  • Hi friends how are you all? I'm a college student from Assam & this is my first post here. I've a Blue R15 bought on Sept 2008 & clocked only 2774 Kms till date as I use my Palio 1.6 more then my bike. Actually I'm facing a strange problem with my bike since Nov 09 i.e. whenever I ride my bike at slow speed say within 3k rpm I hear a kit-kit-kit sound from right side of the engine & my bike behaves as if there is no fuel but as soon as I take it above 3k rpm then it becomes normal. When I faced this problem for the first time I went to my nearest SVC, the head mechanic there changed that Rubber Cap of spark plug & wow that sound was gone. I was so happy but next day that same problem resurfaced. He (head mechanic) changed the spark plug & it was fine but after 2 months I again faced that same problem. This time I told him to replace both the rubber cap & spark plug but unfortunately after 2-3 months the same story. Believe me guys so far I replaced 3 rubber caps & 3 spark plugs but this kit-kit-kit thing appears again after a gap of 2-3 months. He even checked the spark plug connection wire but it was ok. So what shall I do now?

That sound definitely indicates a spark leakage near the spark plug adapter(the rubber cap that you're talking about). It generally doesn't occur so frequently..and happens only when there's seepage of water. Where do you park your bike? Do you pressure wash the bike near spark plug area? Is the adapter fitted to the plug tight enough without any gap?

            • Guys,, Please throw some light on this...... Is Yellow rear seat cowl available for R15? When i asked svc, they say rear seat cowl is available in 3 colors only, Red, Blue & carbon fibre. Is this the right information?
If you need a reason to ride, you are not on the right bike.

              • Ride to Ooty.

Recently, went on a trip to Ooty from my hometown ( Mysore) along with a bunch of friends. The roads are awesome and my bike was ''awesomer'' . Recently had HID bulbs fitted on the bike and they worked like a charm! The halogen bulbs feel like candlelight now... They also added another Amaron battery in parallel connection to the stock battery, so no battery problems I must say, Yamaha truly did a wonderful job with the R15.

Having a parallel battery will not solve the charging problem. It'll just give you a longer backup time. It means, you'll have more time before the batteries get discharged..but they'll eventually get discharged as long as the charging current is not sufficient enough. Not only this, having parallel batteries means charging also will take longer..the batteries now need more time to get charged fully, because the charging voltage/current is still the same and it hasn't been increased. To increase the charging current, you need to alter the charging coil, which is not advisable.

Buddy.. this is just my opinion. The carbon fibre seat cowl looks like an altered seat coz it is black. I think if it is not available.. we can buy a single seat cowl and paint it to Yellow... Right???? IT will look stunning with yellow single seat cowl..

believe me black one looks good. it isnt bad at all.
the paint job wont be as neat as the original black.
i suggest you to get a black one. try on the bike for few days
if you still need the paint job can get it done

                            • News for R15 owners in Bangalore

I spoke to a Yamaha Official sometime back about my frustration regarding non-availability of spare parts whose prices have been revised downwards recently (like brake pads) in Bangalore.
He said that the lower priced parts should be available by end of September, or early October as dealers here still have the old stock (higher priced parts).

In this regard, I really need new front brake pads for my R15. My bike's pads are worn out, & I need to get them replaced ASAP. I want the lower priced brake pads as it will work out to saving of over INR 300.
Is there anyone who can help me by couriering the part to Bangalore?
I don't want to wait for a month, for the parts to arrive here.

IIRC, the lower priced brake pads are avilable in Kolkata, Hyderabad (& .....) .

                              My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Search in JC road man. You will get them.In jc road these days you get all the R15 parts.

To save 300 bucks you might simply spoil the 1600/- bucks worth disc plate IMO.

If you get any made in Singapore front break pads anywhere let me know man i want to get them .
