  • Why aren't gear shifts smooth below 5K? even with the clutch?

there is always a thud/clunk sound, esp when i am commuting,

when i am shifting at somewhere around 7K-10K, even the m'cycle doesn't realize that it is up by one cog

      Thanks shivanshu for your help!!!!
Had a talk with dealer and he'll change the engine oil with a brand new yamalube for my peace of mind

B/w gearshifts are rough and and sometimes to simply refuses to downshift!!!!!
Also the bike makes so much noice in 1st gear at 4-5k rpm, as if it has hit redline!!!!!
Great Blak, and yeah gearing are rough in begining dont forget your bike is just around 20kms old, once it gets used to your riding style you wont even feel the roughness. And also check if the gear lever is adjusted to your height as that also makes a difference. Dont worry about the noise, its normal it tends to make several noise which I realized later and still learning with mine.

guys was thinking abt a temporary stand just for chain lubing ect which one should i go for RX100 or RX135 stand???
Buggy I have myself cruised on 115kmph for about an hour in peak summers with temperature touching around 45degrees, and bike runs smooth and when the engine is all warmed up the throttle becomes more crisp. If the engine overheats you have the indicator above your speedo, the last indicator on right side, it will start glowing. Otherwise she is a great machine meant for going non-stop for hours with comfortable speed of 100-120kmph.

RX100/RX135 stand both are same, go for any. make sure that it fits properly.

        hello friends

i have seen a crack on my rear tyre i am also posting a pic of the crack i dot know what to do, the air leaks regulary, i need to refill the tyre every 3-4 days. i have done around 6000 kms on my bike. The tyre shop person asks me to change the tyre but my mechanic says it can be treated with a thick heat patch from inside.

              • Well done yamaha!!!!!

As I posted, my brand new bike had an oil leakage problem.
In that concern, oil seal ring was replaced and necessary work were cxarried out for that.
However i was really depressed and sad to see all that happen(engine side cover opened, oil drained, etc). So sad that i even didn't felt like touching her and came home and slept and didn't took her for a drive and show her to friends.
To see all this happen, my dad filed a complaint at yamaha and there was really nice response from them, he got calls from delhi heaquaters then from rajasthan headquater(Jaipur) and then from showroom, they were really sorry listen all this happen and fixed my appointment with Head of Raj. headq. at showroom. When i reached there were 3 head officials ready and listened to my problems. All querries were answered, and no problem as such was found but as i had problem with engine oil being taken out and then being put back(possiblity of dirt and other foreign particles entering) and then to compensate for the lost oil some other oil was added, they changed the oil with semi-synthetic one.

Overall i was satisfied with the response shown for all that happenings that ruined the day of my life which had to be the happiest one till date.(afterall i had waited for 2 painfull years to turn 18 and simultaneously own her)

Nice to have a good and honest dealer, with good buisness ethics.

Now i can say YES YAMAHA!!!!

                @shivanshu and SiD13
Yeah roughness has reduced with the kms being clocked and engine noise is slightly above normal but i believe it being settled down after run in is complete. Till now i dont have any problem with the gear lever position maybe coz I'm just 5"7 .

Yup, those thuds exist. It is annoying. But, this is one experience I want to share. At about 7k to 8k kms..My Clutch lever turned too hard and rough. After repeated lubing and greasing, and even taking it to SS..There was no improvement. I asked them to put a new clutch cable. Once that was done, my gear shifts became much much smoother. It was definately not psychological difference. So you can give that a shot. Rs 76 or something is a new cable. Or check with chain slackness and the usual things related that you know. But, yes those loud thuds and clanks, though minor still occur at the Rpm you have mentioned.

                    • looks like the new r15s are full of problems. i own the first batch r15. it is a gem of a bike. i have been abusing it since day one. i had never faced any engine related issues. the engine is smooth like butter. i tried out many things like FFE, K&N ,modified air box, excessively rich A/F ratios...etc etc etc. still the bike is in top notch condition.now the bike is in bone stock condition. i have pledged to keep it that way for the rest of its life.

                      • Running-in almost done!

                        Hey guys,

8th day of ownership with 950km on the odo.. Waiting to drop the bike for service tomorrow after doing a hundred or so km today! Amazing piece of machinery.. Saved my life yesterday! Was on the left lane with a bus on the right ahead of me, ass of a guy suddenly cuts left to stop, overtook him from around the rear right of the bus to find a moron auto-rickshaw taking a U-turn right in front of me. Managed to maneuver around him, all the while braking. Some good stuff considering i was doing about 70 when the bus cut me.. Wud've crashed for sure on any other bike. But the R-15? Smooth and stable at ANYTIME! Love my bike.. Treated her to a wash and polish done myself!

Getting approx. 40 km per liter of gold-oil right now.. Verrrry happy. Like i posted earlier, there are vibes with the bike, will get engine mounts and such checked at the 1st service as per what i was advised here. Im sure tappets need adjustment too. Will report on the service after i get it done.

Just one question. I bought the bike at Perfect Riders, Lalbagh, which is bout 10km from my place. There's a Pacer Yamaha Service Center 4km from my place. Since i bought the bike from Perfect Riders, should i preferably atleast get the 1st service done there, or shud i go to the other one which is much more convenient?

Since you are facing issues with the bike, get the 1st service done at Perfect Riders. They would be more recpetive & responsible as you have bought the bike from there..

After the 1st service, you can get it serviced where you like & as per convenience..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                          • @akhil - the new color bikes are being made in india (the engines specifically ). There were some issues initially, but now the engines are the way they are, though the indonesian engines that came in the first lot are better in terms of refinement.

                            • MRF & R15 rear tyres

Had a long discussion with a couple of MRF representatives (Vipin G, sales person for MRF & Raj Kumar, dealer - Sri Krishna Tyres, Banaswadi 9886198357) at the MRF motorcross event that was held here in Blore today regarding the shortage of rear tyres for the R15.

                              - Initially they said there is no shortage but occassionally it might not be available at some dealers. I told them I called their Main Office on Infantry Road & enquired about tyres & was told that it is not available with any of their dealers. These guys said its not possible that the head office people couldve told me that. Maybe I imagined the conversation with the MRF head office .....
                              - They were telling me nobody has complained of lack of R15 rear tyres. I told them to go check xbhp and they said they know of the site (didnt claim to follow the site, big difference)
                              - They said if any of us want a tyre all we need to do is call Mr Raj Kumar (9886198357) and pick up one at the actual price. Thats right, no black market business for them. I told them that I would put up the details here and they said no problem. Sri Krishna tyres has stock right now.
                              - Said that I had already bought a 100/90/17 Zapper for Rs 1700 (with bill) from Naveen Tyres, Koramangala. They admitted that I had paid more than the actual price of the tyre
                              - Cited the example of Mr Gaurav Lal, who ensures that all of us buy Michelin's at the right price in our cities and dont get cheated by dealers. I asked them whether they would do anything now that they have admitted that I paid more than the MRP. They started giving some gyan on how people make money in business blah blah. My mentioning customer satisfaction had no impact on their argument.
                              - Told them that a large number of people are moving to Michelins (example the 220 brigade is getting Siracs) and was told that Michelins wont last on Indian roads (!)
                              - Took them quite a while to admit that there is a gap in supply & demand for R15 tyres. Due to the labour problems they are not able to meet OEM demand for several vehicles which is why they are paying hefty penalties to manufacturers
                              - They admitted that stocks of R15 rear tyres come in very small quantities but get lapped up usually on the same day itself. Often by other tyre dealers who sell them for a handsome commission
                              - One gentleman passing by added that MRF dealers sell directly to the Yamaha showrooms in black ensuring that its a win win situation for them. Sucks to be a customer though. Orion Motors sells the tyres for Rs 2500 when the actual price is Rs 1500.

While the gentlemen were very polite and friendly, I found the company's attitude to be wrong wrt the overcharging of my Zapper. On one hand we have Mr Gaurav Lal & Michelin who are winning over xbhpians by ensuring we get a fair deal for good quality products & are happy customers at the end of the day while one the other hand we have MRF, who have dominated the market for so long that customer satisfaction is getting a back seat & they dont seem to be bothered about it. They were telling me, you paid 100 bucks extra, its ok, happens to all of us. I explained that I understand the dealer pulling a fast one on the customer, thats business but I was not happy with the fact that as company reps they know about it & dont seem to care when their competition does.

Personally, I would shift to the Pirelli that is now available or a Michelin 100/80/17 (if it gets launched) the next time I need to change my tyre.

Sorry Bout going off topic but I need help... .. I've got water, leaves etc in my headlight assembly thanks to a 'trusted' mechanic who forgot to put the rubber sealants back behind the assembly.

Now, would anyone know how i can separate the assembly? I mean, i got it removed from the bike and stuff but how do I separate the Hard glue? Please don't mention the 'oven' method because I think it's a bit risky moreover i don't own one.

If any members around Chennai could help I would very much appreciate. I had messaged Digislayer about it but he hasn't accessed the site in a while.

                                Please help..
                                thanks
