I have a question - there seems to be some sort of mild resonance vibration in the handlebar/pegs in the 4k-5k range. After this range it smoothens out, with the smoothest being at 7k-9k rpm!
Is this normal, the bike just feels a bit uncomfortable at the 3k-4k rpms?
(BTW, the pull from 7k onwards just caught me unawares today! Pulled her till the rev-limiter came on at 10k + rpms
)
@Sarvajit - Thanks!Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

^^ hehe, its not supposed to be ridden in that range, unless you are in the bottom three gears! ok seriously, its normal, but if its excessive, check the chain for lubrication and cleanliness.

I think the chain may be loose.....get it tightened and try again

I will check the chain. Let me rephrase my question a bit - say you want to ride at 50kmph constant speed for quite a distance due to the road conditions, what gear/rpm will you choose? We do not want to bog the engine down, nor do we want to keep it on the boil knowing that we will not be needing the acceleration for some time.Originally posted by Parth View PostI think the chain may be loose.....get it tightened and try again
And one more thing - the vibes seems to be solely from the handlebar - that too the further you are from the steering stem, more is the vibe, most being at the ends at which point it is easily noticeable at those 4k-5k rpms. Once again, is this normal?Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

^^ ideally 4th gear, but if you coasting, you can upshift to 5th. But not higher.
If the vibes are really high, then get the steering stem checked. I havent checked this thread in a long time. How many kms done on your bike.

No vibes at the stem/tank/pegs- atleast nothing noticeable. Only the bars vibrate somewhat. I just dont feel as comfortable at 4k-5k rpm as I do at 7k and above. Its a borderline case! Anyways I will oil the chain and see.
Its a 5k+ kms done Dec 2008 model which I brought 2 days ago, hence want to know about her characteristics.
And its running on fresh Yamalube Mineral Oil.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

1) Yes, thicker tyres will look better. But suddenly, the R15 you bought will transform itself into Just Other Commuter 150cc Bike. The road-grip, & handling will go down.Originally posted by hardcorebiker View PostPlease reply to one by one to each of the comment below ( Hopefully i will give them the same reply someday)
1) The tires look skinny ..better change the tires and it will look more better
2) Its only 17 bhp? 220 is 21 Bhp...220 can kick R15's ass... (I just said that let the running in be completed and lets prove it)
3)FZ is better than R15 as the pickup is slow( They saying this since they rode it with speed of 30 to 50 kmph..as i told them to do so )
2) Its a 150cc at the end of the day, but faaaaar superior to other bikes in its class. Please don't get into racing/ dragging on public roads to "prove it".
3) Comparatively, FZ is definitely better in slow/stop-go traffic. Its a commuter bike, & they are built for handling well in slow moving traffic.
The tyres are built for tarmac, & hence grip better on it.Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostHi friends,
One question as i am riding my new R15 in her running period i noticed when i ride her on tar roads she feels more planted and gives zero bumps but same time when i take her to a bit concrete roads she bumps too much at times making me feel that there is a puncture which is not there.
Is there any air pressure recommendation for riding on concrete road or tar roads?
F/R of 28/33 PSI is recommended. 30/35 is also good, but you might find it a bit bumpier (down to personal ride-quality preference)
Some bikes do have vibes in the 4-5k range, more so at the footpegs. Its normal.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostI have a question - there seems to be some sort of mild resonance vibration in the handlebar/pegs in the 4k-5k range. The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
