filter and oil after riding for about next 150 to 200 km (Now its 850 km); this way, I'd:
1. Change the filter & oil around 1000 km (meeting the criteria above)
2. Use the currently filled oil for a few hundred kms (it'd not go totally waste)
Please correct me if I've understood it wrong or there's better way to deal with it.
Thanks!
PS: Those who did not know what's my concern- My bike's oil-filters were not changed during the first service.

Nowadays I rarely stay at home, so i use my bike only for a few days in between months. Recently, i took it out after 50 days unattended and believe me or not, it got fired up and running in the 3rd attempt. I also have a Stebel horn installed, so u can imagine how load i give on the battery.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostMy mother/sister will be starting it every 2-3 days!
In your case, see if someone can start it atleast once a week or 10 days. If you cannot, don't worry too much-this is an MF battery, 1 month cannot totally drain the battery out-though you might have to push start it once you are back. It will get recharged in a few kms.of running.
To be on the safe side, get it recharged completely before&after your trip if you cannot find someone to start it.
For 1 month, I advice u to cover the bike properly so as to not accumulate any dust !!2009 YAMAHA YZF-R15

They will smothen out within 50-60 kms of hard city riding, as you have poured in motul for the first time, let the engine get used to it.Originally posted by HotAntivirus View Post2 weeks back, I poured in Motul 5100 SS and the gear shifts were amazing but now they are very hard again, I tried lubing the chain but that didnt help either.. What should I do?
Dickheads, it is clearly mentioned in the manual. Get it changed at 1000kms as you said.Originally posted by kunnu@cbz View PostI had been to the ASC this morning (before seeing your posts) and strangely enough, the mechanics/supervisor and everyone advised me not to change the cartridge!
In fact, they said that even the Yamaha engineer advises not to change them before 10k.
Their justification- "We do check for the oil-filter cartridge and stainer during each service, clean them properly and put it back. There's absolutely no need to change it so early. We know the product and won't advise you anything which harms your bike."
I was wondering if they do not have the filter with them; so, went to the spares section and they very much have the stock of the filters. Before I left, the guy reassured me to trust their 'expertise'- they've serviced 700+ R15s!
Now, after reading your posts, I'm concerned!
BTW, the ASC in question is Pacer Motors (Bangalore). It'd be great if somebody from BLR could second this/throw some light!
PS: Hope I can get this oil filter changed at a local garage?
The tail region looks much much better than a stock but why the dual exhausts? Any fools would know it's an R15 at first glance so why the pretention? Same goes for the tank modifications.Originally posted by krishkanthr15 View PostThis is one of the neatest jobs i have seen on an R15

1 )My engine or something makes a noise when i start the bike .. sounds like Keeeeeee and goes on ..Thats the fuel pump making that noise.. You will get used to it
2) 300 Km so far and running at max of 55 .. is it fine .. Its fine. But rev her till 6 K only for a short duration not more than a min and make sure you dont stay in a single RPM for longer duration. Keep varying it. and once done with 500KMS you can rev her upto 5 K without any issue and then at bursts till 7.5KRPM for shorter duration.
3) My Front Lights .. when in lower only one side is one .. and when on upper .. both are .. can i get both the lights to work when in lower ?? who would do it ? yamaha store ? sorry but m a Noob .. Yes in low beam only one light glows and when in high beam both lights up. And its advised not to make both of them light up all the time. Battery will drain in no time.
and many more will come up with it later ..

I'd say stick till 4k rpm till 500-600 kms, 600-1000 you can do short bursts of 5k.Originally posted by dis-is-sid View Post^^

First of all let me tell u that the bike is not yet delivered and will take 20 days but my friends, relatives, strangers, enemies all of them saying that u should have gone for bullet or fz or 220

i'd suggest you buy 2 splendors in that price instead..your "relatives" would be happy then i suppose..
write to yamaha about this..Originally posted by kunnu@cbz View PostYeah, that's how I noticed it should be changed... but, am wondering what's bothering them, after-all, I'm paying for it?
btw are you sure they didn't change the filter in the first service?? look at the receipt..or even better tell us how much they charged you..if its around 800-900(asking this because you mentioned them saying about the change at 10k) then they have changed it else write to yamaha...
congratulations! and mine recently became 3 months old!Originally posted by Parth View Post
