      • Handling issue

My bike has done ~29K kms and next servicing is due in another 500 Kms. Both the tyres are due change in next servicing. Back from a 5 days trip recently and did a post trip inspection(lubing, coolant top up, engine oil check, tyre pressure check etc). Post inspection I went for a short spin and faced an issue. The bike is not very keen to attack the corner(tendency to stay straight), as it use to do before the trip. Also, while leaning in corner the front tyre wobbles a bit. The handling is not as good as what used to be before the trip. Is this behavior because of worn out tyre or do I need to inspect cone set or anything else.... What is the life of cone set and fork seal oils. I got the cone set inspected and tightened 6k Kms back. Any pointers would be helpful.

It might be because of the worn out tyres. Since you got it inspected and tightened recently, it should eliminate that source. Worn out tyres can change the dynamics of the bike a lot, since they are the only point of contact with the ground and gives feedback. If while leaning the front tyr wobbles, you might need to look into alignment there. Hope changing the tyres help you out. By the way, I assume these are not the stock tyres after 29K kms. Going for any other manufacturer (PSD, Michelin etc etc) or sticking with stock MRF soft compounds?

I see that you are from Hyderabad too. Can you help me out with the below mate?

QUERY : If anyone can help me out in finding an R15 V1 in Hyderabad please let me know. I am desparately looking for one preferably Yellow or Black. XBHP classified ads are not that helpful.

            • Well if your front tyres are only 10k kms old then check the alignment as told. Also if you facing problem in leaning, get the cone set checked as well and if possible get it open, cleaned and greased properly and see. if this doesnt get resolved then also check if both the chain tensioner are adjusted to the same number.

Will surely get cone set checked(if needed will get it changed). Do I need to get the alignment checked at some wheel alignment shop or the SVC mechanics are capable of doing that. Will check for chain tensioner too.

Just a query Shivanshu... What's the life period of cone set. I got it checked and greased only once in ~29K kms (just 6K kms before).

                • I got a new tire for my bike's rear. I took the mrf zapper c 100/90-17 which comes as the stock tire on P150 and P135. I chose it because I was not gonna upsize and the stock tire wasn't too good on bad roads and weared out quite quickly. Got the stock one changed at 25k kms. This one should last me about 30-35k kms easily.

Added benefit is that since this is a harder compound, it will keep me off my leaning antics due to that phsychological factor.

1800rs down, my wallet is a lot lighter now.

Check your front barings and Kone set!! There is no fast and hard rule that setting kone set solves the issue. Mostly if kone set issue is occured mechanic ask to change the kone set!! This happens moslty when bike is banged into some breakers or pot wholes!! And tyres are too depends on your riding and braking style!!

Mine was worned out in 16k where as my friends was changed in 12k only, he brakes and rides very insanely!! Even he has changed kone set two times, he never cares for breakers and potwholes!! Bad luck for that person who will buy his bike!!!

But i guess your issue is with the baring and tyres!! check that and mostly tighting the kone set doesn't solve the issue, it's just a turn around time!! til lyou change it!

No for wheel alignment if your SVC have the machinery for wheel alignment then its good they can do it, or else you will have to find out a shop for wheel alignment.

Noticed that the side surface of rear wheel is uneven(Happened after puncture fix by Mushroom stick). I guess the guy didn't place the tyre properly. Need to visit SVC soon. I ll get the cone set checked and replaced in next servicing another 500 Kms. I do extensive touring too but mostly on good tarmac. Will see whether cone set change is required at 30K or greasing and tightening would be sufficient.

                              • Bike's fuel pump gets heat up and don't respond till it gets cool down.

                                Hello guys

I owned my R15 from last 4 years and never had any problem in my bike in this time. But 2 years ago I faced a serious problem in my bike's fuel pump and it was due to over heating of the fuel pump as the bike was parked in hot open garage in my house for 1 month. At that time I visited at Yamaha Service Station for for multiple times but the service guys were unable to resolve this problem. Then a service guy found that the bike's fuel pump do not respond whenever its parked in hot places and indeed he was right, after taking it in a cool place (at least for 30 minutes) the starts perfectly runs like anything never happened to it. Then he consult with his area service Engineer (Yamaha head office Engineer) and after watching a citation that Engineer replaced the fuel pump under the warranty. After that time I even Leh'd in last year on my bike and there was no failure in any part of the bike.
But yesterday it was very hot and I started my bike in the morning after 30-35 days, as usual it starts at the self. Then I rode it a near by place and parked it in the parking, after one hour when I was about to go home it happened again. Bike's fuel pump stopped responding and because of my old bitter experience I knew that its a fault in the fuel pump, so I just take my bike in the shadow under a tree waited for the fuel pump to get cool down and after 1 hour I tried to start the bike again but it fails. Then somehow I arranged some cold water and pour-spray it on bikes fuel tank right after spraying 2-3 bottles of cold water on the tank the fuel pump starts making sounds like it usually do in every R15. So after that makeshift troubleshoot the bike gets started and I returned home. Then I talked with Servicing dealer, he told me that the fuel pump must be replaced to resolve this problem and it cost around Rs 7500. I was astonished with his words and thought how cheap is the built quality of Yamaha spares. A module costing near about Rs 7500 has a lifespan of 1-2 years. Then I talked in the Yamaha head office regarding this complaint and they also asked me to replace the pump and told me that this time it will not be covered under warranty. Now I am very disappointed with this crap bike & cheap spares maker Yamaha Motor India.

And there are a lot of people in our area who faced this problem and there's no solution except replacement of the module. So anyone there who faced such problem in his bike? Anyone there who knows where can I get the fuel pump repair?

And after repairing I will definitely switch to any other good built brand like Honda or Kawasaki.
