Yes the Iridium plugs run hotter.
And I forgot to mention, I don't think the squeaking noise is from the chassis itself. Get the swingarm greased and get all the bushes checked.
There are 4 side bushes costing about 400+ each IIRC. Also 2 more cheaper central bushes not sure how much.

I am referring to head valve seals not clutch seal for drinking oil issue.

Did you notice "CAR" in the article. The link holds true if you have a dry clutch. None of the bikes in India have a dry clutch.

Most modern day bikes won't smoke like a chimney. If your oil is getting consumed and there are no leaks then you have to open up the engine no other way around it. If the valve seals are gone then you have to remove the head and of you are removing the head then why not check the bore and rings.

Hey guys, Goutham here from chennai.
Got my R15 v2 last Thursday, drove around 30km to get to my place and just once more to the temple. The bike has been lying idle since then because it's not registered yet
Hopefully it will be done tomorrow and I'll be able to use the beast

                Hi Guys,

Just to update on my issue. I have contacted the Yamaha Service Center Personnel at Paras Yamaha in Mount Road, Chennai and understood the problem myself.

The piston rings had failed during one of my long drives and that led to the oil depletion. This led to the wear of the clutch too. I am now replacing the piston, bore and the valves together to ensure no bottlenecks and of course the clutch too.

As for the chassis noise, the guy said, he would try greasing first and let me know if anything needed a replacement.

Thanks for your inputs Sarvajit and black asp

Did anyone notice oil level reduction after using Motul 300V? I've used it for 2K kms.on my 2008 R15 and the oil quality is fine but level has dropped.
P.S. Engine is in perfect condition, 48K kms. No piston or oil drinking related issues till date.

Is this covered in warranty or on your own expense?

No offence to any of the 300V nuts who blatantly prescribe this oil to others, I would rather run my bike on piss instead of 300V.
