Low coolant
I did some reading of the manual I downloaded from the link,i didn't see what kind of coolant to put in it. Oolong with everything else about this bike I want to make sure to get the answers from people with the experience . Can I put it straight into the radiator because its the resivior thats indicating low. Once again thanks for the info and help with keeping this machine on the road and the two tires on the road as well. By the way I'm getting a new tire for the back. It is showing alittle dry rot on the side wall and also dont hold pressure. I want to put a wider tire on it but not too wide got any suggestions for ideal tire size front and back other than stock size?

1. The best coolant for your bike will be one that is a premix coolant like Motocool by Motul or Engine ICE.
2. However, both these coolant are not mixable with other coolants. Therefore, you will need to flush the whole system before you use them.
3. As scheduled service, Yamaha recommends that you change the entire coolant every 2 years. Therefore, its time for you to change your coolant if it has not been done already.
4. I personally use Engine Ice and am very satisfied with the results. The engine is thermally more stable due to the 4 to 5 degrees of additional cooling index given by the coolant as it provides a greater cushion against heat.
5. If you choose to go for Engine ICE, do go through the recommended flushing procedure that they have mentioned on their website Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant - Home FAQ section.
6. Regularly when you top up the coolant, there is no need for you to top up the radiator. However, if you want to still check the level of coolant in the cooling system, you can do so by checking the radiator. And you can top up the radiator and the reservoir.
7. I personally would never recommend a bigger (wider) tyre. It affects handling, gearing ratios and power delivery (all for the adverse). It affects your suspension dampening, weight distribution and centre of gravity. It is best to stick to stock size tyre. It is also worth noting that same size tyre from different manufactures affect and behave differently.Last edited by abhimanyu31; 06-17-2012, 01:13 PM.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

im being quoted for stock tyres 1850 for front and 1950 for rear. Should i go in for them?Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostCeat are not as good as stock if you love ripping and cornering, pirelli has a soft compound i think for rear one which stays good till 6k kms than its useless, stock ones are good last around 17000 kms. i just replaced mine where front was 2050 and rear was 2350.

i have been quoted 1850 and 1950. Thanks for the advice, il try and find a genuine MRF dealerOriginally posted by abhi_underdog View PostBuy from genuine MRF dealer, it costs 1650 for front, 1800 for the rear. As for ceat tyres, neo_akshay had ceat vertigo, yes the button type one, and even he was satisfied with the performance, took some time heat up (less of grip otherwise)though.

and how much would they cost?Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostI could not find the stock MRFs so I went for the IRC NR 77 (front, 80/90 - 17 M/C 445) and Pirelli Sport Demon (rear, 100/80 - 17 M/CLT 52H).
Note that the Sport Demon is actually a front tyre for the Aprilia RS4 125, and Yamaha YZF R125. No tyre manufacturer (other than MRF) makes a rear tyre in the 100/80 - 17 size.
So the big question is how well does this Sport Demon work as a rear tyre? Answer; very well indeed. There is no problem with stability, and the grip is as good as the MRF stock tyre. The ride is also very good.

I think thats a pretty ok deal, considering the ridiculous prices others have been quoted. Try haggling if you're buying both.Originally posted by Aditya7 View Postim being quoted for stock tyres 1850 for front and 1950 for rear. Should i go in for them?

Wow abhimanyu31 you are like a walking motorcycle manuel. I can't tell you how thankful I am for all your help. Its funny how all these things are needing to be done at the same time. I am pretty sure the guy who had the bike before me want maintaining it well. Its fun to learn this bike though, especially it being my first bike.

Awesome Performance in Rain in line!! 2yrs!!
Friends,
On Saturday i was riding my R15 V1 on eastern express highway and it's still performing same!!! Excellent tyre grip on wet roads with waters !! Excellent braking!! And engine is still perfect!! Thanks to Yamaha for this best Machine!!
I am glad to see that even after 2 yrs with new OEM tyres bike performance same!!
I was riding 80-100kmph and bike was stable with rock solid grip!! But i din't go beyond that becuase after all it's a machine!! Can't rely 100% on wet roads!!
My Suggestion to my fellow xbhpians, Please ride below 100kmph in rain or wet surface!!
Get your tyres changed if necessary, check your brakes/pads, etc. Service your bike before it's heavy rain, So that it can sustain heavy rainy weathers and necessary actions can be taken!!
YAMAHA R15 Rocks!! .......

You will need to use 0.623 quart (590 milliliter) for the radiator (including all the routing) and 0.264 quart (250 milliliter) for the coolant reservoir. In total you will use 0.887 quarts.Originally posted by Freejohnsond View PostOne more thing it says on the website to use 2 bottles of the coolant for street bikes does this apply to the 150cc engine we have?Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
