The first oil filter change is critical, because all the metal particles that get grinded off as a result of the engine running in, eventually collect at the oil filter ( the oil carries them ). So thats why the oil and filter is replaced at first service.

If money is not an issue, change the oil as well for peace of mind sake. Its a new bike!
well my bike has done around 375 km and is due for the first servicing next week!
couldnt ride it much because i got the bike registered 2 weeks after the delivery .... so technically i have been riding it since last 10 days ... so should i or should i not get the Oil filter changed ???

It is not that one-what I got was a slightly fatter&shorter bottle&has Off Road Chain lube written on it. This one is Road Chain lube.
This is what I am referring to: Yamalube Off-Road Chain Lube - Bikebiz - New & Used Motorcycles, Motorcycle Parts & Motorbike Accessories

Btw, interesting stuff on that site-so many types of fully synthetic/semi synthetic oils&various other cleaners/sprays etc.too!

It might be a clutch cable gone loose.
i am using the Motul chain cleaner and the Motul chain lube - Road. they are doing pretty good and i brought them from the SVC and they did recommend me this only.

                • had a sad experience today with my friends r15..
i always knew that the bike had a huge speedo error but today i decided how huge exactly was "huge"
took my gps equipped cellphone and opened up the gps speedometer app in it and waited gps to lock in.. i found 7 satellites so i was assured that the results would be pretty much accurate and i set off...
to my surprise at the speed of 100kmph(actual) the speedo was displaying 115kmph
and when i maxed out at 147kmph the actual speed was 129 kmph
                  really disappointing yamaha

On the contrary, phone GPS is nowhere near accurate. The speedo error is about 10kph at 151kph speedo reading which is the max a stock bike can do on the speedo as the rev limiter kicks in here. Joel's bike was tested on the V-box sometime last year and with stock gearing if i remember correctly. The speedo error on the R15 is supposedly between 7-10kph AFAIK. If you want to test the bike with GPS use something more reliable and near-accurate like the products from Garmin. But a V-Box is anyday more reliable.

I was facing a lot of issues with my battery and I went to SVC like 10 times to get it fully charged.. Finally one day I decided to get it changed and I went to minda, but minda guys won't change my battery coz the serial number on the battery and the warranty card didn't match. I wrote to Yamaha about this and the next day SVC called me and I got a new tata green battery.

                          • 2 weeks back, I poured in Motul 5100 SS and the gear shifts were amazing but now they are very hard again, I tried lubing the chain but that didnt help either.. What should I do?
