With tires, battery & basic service.. You'll probably have spend arround 7-10k

      Hi everyone ,
This is mithun from chennai. I got a R15S 3 months back .. 3 days before , had a slight fall which resulted in scratches on the left sides fairing and broken headlight cowl
      I have some questions now.
Took it to the yamaha service centre ,
      1) They asked me to replace the entire headlamp assembly also cuz of small crack in the doom when seen from inside. They asked to replace the headlight stay also as its bent. I have decided to replace the headlight stay alone and not to replace the assembly. So is it necessary to replace the complete headlight assembly due to some minor crack. The mechanic told it will lead to rattles in quite a few kms.

      2) The bike leans to the left after the fall which the mechanic diagnosed to be bent front forks of the suspension. Now , he said he can remove the bends from the forks and he charges 1000 for that. I was not convinced about the bend repair process , so I am thinking of replacing the forks. The complete fork assembly costs 6000rs. Now is it necessary to replace the complete fork assembly or just the inner fork tubes ( Each cost 1200) will be enough ?

      Experts please guide me.
      Thanks in advance.

For removing the fork bend,it won't cost more than 300 Rs in any part of the country. My 2010 model R15 had fork bend twice and both the times it costed me just 250rs in Bangalore. You no need to replace a fork just because of a little bend. The guy who quoted 1000 Rs is trying to steal from you.Be vary of him.

Adjusted the valve clearance myself.. spec info: inlet Valve :.10 to .14 mm exhaust valve: .20 to .24 mm. At first I set to the lowest value of spec and found the engine is getting hotter than before.. left it as it is to get cool and started the process next day.. set to .12 on inlet and .22 on exhaust.. replaced coolant with Motul motocool.. Engine is vibe free and smooth.. cleaned air filter by air.. replaced front brake pads with ASK (cheap and was a test) felt the front brake a little spongy in the beginning but better after 100km. happy diy job at home.. mine is a 2010 v1 (38b series)

Have you painted the insides of the fibre panel? How did you put back the mesh? It is generally very tricky.

Alloys are painted by Painter some 5 years ago
Mesh panel is from 2010 R15 I think
Tyre hugger is for R15 imported from Indonesia
Bike has many Yamaha accessories and main stand too 😎

Mudguard side covers and tyre hugger are from a chor guy called Harish on FB. I don't think the items even belong to R15. He kept money of the last order and didn't even send goods. 😬
Rest levers and other billet aluminium bits are Yamaha accessories which were launched at the time of v1 launch.

Yes, somehow don't like anything else. Just got a new set recently. 😎
