Yeah that was for about 450Rs when I got it. Still have it..I only lube it every 30-50 days along with cleaning.

its good to have one. The ASC guys charge something around 80Rs or so for cleaning ad lube, better do it on your own on one of the Sundays at home

the best thing is that, you can use if with any other O-ring aswell. So it'll be handy with your next bike too. (hopefully it'll have O ring)

Word of advice, use it outside only, cos I used it in my garage and it spoiled the floor, took about a months time to get that off

        • I bought my bike in Aug-2011 and had 3K Kms.

Now I am interested in Stickering my bike....

Someone plz suggest the good logos which suit for my Yellow R15, should be sporty & trendy.

I am thinking to place a sticker on the left rear side (just below the pillion seat).

Any ideas where I can get good work for this one in Hyderabad? (madhapur, Kondapur, KP area).

My tyres appears as white, even after washed. How to get rid from this?

          • Speedometer not working!!

From yesterday evening my speedometer has stopped indicating the speed. Only when I turn my bike it starts for few seconds and again stalls on 0. Has the speedometer wire to ECU become loose because when I move the wire bundle below the fairing its starts woking properly for some time and then again stops? Also the engine warning light came on twice but again when I moved the wiring it became off. I will be going to the service station in the evening after office.

Also which is the best service station is Pune? I bought the bike from Monarch Yamaha so had done the first service there itself day before yesterday. I think the wire must have become loose during the servicing.

Anyways completed 1200 km in 15 days. On Highway getting an average of more than 50 and in city riding more than 45. But this average was when I maintained a constant 4 to 5 rpm speed. Now as I have completed the first service i will be testing the full potential of my bike. Will this affect the average and smoothness... I mean after hitting the top speed will I get the same average I am getting now if I ride ride with speeds below 60?

My exeperience with my old bikes (P150 and P220) was very bad as initially it used to 70 and 40 respectively and when I started riding fast (max speed) avg went down to 50 and 30 repectively for both the bikes and never went to the initial one even after riding at normal 50 to 60 km/hr speed? Also the engine smoothness had completely disappeared.

About the ride comfort on R15 - It still pains in the palms not the wrists but some how I am addicted to riding on it and feel very bored when I sit on any other bike. There is no back or shoulder pain.

Another thing I would like to share is that i feel the bike is underpowered at low rpms till 4 or 5 as I was used to the power of 220 (its gives adrenaline rush) but the same is compensated by the extremely good average as I have to travel around 70km daily.

Thats all for now... will soon write about the top speed once I test it.

3: Keep the slack almost 3-4 cm (measured at halfway, I keep this much so that the chain is not overtightened)
both the sides of the adjusting plate should be set at same no. like sarvjit said, else the alignment would go for a toss
4: Only tightening the axle nut will do.Nothing to adjust near the pillion footpeg.
Also 1 more thing required is a double stand or a race stand (costs rs1500)
Thanks man!!! will try it soon..
already bought the R15 main stand from yamaha.. no probs in cornering till now.. 650 bucks for stand.. + 150 for fitment springs and all..

                  • best solution would be claim insurance on the bent Rim..
tell them a story, of how a car cut you and you went in a pothole.. thats It.
90% claimable.. better get it under insurance..
rest all are quick fixes and dangerous..

don't tell them, you have been riding your bike..

                    • @ Shshank - show it to Yamaha Factory Shop wakdewadi and talk to nitin, he is SVC center head and sits on 2nd floor, and he will resolve your issues, Secondly when you compare 220 with R15 you gonna feel sluggish as both are different power category in BHP. Regarding palm pain try using gloves when you ride it as i do the same. About mileage in pune xbhp all are getting an average of 32-35 kmpl unless you rev too hard to her. Dont know about V2 as majority have V1.

@Pranit - Is the bend a major one or slight side chip off? The later can be easily repaired if you are a city rider and dont wanna claim your insurance.

                      • R15 suspension

                        Hi guys,

I had sold my P200 and got a year old Limited Edition R15. I am not getting the kind of riding comfort that I used to get with my P200. The bike is not able to cushion even small potholes. Is this normal for R15 or do I need to check my bike's suspension?

Check your riding style first, with someone who owns a R15, also if possible ride his R15 to confirm the issues. The issue can be due to the suspension setup too, either the previous owner made it too soft.

                              • Hi Guys..!

Got my bike on December 1st week. Its a blue V2. Though i have posted it on the V2 ownership thread, there seems to be less activity in the V2 thread compared to V1 thread. Maybe all xbhpians already have their V1's...

Anyways, thought it will be good to post here too. Hence the copy/paste.

                                First post on December 5th.

Short version- Got my Blue/black YZF R-15 v2 delivered today...

                                And now, the Long version...

WHY- My first vehicle was Honda Dio, bought in 2002 during my 11th Grade. Its still very much alive and active. The best scooter out there. And always puts a smile on my face when i take it for a spin. But for so many reasons, in all these years i was always denied to get an upgrade. Three years back when R-15 v1 was launched, i was still a student and a dependent on my parents support to buy one. And even when they did, they got me an i10 for final year college... Now after two years of owning an i10, it has made me realize, i aint meant for 4 wheelers. And so the decision to get a bike.

WHAT- This is short. I like R-15. Respect its engineering brilliance. And i ride really HARD...

                                WHERE-
(This can be very useful to prospective R-15 buyers in chennai city). I started hunting for the ideal dealer for me. And then i came to know that a dear friend of mine was family friends with the owner of JAIN MOTO BIKES. Now everybody would say thats a great thing, and so did i. So after some intro and phone calls, i ended up paying my booking amount and was told a waiting period of 2 weeks. This was on 28th November. The following days, the sheer frustration and disappointment caused by JAINS MOTO BIKE, especially with their arrogance and attitude made me feel so sick and disgusted for booking my bike with JAINS, even though i had proper contacts. But i can blame no one other than the bloody manager @ JAINS. That SOB was manipulating me into paying the full cash, saying the bike has been recieved in the yard, and i can take delivery on 2nd december, when actually they never got any such stock. It was then and where i decided, i should stay away from such ppl in business.

And then again the hunt began for the proper dealership last Saturday. Almost every dealership didnt have the qualification or decent customer friendly attitude to run a bike showroom. It did put me off so much so that i even was ready to give up on YAMAHA. Yes! I need satisfaction too. Not just the bike. If they dont know how to treat you, they sure will not know how to treat your bike.

Then today, the last showroom i had to visit, SRI MOTORS near kasi theatre. Having faded all hopes over finding a proper YAMAHA dealership in chennai, i was really glad i visited them. "A class" customer friendly and customer oriented service. Definitely recommend them.

THE BIKE- I was already fixed on buying the blue colour. Walked into the showroom, introduced myself and told them that i was interested for a Blue R-15 and full cash settlement. To my surprise, the sales person said that they have one, that arrived in their recent lot, not been booked so far, for instant delivery! So, asked for a PDI. Was duly allowed to, and i did a complete PDI. Then proceeded to the necessary paper works. Paid cash. Was handed over the bike in perfect manner as how a dealer should do.! HAPPY CUSTOMER...! HAPPY DEALER...!

Couldnt register it though, and tomorrow being a National holiday, i decided to bring the bike home unregistered. Didnt feel like leaving it behind in that godown when i made all cash payments, which means i am responsible for whatever that may happen, and i cant deal with that. I am in no possible situation to ride my bike beyond 50km on the odo till i get my registration done. Which will happen by wednesday.

As of now, I am a happy man, and gonna enjoy every mile on this Legend of a bike..!

                                UPDATE- December 11th- Today.

So far my bike has clocked 300kms...first oil+filter change was done at 150km...lots of metal shavings both in the filter and the oil...thought the filter was supposed to have filtered the oil from these shavings...but it hasnt...!!

Also talking with my SVC mechanic, i am not sure whether he has particular knowledge of this or not, but told me that all R15 bikes comes with Semi-synthetic pre-filled before bike delivery, which implies that the first 150kms on odo was with semi-synthetic... As all would agree, is not good during run-in. Whether this is true or not, i am not sure.

Now bike is running on Mineral oil...! 300kms done, pending for a oil+filter change tomorrow, just to compare how much of metal shavings has been developed in the second 150kms.

Just my suggestion, and not for argument...!
-During delivery, insist on oil+filter change, if you wish, i have no idea with what oil they filled in mine...I regret for not doing this during my bike delivery...
-Do the first oil change by 100km atleast. I dont see the filters working at their best potential. And the second oil+filter by 300 km. Use only mineral oil.

Also please let me know if the oil filters are same for 38b series and the 1CK series. Cause the filter used during change was indeed a 38B series filter
