    Yup i love that sound..
Ive had a loud fuel pump since day one.
it sounds great when after a long ride you come in the garage and the radiator fan is also turning at idling..
    Sounds awsome..

      • Hi guys, I have a query. I have shortlisted a used R15. During TD, the bike felt nice, but had a problem - the engine hesitates and jerks at 2-3k rpm in any gear. Beyond 4k rpm it performs fine. The owner said that since it was not used for about 8 mnths, the various filters have to be replaced and it will be fine. Anyone here experienced this? Can I go ahead with this bike?

BTW, apart from this, the bike feels wonderful!

don't buy it unless it is in perfect condition..
i suggest you ask him do the needful to drive away that "hesitation" and then take a td..if it improves, great, go ahead else..you know

even better if you go with him to a authorized svc and ask a mechanic the problem..
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

Did just that. The owner was very helpful! The service advisor told me a regular service needs to be done. According to him, the old fuel needs to be dumped and if necessary, injector cleaning. Now is injector cleaning something major/expensive?

injector cleaning isn't a major problem, won't cost more than 500bucks.

My bike's injectors are still clogged it seems, today i kinda ripped her till 6k on a cold-ish engine (3hr cold, I had returned from a ride about 3 hours back), and felt some serious jerks around the 3k mark. I'm not riding her till I get the injectors cleaned up

And Happy Diwali you guys, be safe

though i don't think it would be giving up as its just been 3months i've got the bike..
the clicking sound near the seat isn't what im talking about..its a sound which comes directly from the lever/cable
well thanks for the reply bro! and a HAPPY DIWALI to all xbhpians! and to their bikes too!

                  edit:@svj btw its friday..
Well, the pump sound is alright, but what I hate the most is that high pitched trumpet sound that comes from under the tank, randomely when the bike is off! Its so damn annoying sometimes, when I am standing next to my bike! My girlfriend kept laughing whenever it made that sound The thing about that sound is, it only comes when the bike is off, and it comes in totally random intervals! and its duration is also random. I definitely need some expert to explain what it exactly is, coz the other day, I got really worried since it made that sound almost every 5-6 minutes!

Yeah, riding with clogged injectors can be a pain. My friend has a CBR954RR and all the four injectors were clogged :P He had one hell of a time getting them cleaned since there aren't many superbike mechanics in our city The bike just lag or dies at low rpms :P

Well, in bigger bikes, atleast some of them, there is something called an EGCV servo motor, that control exhaust gase valves. This causes lagging on sudden acceleration if its broken. I don't know if such a thing exists on our small single cylinder bikes

                  BTW HAPPY DIWALI EVERYONE!!!

                  • Just got Motul 5100 Engine Oil added at first I didnt feel a change but after 20-30 kms.. The Gear Shifts are perfect now and the bike revs freely and goes perfectly without a jerk to the rev limiter. Just loving the change
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Motul is highly reputed, so no worries Semi Synth 5100 is the best suited for regular R15 riding Its a world of difference from the stock Yamalube oil..

                        BTW HAPPY DIWALI EVERYONE!!!

                        It's more like "tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" !

LOL, it's just petrol vapor escaping from the fuel tank! See, basically petrol is highly volatile and turns into vapor pretty quickly, especially when parked under sunlight where it gets heated. And if this vapor isn't let out, it can build up pressure inside the tank, and may burst out tank at extreme pressure, or at the least cause excess petrol to flow out from the pump due to the high pressure inside tank(like an aerosol can). Fuel pumps require normalization of pressure...so the vapor is let to escape through a small hole in the lid which you can find at the underside of the lid. It'll be like a small pin hole. Sometimes this hole gets jammed with water or petrol itself, and then gets released suddenly due to some reason(might be the build up of pressure itself), and causes this "tuuuuuuuuu" sound like a pressure cooker!

And yes, hope you and your bike've had a fun filled safe Diwali!

Ehhe, awesome Digislayer! Thanks for that explanation. I am worried, no more! :P I guess cleaning that pin-hole a little will reduce the sound intensity, cause it is unbearably loud

Will get the injectors cleaned asap. The clogging thing seems kinda moody, last night I had gone with my friend for a smoke, I ripped her till rev limiter in every gear and slowed down after the speedo showed 120. No lag or jerks felt at any time during the whole time (we came back at 3k rpm as I wanted to check the jerk thingy) .

Told you 5100 was totally worth the extra 20 bucks

                            Agreed.

Some one wrote a few pages back that a dry chain may be the culprit for hard gear shifts (I think it was tibby....but I could be wrong). I'm here to verify that it is indeed true. My friend has a 2008 R15, 14000 kms run. He was facing hard gear shifts, hence I asked him to get the engine oil changed. Still no difference, hard shifts (Downshifting was not happening once the bike had come to a halt, even with the motor running)

So I thought why not give the chain lubing a try. I inspected the chain and it was completely dry. I asked my friend and he said that he hadn't gotten it lubed since july. Some links were jammed , hence I tried cleaning the chain with kerosene and some links may have gotten loose but after 1.5 hours of cleaning the chain with kerosene and toothbrush, the chain had 4-5 jammed links. I asked him to take a ride thinking it may loosen up some more links, but it did not. Poured some more kerosene and then treated it with a water spray. Wiped the chain clean with a cloth (this time I did it with the engine not running, I've almost lost a thumb this way, Once bitten twice shy ) and left it to dry.

Returned to the garage an hour later, and lubed it with SAE90 gear oil. Let the oil seep in for about 10 mins and then took a ride.

                            and Voila!! smooth gear shifts.

So if anyone is experiencing hard shifts, lubing may help you
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

but as someone had posted somewhere earlier in this forum, it seems as if the bike is alive and is talking to you!!

So if anyone is experiencing hard shifts, lubing may help you
you "lost" a thumb? hopefully you meant something else..

and yeah as i mentioned earlier, i got the 2nd servicing done..
                                guess what??
the bike is now fabulous! better pick-up, lesser vibes, more smoother than before! better gear shifts! and what not!
got the yamaha chain lube (dry type) sprayed this time, seems to be much better than the earlier one..and surprisingly there is absolutely no sound from the chain at all!! really happy!

@parth, the lag has disappeared after the service, injectors were not cleaned...just an oil change, chain lubing, air filter cleaning....

p.s. didn't spend diwali with my bike..
had gone home for 15days..missed it like hell..
first thing when i came back was to go for a ride!
started in one crank as expected!
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!
