PS: I have replaced the starter motor with a new one and cost + labor set me back by 1900 Rs. Just contemplating about the repair of last starter motor.
a normal car electrical repair guy will be able to fix it. its normal wear and tear. the people who work on car alternators will be able to work on this too.
just check with garage nearby kondapur and check for the guy who works for the car wiring and all.. he will be able to service it. keep it spare

Thank you Vinit, yes it will be coming up soon.....

            Here you go ---

A Yamaha Die Hard Fan.... with over 60k kms clocked in about just 3yrs

Yes Yamaha, well I have been riding since 1998 on my still owned RX100 (1987model)
Bought YZF R-15 on 2nd March, 2010. I have a thing for Black Color hence my both the bikes are
            black.

YZF-R-15 was purchased after a very detailed observation and discussions with some of the very
experienced riders. Special thanks to Sarvajit for helping me a lot in explaining the Bike before I
had it. I owe you for this.

My Bike has clocked 60112kms today while I am typing this. I have used this bike for both commuting,
some friendly races, and yes touring to places where its not supposed to go extensively in Himachal
            and Uttaranchal.

Apart from regular servicing, and changing the chain-set, brake pads, tyres, which is regular wear n
tear, nothing other than that was required to change on the bike. Yes last 15k kms was rough on her,
as had 2 crashes. One in city and one while touring.

Normally YZF-R15 is a racing track bike, but i have taken it to roads and conditions which are not
subscribed for the bike. I have toured for 4 days continously in rain and slush. I have taken it to
places which are not suitable for these bikes at all, i would prefer an offroad or atleast a dual
purpose bike for that. I have stuffed with luggage weighing more than 30kgs in my last trip which
for about a week. I havent been to Leh yet but I have been to Spiti and some other passes in
Himachal and Uttaranchal, which are at good altitudes, but my bike (Angel) never gave any problem
(touch wood). Angel has been my companion in all my trips with her and in every mood swing in every
            day life.

Things which I religiously follow with my bike:

            Servicing - every 3000km
Engine Oil - Yamalube Semi Synthetic 15w50
Chain Lube - between 1000 - 1300kms (in normal weather conditions)
Tightening Fairing Bolts - once in a month (or if I feel the vibration has increased)
            Air Pressure - once in a week. I keep 30psi-front and 35psi-rear.

Things which has been changed since the time of owning of the bike:

Brake Pads - more than 5 times, though cant remember the exact number.
Chain Set - Third chain set running, with Daytona chain this time.
Tyres - this is 4th set, I am very happy with the stock tyres.
Oil Filter - I get it changed every 2nd servicing or at 3rd servicing.
Air Filter - I get it changed every 4h servicing unless I am going for touring.
Headlight Assembly Cowl - Once due to fall in last tour.
Front Brake Lever - once due to fall in last tour.
Coolant - once got it flushed at 40k kms and got a new one in
Brake Fluids - replaced both at 40k kms
Battery - changed once in September 2012
Front Shocker - changed the front shocker oil at 50k
Clutch Wire - Changed at 35k
Front Indicators - changed it to flexi rear indicators and it helps a lot.

            Noise in Bike:

Engine - sounds more harsh than before
            Exhaust - has become louder
Clutch Bell - a very prominent sound, this will need replacement
            fairings - no noise.
any other - no she is still quite and smooth

            After 60k, the performance:

Speed - still touches 132kmph without any problem
Acceleration - not as it was when it was new, but still nothing to complain about, I am still loving
            it.
Disc Plates - have worn out but not that much that I need replacement.
            Braking - still perfect

List of the things which I will do in this servicing:

            Engine Oil - change completely
Air Filter - will check the condition
            Oil Filter - change
Brake Pads - change as it needs replacement
            Brake Oil - level check
            Chain - clean and lube
            Sprokets - check and clean
            Compression - check (thanks Vinit)
Coolant - Level check and top up
            Alignement - check (after servicing)
Clutch - check and if needs replacement then will get it done
            Spark Plug - change
            FI - clean
Monoshock - check and if needed will change it as i can feel it has gone stiff.
Front Shocks - check the inner spring and change if required.
Clutch Wire - check and lubricate
Swingarm Bush and Bearing - check and change as per the condition.

If there is anything else which I am missing from here, Guru let me know about it also would request
others to go ahead and advice me if I need to check anything else. Thanks.

My normal riding style is that i keep the bike in 5500-6500rpm unless i have to pull the bike or
ride hard, I take it above that. And yes there are big plans in the coming time. I am laying low
this year due to some personnal reason. Its been around 6mths with no tours, which has happened
after a very long time.... i.e. after 2008 its the longest break in my touring. I still enjoy riding
this amazing machine, and yes I trust her a lot, and she trusts me as well..... the respect is
            mutual.

first take the cylinder head to a good lathe shop and tell him to check the condition of valve ,like bent in the valve stem or pitting on the valve seat ,compression leak etc
if the pitting is normal then the valves are lapped with lapping compound and it work fine after that.
or if there is bent in valve or pitting is more or its seat cannot be cut-then you have to replace the valve and valve seat and valve stem oil seal!
an expert lathe person will sort it out easily and you will not need to worry!

                      • Has anyone used Simota air filter in their R15 (Standalone - without any other modifications)?

What are your observations? Is it just plug & play? Any thing needed to be done after installing the Simota air filter?

                        Thanks in advance.

                          not sure about exact price
I have this image but seems like the prices have changed. SVC people are quoting higher prices saying that prices have increased. So I need recent prices. Thank you.

                            • hi guys,

I have reverted my air filter back to stock recently, Now i cam across some things like the mileage has gone down by around 15% after putting the stock filter, APart from that the gear shifting also has become bit hard and there is frequent clutch slippage.

Apart from that i was also looking to upgrade the battery to higher amps, so was thinking if some mods can be done to the existing charger so it can charge the bigger battery.

Requesting your inputs on the same.

How can an airfilter cause clutch slippage ? Might be pointing to some other issue there ? Probably bad oil..maybe time for an oil change..all the symptoms suggests so.

                                Cheers
