warm wishes for a happy new year to all riders!
since recently i've been feeling that my tires have started losing grip..
i don't get as much confidence as i used to while cornering...
once or twice it has so happened that under heavy breaking, even my front wheel locked up!!
which was damn unnerving!
have completed ~14k kms in over a year and a half..
the tread still looks good though...after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

Happy new year and low end torque question!
Happy New Year! to all xbhp forum members. This is my first post on this forum, but I've been reading this for almost a year.
My first question here is, what can be done to improve the low end torque on R15, because whenever I have a pillion rider, and I'm myself a heavy guy, the engine feels too stressed until it reaches fourth gear. Almost it sounds like a overloaded diesel bullet. I have read in a FZ6 forum that a cheap mod would be changing the sprocket. Is it recommended? I'm ready to sacrifice some top speed for getting a considerable torque.

At what rpm you upshift your gears ?? Do you keep the bike abovethe range of 6000 rpm when you ride with the pillion ?Originally posted by raja26 View PostHappy New Year! to all xbhp forum members. This is my first post on this forum, but I've been reading this for almost a year.

Yes I keep the bike above 6k rpm but only after 4th gear not until then. Because until 3rd gear anything above 4k rpm makes some serious (stressed)vibrations in the Engine as well as the fairings & wind shield. I have inquired about this vibrations with our Service Center Mechanic but he said, gear shifts should be around 4000 - 4500 rpm at the max and to maintain the bike in good condition and vibration free.
Actually, I'm the kind of rider who usually do not want to stress or abuse my Engine. But only after reading this ownership thread extensively, I have ridden my bike at higher rpm in low gears (9000+ rpm in 2nd gear), just hoping that it would handle all abuse. Somebody told here that it is an Engine to be revved high
. Then again I felt like I lost the breeze. There seems to be some tappet noise too.
PS: My bike is just 4100+ km old and properly ran in.Last edited by raja26; 01-03-2012, 04:41 AM.

reduction will only give you a slight more top speed with poor low end torque, just fit a sprocket with 2-3 teeths more then the present oneOriginally posted by raja26 View PostThanks for the reply, but how much reduction yaar?Down the GEAR and DISAPPEAR

I regularly do my gear shiftings at 8000-9000 rpm and i doint felt any vibrations at all, Check your oil level, engine mount bolts and tighten all fiber casings.Originally posted by raja26 View PostYes I keep the bike above 6k rpm but only after 4th gear not until then.
