In this regard, I really need new front brake pads for my R15. My bike's pads are worn out, & I need to get them replaced ASAP. I want the lower priced brake pads as it will work out to saving of over INR 300.
Is there anyone who can help me by couriering the part to Bangalore?
I don't want to wait for a month, for the parts to arrive here.

IIRC, the lower priced brake pads are avilable in Kolkata, Hyderabad (& .....) .
For guys in Bangalore, the lower priced front disc pads (Rs. 390) are available at Perfect Riders, Orion Motors & MSP Motor World).
I got mine changed yesterday by a local mechanic. He charged Rs. 30, vs. Rs. 85-Rs120 quoted by Yamaha SVCs. One local mech quoted as high as Rs.200 (only for fitting, i.e. labour)

I want to know whether it was too early . As per my riding style , I heavily rely on sharp braking and brake pads did take a toll .

You are right wrt the prices. 7k sounds decent for hard riding & braking.
I don't ride too hard, & my bike's front pads lasted 15.5k Kms (got it changed yesterday). The rear is still stock & going strong.

A reminder to all aggrieved R15 riders to drop spares related concerns/ complaints to the below mail ID. You will only help other fellow members, & help solve our problems

I just had a word with the Marketing incharge of Yamaha, & voiced my concerns regarding non-availability of lower priced spare parts (in Bangalore) & low quality of newer parts (as reported by some of you here).

The concerned person was of the opinion that he wasn't aware of the quality issues w.r.t the newer parts (like brake pads) as he hasn't yet received any complaints regarding the same.
I would urge you guys to drop him a mail regarding the issue(s) you've faced at the id [email protected] , so that our complaints can be looked into.

You can also drop a mail at the above ID for any spare parts related issues(s) w.r.t the R15 & FZ (not sure about other bikes).

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

actually thats the fuel pump not the injector.

                @Sallubhaismart

looking good brother. follow the running in as per the manual and invest in some riding gear
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

I have the stock tire as of now and want to change them. My bike's just done 4.5k kms and the rear wheel has gone quite bald. Always have been a fast rider and am a big fan of serious cornering. I want a tire that has larger contact area to allow better bending during cornering while also being light so that I dont lose too much performance or mileage.

I get around 43km/liter right now and want it to stay that way :P . What do you guys suggest? I did see previous posts talking about bigger tires but none answer my Qs specifically. And yes, tire dimensions aren't a concern as I am getting around 2 cm of my swingarm filed from the YAMAHA SVC for fitting the larger tires. They have done it to a lot of bikes before and say its safe.

                      Thank you guys, in advance.
If You're a fan of serious cornering, focus on Body Position, Lean angle and sight. Get all that right ( if you haven't) You'll forget your Riding on a 100/80 section Tire. These tires inspire immense confidence while leaning over. Looks can be deceiving brother. If You want looks, go ahead change into a Fatter tire, but don't expect the Bike to corner to forgive you give you the same feel in return. You're just playing with the Dynamics of this Bike.
You want to change, into a fatter tire and corner and expect a better Mileage in return? You cannot expect the Best out of Both the worlds at one go!
                      All the Best!

Also, I know a guy who got it removed using an oxy-acetylene flame, and the swing-arm got bent slightly due to the heating. It wasn't visible to the eye, but was evident later once fitted back onto the bike. You really think it's worth all these risks? I'd say you're much better off with a stock tire. I redline my bike all the time, and a corner freak just like you, and my rear tire still lasted around 8-9k KMs. My rear tire required a change twice by the time my front tire wore out.

And about the HID lights..well, you're good as long as the battery doesn't get discharged completely! And anyways, HIDs actually are supposed to consume lesser energy(except while igniting/starting) than a halogen.

Getting fatter tires for looks purpose is completely understandable but justifying it with contact patch...

How much contact patch do 190 section tires use while cornering?

Why cut the swingarm&spoil the brilliant handling dynamics of the bike?
Oh my, I never thought of all that. Actually, what happened was, I was riding on this really awesome road that goes up a hill. Its got lots of great curves and corners. It had previously rained and the road had traces of water on it... around one corner, I bent the bike to the point where the footpegs were a cm or two away. I do corner with body weight shifting etc etc.... at one point, the rear wheel just spun faster and the RPM suddenly rose high, indicating slip... before the bike could fall, I reduced throttle and straightened out... but was really shaken.... so, I decided maybe a fatter tire. I know the current compund is awesome but wet weather kills it. Anyway, I've decided against a tire change now, instead, wont corner hard on wet roads

Thank you guys for the valuable advices

Hahahha, dude, that sounds comes when I sit on the seat, even when the key isn't in! My friend explained that it was either the Fuel injector or the pump that ''sensed'' the rider sit because of the change in bike position and started up. Well, I am not sure if he's right, but what other explanation is there?

There couldn't be gnome playing a trumpet inside the engine, could there?

When you are cornering/leaning, shift your body position, but try to keep the Motorcycle as straight as possible. Lean, but don't let the bike lean.

On that corner, you were either in a higher gear or the traction was less. If the road is wet or dry, but if there are no debris, I don't see why you can't corner.

I know that it will cause glare to oncoming traffic, but other than that, what detrimental effects can I expect?

Will it cause any damage to the reflectors and/or the glass of the headlight assembly?
I have been using HID's (without projector lenses) for around 3 months now. The R15 reflectors are made of high grade plastics and dont bend, melt, blacken or get damaged in anyway because of the HIDs. I can vouch for that. No side effect for me in anyway. The awesome road visibility can more than make up for the battery issues. But you gotta have 2 batteries, or you'll drain out in no time.

                              • @Sheelpriye: I went into the corner in the 4th gear and didn't downshift during the curve. I was quite surprised myself why the read wheel suddenly spun out. Thanks to the bike's awesome stability, I was able to stabilize myself again. If I had panicked and braked, I would have definitely crashed. .... Nopes, no debris on the road either. I dont blame the road. Nor the bike..... maybe something else I did wrong..
