  • My bike engine sounds funny now. (Sounds more like a cruiser then a sports bike ) You know... That Dhoob Dhoob Dhoob sound that all cruiser make.

I have done around 12.5 Kms

Also I saw the hole in the silencer before the catcons, beneath the bike.

Took it to the Malad SS to get it checked.

The SS guy told me that the Hole is there to cool the silencer.

And as for the sound he says its because of the clutch housing and it will stay like this forever. (Told him about the clutch bell but i am not sure that guy has any idea what it is)

Did mention adjusting the tappets too but in vain.

So anyways any other SS in bombay Who know what they are doing?

Somtimes I am irritated reading and watching all the "problems and only problems" regarding our Superbike Replica!
But finally the intense Love for my bike subtles the problem part and am Once again in LOVE with my baby..
Though sounds like chak chak, dhoob dhoob, kirch kirch, khit khit, clik clik or mileage knocks or broken alloys or clutch, gear problems or battery drainage or many bla bla's really worries me that i too would be in the list one day!
Luckily for now am running on No Errands part..

        For you dude.,.
        YOU DEFINETLY HAVE THE PROBLEM!!!
Yea! With the bike too but the SVC part is more frustating than the sound of bike itself..
Get ur Dhoom Dhoom Machine to any other SVC chain across mumbai and get it checked..

Bout "Hole"- I havent noticed any till now but will go and check in ma garage ASAP!!

Yes! Sound of the bike changes from smoother to Huskier part.. but after that Run-in period,in new models it is changing at some good 200-300kms!
So definetly its Not the Clutch Housing..maybe some born leakage down the muffler hose..
Visit any other Service Center with ur Dhoom Dhoom babe asap!

        • How to get wider tyres on R15 ??

          Hey guyzz...

Note : I am just a kid and have no plans to buy any bike ryt now !!

But... I was wondering... if this was possible....

Can we get the FZ S'es front and rear tyre on the Yamaha R15 ?? I've seen many bikes mostly Pulsars with wider than stock rear tyres !! Once I saw an even wider tyre on an FZ16 !! But mostly I've seen the chain of such bikes doesn't run smoothly ...

So can we get just the same tyres as of the FZ S'es in R15 ... without affecting its performance, top speed, or mileage laregely ??

And one more thing what are all the problems that people face with R15 ?? I have always heard that it has a very cramped up riding position making it unideal for long rides ... is that right ??? I have read quite a few posts here at xBhp.. saying that its no problem but its about getting used to it !! still is the R15 ideal for long rides ?? like... 20km daily on city roads and 100-200 km or more on highways ??
Is there any other problems that u guyz face with the bike ??

I would strongly recommend sticking to the stock tyres on the R15.. they have been specially designed to suit the bike and the FZ's tyres for that model alone... you sure have to make a lot of mods to change the tyres of the R15 to one of the FZ's and it will affect the handling / performance / mileage for sure.

I own a R15 and have ridden 370 Kms in a day and can say it is very ideal for a city as well as long highway rides. Its just a matter of getting used to it. for more details you can refer to earlier posts on this issue in this same thread.

@ shanz .. nicely written BTW there seems to be no hole or anything under my bike's exhaust.. the SVC guys must be taking the poor guy for a ride. the first thing he should do is go to a better SVC in any nearby town and have a through check of his bike.

Bro, the hole is supposed to be there, but not to cool the silencer, but to let out any rainwater or any condensation. Its there on every exhaust. But the hole is tiny, and perfectly machined. If your hole is bigger or irregular, maybe the exhaust is broken.

Check again. There is supposed to be one. Right next to the place where the center stand rubber is supposed to go.

If ur asking that can one place fz's tyre on r15 without modifying the swing arm etc..than the answer is
                NO!!!

Pulsar and R15 are not only two diffrent names but they represent two totally diffrent era of biking too..
I wouldnt go into deep neither i would start the topic again but just one thing which i wanted to tell you is that watchin a Modded bike getting happy with it (without knowing wat it can do to my bike) and applying those mods on my R15 just because it looked cool (but ruined the performance) is simply the last thing I would ever do to my bike!!

These sized tyres will RUIN the bike..
Breaking,Handling,Riding,Top Speed,Initial Pickup,Mid Range Torque,Mileage,Leaning ability etc would simply chock and die in ur bike!!

                Riding position is Sporty!!
U can simply get used to it after riding an hour on it!!
It just needs some hearted efforts..

Winning Signal Grand Prixes,Emotional Rides,Just Riding with an old mate,Kissing the Air at some 120kmph,Scraping my pegs on swift Turns or Continously Riding for hours and hours i never felt anything like a sour back or wreked fist etc..it was always a rfreshing experience this time, everytime!!

                Hope u got ur answers..
                Any more queries..
                Feel free to ask!!

P.S. I Am Sick of replying to queries regarding "Broader tyres"..
I just cant figure out whts wrong with their views??
Test drive a stock tyred R and then an mod tyred R u will feel the diffrence and never in life u would ask bout Broader Tyres on R15

                And my young chap!
A piece of advice for you..
R15 is not for those who die for looks rather than adoring the Inside of it..
Its not for those who just buy it because its best on papers, its not for those who want to ride it just to show people that they are riding somthing unique,..
Its for those who want to feel the R in them, its for those who ride their machine as One soul, its for those who want to take every performance bit out of their mill, its for those who bought it coz it suited their needs, not because it owns the best specs,
So if u hav a passion for that R inside then only buy it..
                Else there are Fazer's , Pulsar's , RTR's too in the Market..

                Love ur Ride!!

                • thank you shanz for the tips,

i asked one of my friend he said the gear thing is way to tight for a newbie like me to ride it tht explains the pain in my ankle whenever i get off i thought it was process of getting used to the bike and he also said the sound when i change gear is in all the bike in india...im guessing its true or maybe wrong with r15?..

im loving the bike how its handling turning like ommg never felt so easy and kids going ' ammma suppaaarbikee ' when they see me go or some random apache guy asking for drag in a signal (which i refused )

Found the so called "Hole" even fingered it to check how deep..

                    Thank You pal!

                    @HumanOutLaw
Watever ur friend told isnt true..
Butter smooth gear shifting meant butter smooth Gears!
As told before use proper fuller harder Clutch..
Dnt shift gear till ur not sure that u had pressed the clutch to its maximum..
Still if ur ankle pains go to Service centre and ask them to lower ur foot pegs a bit..
That would solve the bait for u..

                    Any other Queries??
                    Feel free to ask..

                    • How much is the difference between the older R15 and the new one.. coz I am really sick of waiting for the new graphics R15 to come here. so i have thought of going for the older black R15 which are still there in showroom. Truly speaking.. i dont quite admire the graphic thing that is on new midnight black R15. This waiting period is killing me.. Got informed today.. that it will take atleast 10-15 days more...eeeehhhhh! I am sick... I dont know what to do.. should i go for the old model... I would definitely loose some grand while selling it after few years.. coz i will have the old model amidst of the new one...

The new racing colours are costlier by around 1,000 INR.. Don't bother about resale price as its only a cosmetic change.. You can get the stickers custom made/ from yamaha later

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Dude..i personally was going to suggest you the same..
Anyway you're going to buy the black one so no harm in buying the old colour..
There are 3 changes as far as i know...Horn, Graphics and the rim strip tape..
Rather than buying any other bike, go for this black if you cant wait..

                            mere dost..

Older black looks better than the new one in my opinion. I'm only going for the new ones mainly because of the much better horn. I've already booked my bike last week (told u na) still 2 weeks till their earliest possible delivery date.

My suggestion is go for the black, we still cant be sure if u can get the new one within 2 weeks as they said. Why wait any longer..

So, I kept checking with the SS guys(Pearl Yamaha-Kondapur) for the arrival of the cone-set, and just about 4 days back they said they got the parts and asked me to get my vehicle back. So, I went there yesterday and gave my vehicle at around 10:00AM cos I didn't want my work to be delayed on excuses of having too many pending vehicles at the workshop. I was told that the work will be done by afternoon, so I decided to wait at the workshop only(as they have a customer's lounge there). I waited until a little past afternoon and they then said it might be 4:00PM by the time the work is done(They didn't even start the work uptil then). Since it was only about 2 hours or so more for 4:00PM, I decided to wait again, and they then postponed the delivery time again to 6:30PM. So I now decided I'll go out for some time and return by then. I went out with a friend of mine, ate something and hung around a bit and came back by 6:00 PM, only to find that they didn't yet start the work on my bike!

They said a part(the bottom cone) was missing. It was one of the 5 required parts according to them. So they said they cannot do the work and asked me to come back the next day(today)..the manager there also told me that He already sent a person to get that missing part and that person must be on his way back, but it's already too late so they'll do the work next day(today). But I have coll next day and I can't bunk it(they have a very strict attendence rule here),..so the manager asked me to come immediately after coll at around 4:30PM. He said they'll use the same job card too.

So, I went directly from coll to the workshop at around 4:45 PM today. And, they took my bike and started work on it at around 6:00PM, opened the front and all. And then, I noticed the mechanic there was putting back the old bottom cone(the part which was missing previous day) only back into the bike while replacing parts. So I immediately stopped the mech and asked the manager about this, and he says "The person got the part yesterday but they misplaced it somewhere, and the person is not here". And they skipped writing this part's details even in the indent(The indent had only 4 part details listed out of the 5 required), but failed to inform me prior to starting the work. I just didn't agree to having an old part(the bottom cone was the most damaged one, and they wanted to just sand it to smoothen it and then put it back in). So, they put back the same old parts back into my bike even today, and send me back(It was 7:40PM by then). And when I try to talk it out with the manager, he just refuses to talk and says he doesn't want to argue, and that he'll tell me when the part arrives. They don't even want to apologize for anything that happened. He even says that they'll be busy the next two days due to the Yamaha's race event(And this is something I wanted to participate in too, but unfortunately can't anymore cos of my bike's problem), and hence can't do my work even in the next 2 days.

Now, can I call this as pathetic customer service? Hope Yamaha is listening. Just wanted people to know about this incident..

@svjhonda: Sorry man, you might now know what took me away from xBhp so long, "roaming around Pearl Yamaha"!

EDIT: My bike was purchased on 30th July 2008, so I might as well be denied of warranty now..but I made my claim on 20th June 2009, more a month before the expiry of my warranty(and I think the R15 has a warranty of 2 years! Correct me if I'm wrong).
dude pearl yamaha(hyd) or i guess any other yamaha center is the most shitty thing to happen with a yama lover,,thy r like the villains of the love story (lik the dad of the girl)..
wen i went 2 thz guys ,thy had nothing to show(colours),,n a big NO for test ride...(booking without test ride),,n even gav me the wrong price for the race kit ,,,

In simple words, if I gotta ride my bike only on the crowded city roads and streets; and am not dying for the R factor, and cost no matter... so which one is a better buy ... Fazer or R15 ??
