  • My friend had recently bought an R15 & got his first service done a few days back. The first service costed him Rs.1200.Coolant top up Rs.60,Oil filter Rs.516,Engine oil Rs.498 & chain lubing Rs.120.
Are the above mentioned prices appropriate??Do the oil filter cost Rs.516???

Sorry to say but your friend has been taken for a ride here. The oil filter the old imported one would cost 430 Rs. and the new one is 167 Rs. And afaik there would be no need to top the coolant during the first interval. I havent done it till 3rd service. The coolant remained at its level for me.

And here down south - chain cleaning and lubing would cost 100 bucks.

you get any oil you like but in my opinion get ss oil till 3rd after that switch to fs oil dont imidiatly change oil grade
check coolant level also and about chain cleaning and lubrication if you can do it yourself then its best way. its simple to clean and lube the chain at home just take tooth brush and kerosene and clean it then take any chain lube spray and lube your chain
chain lube spray start fron 350 rs you can buy anyone and one bottle can lube your chain aprox 25 time and save lots of your money rest is your wish

Yes it's quite necessary as when the engine is new the parts set in and due to rubbing against each other there is good possibility of these near microscopic bits to be in the Oil filter that might get back into the oil flow and damage your engine.

You are right Tibby, see i wanted to share the experience of having R15, as in all ownership report I have seen people get very technical, rather than just expressing themselves for owing this machine. So I thought to be a bit different Thanks for liking it bro.

I m planning to buy R15 so I called the sales manager of raipur area he told me that Yamaha is working on a new model but he has'nt got any official launch date. According to him It may be launched somewhere around april.

But that confirms that new model is indeed on its way.

                            • a new model is on its way by the Yamaha....it has been confirmed by Autocar India...the new model looks like the R6 and not like the R1...so if u like the R6 then wait or else go for the regular one....the engine is same in both the bikes....
