Yeah I know that and I am loving the machine its just that i was letting u know how people think about R15 when they dont know much about it...
Some truly said " Its better to have No knowledge than half knowledge"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another question (Hope I am not troubling u all
)
1) Its not raining here these days but for future case if it rains then i heard that we have to lube the chain
Now my question is suppose If i go out in rain everyday then do I have to lube the chain everyday?
2) I heard that the chain shud be lubed every 400 kms or so ...Does that mean that I have to lube my chain at 400 kms before servicing? cant it be done on the day of servicing itself?Check out my Yamaha YZF R15 Ownership Review

mine always gives 33kmpl exact !!Originally posted by dis-is-sid View Post1.9L to be precise
25 to 30 ???

u have certainly done the calculations the wrong way my friend !!!!
the bike is bound to give you more!
mine gave about 36-37kmpl in the run-in period and consistently gives about 42-45kmpl now!
!!
its completed 2.5 years [brought it in first batch]
i guess newer r15 gives more milage .. i guess some improvements in engn done compared to older one..which are imported

firstly, i got 40+ during run-in..Originally posted by hardcorebiker View Post@Veyron...
Hey thanks a million man...I completely understood that and thanks for taking out some time for writing all this
BTW ... what mileage you used to get during running in period...I think I am getting 25 to 30..

Guys forgot to tell u something
I took my bike to college and yeah everyone ofcourse was starting at me and even girls
A girl of my class even asked if i can take her for a ride ( I dont talk much to her tough and i dont like her :P )
I ofcourse said know as there are many of my relatives around
Anyways moving ahead some of my friends took the test ride and I sat back hoping that nothing bad happens to my bike on 1st day..
After the test rides there were few who liked the bike while there were some who were Truly Jealous and I could make out from their face and words..
Please reply to one by one to each of the comment below ( Hopefully i will give them the same reply someday)
1) The tires look skinny ..better change the tires and it will look more better
2) Its only 17 bhp? 220 is 21 Bhp...220 can kick R15's ass... (I just said that let the running in be completed and lets prove it)
3)FZ is better than R15 as the pickup is slow( They saying this since they rode it with speed of 30 to 50 kmph..as i told them to do so )
Damn I was trying to put my point but noone was understanding...bunch of fools..
So let me know ur views
secondly, as Baloo.Mech said R14 isn't a poser bike..
even if it looks awesome, the design is for a reason-aerodynamics..
it is the only bike in production in india in its class to have been designed in a wind-tunnel..
people are idiotic comparing the R15 with other bikes..
no need to prove yourself..
make a note of one point bro, when they start comparing it is equivalent to them showing their jealousness..
AND DO NOT LET OTHERS RIDE YOUR BIKE!!
its a biiiiig warning..
specially in the run-in period when the bike adjusts according to your riding style..
and don't even think of changing the tires..
YAMAHA asked MRF to make these tires specially for the R15..
you wont find them on any other bike..they grip like hell ON TARMAC..
they are special soft compound tires which have a higher contact area than most of the other bikes..
put simply - thin tires-more performance, more mileage, more agility.
fat tires- fat-ass looks, compromise in performance, chances of screwing up the chain sprockets, loss in maneuverability..
you won't be able to corner as well as on the R15 on any other bike in its class..
then again how to you expect YAMAHA to launch a bike over 1lakh and sell a "better" bike for much less??(FZ)
same with 220, don't compare both of them..
i personally chose the R15 for performance+quality+better mileage than 220,ZMR,ZMA+reliability.
lol at the 3rd point!! R15 has a slow pick-up!!
look at videos on youtube bro..it does 48kmph in 1st gear..
before even posting such comments here, you should think twice..
The R15 has tremendous potential which can only be tapped into by a rider of that caliber..

if its too dusty where you ride, lube it at 400kms interval..
if it ain't too dusty neither rainy then postpone it further but keep an eye on the chain..if it looks starved of lube, get it done; if it makes noises, get it done.
i suggest you use the yamaha dry type lube..(lasts longer, keeps rear rim clean!!
)
if it rains, get it lubed accordingly..

ain't that too low??
i get 42-43 on moderate riding, 45 on <70 speeds and 35-37 on insane riding!!
could be that the newer ones are greener!!
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

Darn, expected a few more replies from more guys!
Will check out the Agip oil that the showroom recommends. Will take pics of the can and will check the grade before i put it in. Servicing my bike today, 12000km done.
A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

thanx dude ...Originally posted by Rider One Five View PostKoti has some decent shops. They do stock even the more expensive LS2 helmets. There's this place with a bunch of helmet shops together, half a km from Big Bazaar in Koti. I didnt venture further, but there might be more shops ahead.
Real tough to find helmet shops in other places in Hyd.
Wish DSG had a dealer here. Dying to get some decent gloves to wear for my R15.
Whatever doesn't kills me only makes me stronger....

Max mileage I've ever got is 53kmpl, this was after first service but during this period I was keeping her below 4krpm.
Min. mileage I ever got was 33kmpl, this was when I was riding only on weekends, hence was ripping more often.
Normally I get around 40 (+/- 2kmpl)
I've always checked mileage via. tank full to tank full method.

dsids: I didn't mean it that way, when I had the option I went for power and now missing out the finer things ! So I said what I said
I meant if anybody dislikes the 15, I'm willing to trade my 220 with their 15

Help on buying 2nd hand R15
@ all R15 owners
It’s been more than 3 years i am riding RE Thunderbird
God its maintenance cost a bomb.(10 to 15k every year)
So i have decided to shift to R15
I am looking for a used one.
Please tell me the things i should take care about and what price for first edition of R15
I am located in yamunanagar and will prefer a bike of the same city.
Traffic moves slow here.
Bumpy no no very bumpy roads.
No place to touch top speed.
Have seen r15 in hands of posers only (no helmet, riding rash)
Thank you
PS: Damn yamunanagar roads i will take her to hills every Sunday(65 km far from here)Last edited by amandeepkamboj19; 12-01-2010, 02:17 PM.

Hi friends,
One question as i am riding my new R15 in her running period i noticed when i ride her on tar roads she feels more planted and gives zero bumps but same time when i take her to a bit concrete roads she bumps too much at times making me feel that there is a puncture which is not there.
Is there any air pressure recommendation for riding on concrete road or tar roads?
