Battery

It seems my battery is finished now after only 42 months, it may just need charging, as the bike has been parked since the heavy rains began 5 weeks back. I have only being running the bike every 10-12 days for around half an hour. The first time I took her for a spin after being parked for around 10 days, the battery gave up on the 2nd crank and I had to jump start her, the 2nd time after around 5-6 days she started up ok, then I went for a holiday and tried to start her up after around 12 days, she wouldn't start, so push started her and went for a 20 minute spin, upon my return home, i switched her off and tried to restart, battery was dead, went for another 20 min spin, still nada.

So now if the battery is kaput, what are my options?

Not going to be much interested in another Tata Green as the current has only lasted 3.5 years

I can't find an Amaron dealer that stocks the 3.5 A battery, they all tell me that that battery is not good (I believe it's the same as what serves duty in the Activa)

Definitely not Exide or Minda.

I have read that a few guys are running Amaron 5 Amp and some with the 9 Amp, is either of these really feasible? Can the charging system replenish the battery properly?

Bro, sounds like a kaput battery,
but i do have an query, is jump starting a Fi engine advised. Have heard that its not good. Hopefully someone can clear this.

The average life of a lead acid battery will not be more than 3 years. That your battery lasted 3.5 years is great. I have seen batteries give up in as short a time span as 16 to 18 months. I am currently running a 9 amp Amaron (need the additional cranking power due to removal of the decompression mechanism) without any problems. However, it does not fit into the battery box directly. You will need to cut the battery box to make it fit.

I heard from many members 35 in rear, so the doubts are there.

2 yrs passed with my black knight!! Black R15!! Days were awesome right from begining, people use to write here i bent this bike at corner at speed of 80kmph-100kmph, braking is awesome, lights are goods, looks are very similar to R1......no...and.....on...

I was a Aspire rider, yes that 110% bike, with an average of 70kmpl blindly. My college days were with only one dream, a software engineer join a MNC and a SBK!! Nevertheless dreams don't come true just with small time in hand, it has to be long devotion, with dedication!
After joining one of the Biggest MNC in india, worked for 1.5 yrs and got the money scratches(khujli) what to do with this money??? 1.5L saving in 1.5 yrs Wow with all my rascalness, preety good!! But where to spent, Car! no it's expensive! then what?? a second hand SBK ?? yes serach was on, got few deals in mumbai for CBR400/Yamaha R1, Ninja big ones, Suzuki 1000, but all where lowest upto 2.5L and no loan I am never a supporter for 2 wheeler on loan in any way!! So the things got narrowed to P220 and R15, age old battle between these two was very natural, because a new townboy was making it's presence with new style and marking!!
P220 was for speed, dual disc, etc.But i am a big hater for bajaj bikes still i am. Was pissed of with Bajaj why not a FI engine and mono shocks, more or more it would have costed few more 10ks, that time P220 was for 83k OTR big bike must say with 220cc! but still din't feel like buying it. I am any way a new technology person than needs, but the questions was 150cc for 1.17L is it worth?? My friend brought a blue R15 and i took a ride after it's first service on western express highway, it was awesome, it was handling like a gem, brake was too good! top of that full faired bike a real sports bike with out any modifications, purely original!

Started the search for "on spot delivery bikes" but all showroom people said no, you have to wait for 15 days atleast
But i wasn't ready to wait when i am paying cash why to wait?? Searched more, after few days got a dealer in bhiwandi, who was ready to "deliver on spot" but on cash! And i had "on cash" ready. Made a booking of red R15 with Rs10,101/- as token/booking amount and asked him to be ready for next day delivery. Went to him on next day with a cheque of Rs1,10,000/- After the formalities of buying it, i asked for the bike he said Sir you wanted it with registartion or without??? If you take without then you have to come to RTO when my guy goes there for registartion for your bike, and if with registration then wait for 1 week. I asked him to show me the bike, he took me with him to godown and there were three bikes, Yellow, Red and Black. I had red Aspire, so suddenly changed my mind to Black and spoke to the dealer for Black, with luck, black wasn't booked. So now it was booked for me!!

In one week registartion over and i took my bike with me, it was a rainy season month of July, it was raining heavily and i took the delivery!! my odo showed 18kms! And i asked for all Do's and Don't!! brought home, did pooja and Next day my dad who was against a Sports bike he rode it to Titwala mandir and we did pooja!!

With in 10days my bike was hit from behind by a truck!! Thanks to god, i was waiting for signal to get green and truck man was seeing somewhere else. After hitting me at 10kmph he asked " Son, are you hurt??" i was angry but he was old so din't say anything, only one word "What uncle, see and drive, if you would have been in speed?? then you would have not talking to me??...lol...

In this 2 years never faced any issues with My R15! It's a gem piece! I love R15, if Yamaha Launch a R15 with 250cc then i will surely go for that then any other bike, Now having a Good realtionship with Yamaha!!

When ever visited SVC went with Smile came out abusing SVC, maintenance was higher, but this was my decision! FZ people use to get their service with in Rs550 and i use to pay Rs1300 free service, gods knows what was free here??
But bike parts were expensive but up to the mark!!

Never experienced any over heating or Mileage issue.
When rode for 80-120kmph got 34kmpl
When rode it at 40-70kmph got 46-51kmpl also!!!

But wasn't happy ever riding it slow!! Friends i have ridden this bike on all speed and every time it's more more more !! Now i am tired of speed, but bike is still like new beahviour!!

People sold R15 for CBR250, but i never felt like selling R15 and go for N250 or CBR 250, where as i love Speed and torque too.

One day one boy with CBR250 raced with me like hell, he was so happy that i wasn't able to catch him on staright line, but in curves or traffic i use to move ahead, when he was happy winning and waiting on signal,

We had a conversation:
CBR250: i heard that R15 wins with CBR250
R15: who said in staright line and open road no, not all!!
CBR250: I was at 145kmph! I won !! don't mind!
R15: Not at all, it was a difference of 100cc, next time don't race with R15 in open road then you won't say this!

R15 is ver close to my heart, i have booked CL350 too just for Ladhak and some big rides but R15 is R15!!

Till now spend alot on this bike:
1. Changed rear tyres 2 times in 22k kms (Rs2200 each)
2. Rear brake pads thrice (Rs1350 each)
3. front brake pad twice (Rs750 each)
4. mod both lights glows at a time lower/upper(Rs50)
5. never brought my bike to F region, get it filled by second bar!(Every time fulltank)
6. Rear side cover changed, right mirror changed(trcuk collision) (Rs 2000)
7. Changed rear Rim (Rs3200)

Dombivili SVC alsways charge me or any R15 with old rates only, he says octroi and other stuffs). But have good realtionship, he waits for e til late also to get my service done, never waited for service, i get serviced with in 2hrs)

Toured on my R15 to Aurangabad/Alibaug/ Nashik/Shirdi/ Lonavla/Pune/Kashid/Murud,etc
NExt would be Ladhak, himalay etc.

In all Hapy to keep my R15 for more ages!!!!
