The bike comes with clear lens indicator covers na. So why did you have to get the lens covers changed? (Unless the LED indicators come with yellow lens covers)

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

high beam is stock in my case..just some precautions like switching the light off while approaching a signal and not leaving it on while idling, etc. and you're good to go.. reaching ~13k on the odo now...

The LED ones come with a different kind of cover.

        • fellows, an (non)issue here..

while riding in 6th gear at ~4k rpms there is a constant hum from the engine, which used to go once revved further, doesn't sound bad though.. this has been there since i got the bike.
but since a a few months now, the sound extends all the way to 70kmph i.e. ~5k rpms in the 6th gear..it has even become louder..i can also hear it in other gears while riding at a constant speed above 4k rpms..
what could this noise be of???

I also get a hum including some vibes at any gear around 5-6k rpm but not above or below that.
Also chain is making sounds. cleaning and lubing helps but it comes back after 150-200kms. chain tensioner between 3 and 4.

            • 30,000km!

              Hi Guys,

Just crossed 30,000km on my 1 and a half year old R16. Went to Gokarna two weeks back, and now the handlebar feels strange (A lil tight at times and if I leave the handle while riding the bike seems to drift towards the right). Must've been the horrific roads, but I think the cone-set needs checking/greasing.

Also, any of you guys faced this problem of the tacho needle seeming 'loose'..? It isn't steady anymore.. Seems to oscillate a lil bit even at steady rpm. Other than that the bike is in perfect condition. What a quality product!

              Mods:
Joel's 165cc big-bore kit and Simota air filter (changed at 19,000km). Rear tyre changed to Ceat Vertigo 100/90-17. Joel's performance kit really wakes up the beast within the baby R-series, and the Ceat is the perfect touring tyre. Also trying out the experimental GT (Green Technology) Oil, that claims to negate oil changes! Will post feedback here.
A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

              • Ditto problem with my bike's handle too-I also need to get the cone set checked/greased.
About the tacho needle, sometimes it shows 0 even a few secs. after the bike has started&then suddenly leaps to 1.5K RPM or so. Slow response.
Other than this have not observed any other problem with the tacho.

what is your say about the Ceat tire? what about its compound? Grip levels may be lesser than the stock one on Good Roads but how is it on gravel and wet conditions compared to the stock tire?

If that happens just after starting the bike then its normal since you're starting the bike before the self check is complete..

grease everything upon approaching 10k kms...coneset, swingarm, wheel and steering bearings and everything that can be greased/lubed. clean FRONT and rear sprockets along with chain thoroughly. tighten Engine mount bolts, check spark plug

Check the speedo sensor as i had faced the same issue where suddenly the speedo used to show 0 where i am like 70ish speed.

@neo - hows vertigo while taking sharp corners and touring?

@vishnumusiq - check the brake pads too for worn out issues.

I always wait for the self check to get over but this happens once in a while when I start the bike as soon as the RPM needle swings back to 0&the radiator buzz is gone.

I have no speedo issues. This is minor so I'm ok with it. I also observe water droplets in the headlight area sometimes after rains, but that goes away the next morning. Same for the instrument console too.
I can live with small problems, but things like coneset, handle, leaking tyres etc. spoil the riding experience. This bike is very sensitive to such things&the difference is felt immediately.
On the other hand, unlubed/untightened chain etc. don't matter much as my chain has never been noisy.
But its time for a good service!

                            • Read in some threads(Ninja Ownership) that the speedo cable needs to be lubricated after some amount of time. do anyone know its symptoms on the YZF R15? since my last Service there's a wired sound coming from the front at 5-6k rpm in all gears.
                              please help

                                R15 doesn't have a speedo cable, just a sensor.
