Hey, We go to Lavasa Pretty much every Sunday and there are a lot of other guys too. Check out "Pune offline Meet thread" for updates and etc. Hoping to see you soon.

Ok, I have a small problem. Since the Past month, after a Pressure wash, my bike starts to lag. It shuts down on it's own and doesn't rev when the throttle is applied. It's happened every time ( 3 times ) after 3 pressure washes. It happens only for a Km max and then it's perfectly fine. I pretty much know it's a spark plug issue. Bike's done only 16000km, but will be changing the sparkplug this week. Could there be any other issue?

few guys also faced the same issue
svc guy told me that this is a common issue alot of r15 owners are facing
      specially in the rainy season
spark plug is the culprit according to my knowledge

The plug itself may not be the issue-it would mostly be the plug holder cap, which might have formed cracks&is passing the water through to the plug.
My older bike is facing the same problem&I'm planning to replace the holder cap at the next service-it didn't start once even after removing&cleaning the plug etc.

Also checked the disc, it has some kind of circular ring all over it.. some slight roughness with even lines can be felt when touched with fingers...
I am doubting the culprit of my brake pad being worn out so soon, may be due to this. Coz I mostly use front brakes and just tap the rear one... my front disc pad can still last for a good year (going by the width of its size)

Please reply with what needs to be done and also the current new price of Rear Brake pad...
I got my R15 rear disc pad changed today . The List price of rear disc pad is 690 (older one was around 1100) and the front one is 390. i got both the disc pads changed at 7k . I want to know whether it was too early . As per my riding style , I heavily rely on sharp braking and brake pads did take a toll .

For a rider who heavily relies on braking, 7k kms life is fine for the brake pads. Mine lasted around 8k kms, and I too accelerate and brake heavily. About which pads wear out first, it depends on the riding and braking style!

Not only this, having parallel batteries means charging also will take longer..the batteries now need more time to get charged fully, because the charging voltage/current is still the same and it hasn't been increased. To increase the charging current, you need to alter the charging coil, which is not advisable.
Yes, but I use the HID lights only on highway riding. The setup has halogen bulbs for the low beam, so I rarely use the HIDs in the city. Besides, the oncoming traffic is always dipping their lamps and I get tired obliging to them all the time . So, as of now, my battery still shows full charge when measured with a multimeter. Guess, I've balanced the charge/discharge cycle.

                  • Rear tire!

Ok, now I have a doubt. More of a question. To the R15ers in the forum who prefer ''fatter''/'bulkier tires on their bikes. I have the stock tire as of now and want to change them. My bike's just done 4.5k kms and the rear wheel has gone quite bald. Always have been a fast rider and am a big fan of serious cornering. I want a tire that has larger contact area to allow better bending during cornering while also being light so that I dont lose too much performance or mileage.

I get around 43km/liter right now and want it to stay that way :P . What do you guys suggest? I did see previous posts talking about bigger tires but none answer my Qs specifically. And yes, tire dimensions aren't a concern as I am getting around 2 cm of my swingarm filed from the YAMAHA SVC for fitting the larger tires. They have done it to a lot of bikes before and say its safe.

                    Thank you guys, in advance.

Hehehe, I was quite surprised myself when I saw that he's (electrician) gonna put another battery! The AMARON battery (sealed) neatly fit into the under-seat storage space!

Will put up a pic tomorrow

I second Parth here. That extra plating that's stuck to the swing arm aids in structural rigidity. You might loose torsional rigidity and structural strength if you cut them off. It's like ribs on a plastic body, adds structural strength. Also, I know a guy who got it removed using an oxy-acetylene flame, and the swing-arm got bent slightly due to the heating. It wasn't visible to the eye, but was evident later once fitted back onto the bike. You really think it's worth all these risks? I'd say you're much better off with a stock tire. I redline my bike all the time, and a corner freak just like you, and my rear tire still lasted around 8-9k KMs. My rear tire required a change twice by the time my front tire wore out.

And about the HID lights..well, you're good as long as the battery doesn't get discharged completely! And anyways, HIDs actually are supposed to consume lesser energy(except while igniting/starting) than a halogen.

About the HID's.......I have a question actually, What will be the consequences if I put a 35w HID bulb in the assembly without putting a projector?

I know that it will cause glare to oncoming traffic, but other than that, what detrimental effects can I expect?

Will it cause any damage to the reflectors and/or the glass of the headlight assembly?

What makes you think that the present tires won't 'bend' if you corner?

Getting fatter tires for looks purpose is completely understandable but justifying it with contact patch...

How much contact patch do 190 section tires use while cornering?

                              Comment

                              • If you are cornerning more, reduce the tyre pressure by about 2psi&lean happily-you'll still get more contact patch than a 120 section tyre due to the compound!
Why cut the swingarm&spoil the brilliant handling dynamics of the bike?
