  • Wow! Good to see so many people joining to give me company in reporting bout roughness and vibrations past 6k RPM or so

Seriously.. I never thought an R series machine would give up so easily to heavy-throttle riding, I expected more atleast cos it's an "R" series.

On a serious note.. HydBiker/KP, maybe we all should consider someone outside the ASS to do a few jobs properly for us, like the tappet adjustment, timing chain tensioning, etc.
    Sunny.

Got the tank filled up yesterday after stopping at 5-6 fuel stations. But don't worry, there is only a lack of supply, so all the fuel stations will be up&running in a couple of days time.

@HydBiker: I checked on an empty road today while returning from office. Guess it was just in my mind-there is no engine roughness, only grunting. But no denying the fact that the character certainly changes after 6K RPM. There is hardly any grunt below that speed. Have not experienced any vibrations so far.

@Aman: Sorry to hear about that unfortunate fall. Hurts when you know it wasn't even in motion&it had to fall, that too in the supposedly safest place-your own home! However, the same thing happened to me too. A curious newspaper man happened to lift it off the racing stand accessory&I was ripped off one footrest (Rs.65)&a billet clutch lever accessory(Rs.1100). Almost lost an LED indicator. Luckily you don't have those, coz they're sold as a set of 4 for Rs.2800!
Anyways, coming back to the point: I guess the stock indicator costs around 150. Important thing is:while getting the touchup done, do make sure that the color matches perfectly as R15 black is metallic. Also ask the local painter to clear coat the patched up area for exact matching.

@Vibhanshu/HydBiker: You're right-the meter is not accurate. I have noticed a major flaw in it especially in reserve. The reserve meter comes on with an 'F' when in running, runs till the engine is off. Then, the next time I stop&start it after sometime, it starts the reserve meter again. This happens since the fuel float shows the tank reading at a certain point, but on slopes it may differ as the tank is not upright. I find the knob system is more accurate!

Yeah! Something has to be wrong, I am already at 175 Kms and still 4 Bars are up. Not only in riding time but even when the bike is still for long time (me sitting on the bike without stand).

And count me in too. After 5 days, theres some extra sound coming when I ride it. This happens when I am riding the bike but not when idle. Seems to be from chain (not 100% sure). I rode it from a road where there was a lot of water. The previous posts tells me that it can be the Chain!

            • @Hydbiker & R15Rocks.. thanks for your suggestions man..

I was thinkin of putting that tank protector cos that scratch is in the same area.. that wud save me the paint job and also any further scratches. Again, wud hav to shed rs700 for that.

It doesn't mean your speedo is defective or something. Its only due to the fuel not being stationery. I've found that this problem occurs only in the beginning when it is in Reserve. After 15-20 kms.it remains in Reserve no matter how many times you switch it off&on. I don't think you'll get the accuracy even by changing the meter, coz it is designed in such a way.
If you have read the manual completely, it says that even after you fill fuel, the reserve meter takes about 5km.to disappear-I hope you are not considering that also as a flaw!

@Vibhanshu: It is only due to riding in water. Thats one reason why I avoid riding in the rain-no patience to lubricate the chain etc.after every ride. One cleaning/lubrication spray&its all gone. Don't be skeptical about the bike man-its just a week old! I still maintain its an excellent bike which does hold composure at very high speeds-no drama, no vibrations, excellent handling&high speed stability&braking, but does show some signs of weakness when subjected to extended heavy throttle usage. You'll understand as time passes.

                  • i agree with the above person . same experience here bro replacing the speedo is not an option and speedo is not faulty drive 10-20 kms in reserve you will never see F meter counting again from 0.0 km

                    • I second R15Rocks. I remember rushing to the SS a day after I bought my R15 to solve this Fuel meter query. The service head at Pro service told me that as soon as you hit the fuel reserve on your bike the fuel meter starts blinking and shows an F sign to indicate that you only have 1.9 ltrs of fuel left and the new reading shows the distance you have traveled after reaching this point. Also, this fuel meter works accurately and comes handy when you are touring or munching kms at a stretch. When it comes to city riding, there is a very good possibility that the fuel meter will reset itself when you have park the bike on the side stand for sometime. To counter this problem, I immediately reset one of my trip meters to zero as soon as I hit my fuel reserve and the speedometer displays the "F" sign. This trip meter reading helps me exactly calculate how many kms I have traveled after this point.

I also do the same. Reset my 1st trip meter when I fill fuel&reset the 2nd one as soon as I see the 'F' meter showing up. Better having 3-400 ml.more of fuel in your tank than less of it! I wouldn't want her to run outta fuel or worse: cause problems with the Fi system!

                          • Peculiar behaviour of the r15 tyres.
From the day iv bought it , i use the bike oly on Sat and Sundays ,
Rest other days parked at home,
If not ridden for 3-4 days also , the pressure drops down considerably , 3-7 psi.
This Was not the case with pulsar.

Plus when i tour say on a 5 day trip , the air loss is almost nil, say 1-2 psi.
                            U guys experienced this ?

Air loss is normal , agreed , But to this much , im surprised .

                            • Hey Santa, that's a common phenomenon as far as tubeless tires are concerned. Always used to happen in my car. Was thinking that something is faulty with the rims or valves. Now its also happening in my bike. Ask some reputed tire dealer who deals international brands and tire alignment stuff. He should explain it to u better. Mine did, but I forgot.
