As long as something works for each one, its not a concern. Well the road is not gonna know if you are using a 60W or HID on both sides..as long as you can see, it works.

              • First day R-15

I just bought a red r-15, and can say it's the best I've ever ridden. I thought initially it wont suit my body, my requirements, and it is just track ready scaled down r1, even thought of cancelling the order and getting an fz instead. But after riding 100 kms today, I can easily say this is another in list of great choices I've made. The ride is pure passion and music for the heart, the pull I feel, when I touched 6k RPM and 80 KMS/hr in less than 6 secs was too good.
I have one question, is it bad to ride in such rpms during the initial 1000 kms? Isn't R15 exempt from that rule? When I was talking with the service guy, he said this is electronically injected, and totally ride ready. Please advise on the initial everyday maintenance of my red tiger.
First Yamaha, R15, pure joy to my heart.

                  • @arzvi: Nothing wrong in occassianol bursts man! Even I did a burn-out and clocked 100 immediately once I took delivery. But for the first 250 - 300 km make sure u ride below the 6K rpm mark. That will do. Yeah, this is a great bike! Enjoy ur new ride...

                        • Hey guys, a new recruit here. Joined the r1-5 camp on the 18 jan after bidding goodbye to me 220. Well have to say I am not regretting my decision one bit. Have completed 650kms. as of today. Got the oil changed at 100kms. and did the normal run in procedure till then only, after that have shifted to occasional bursts of speed. Initial impressions down below:-

Positives:- The bike is purely top class stuff, very smooth, refined, braking so good that inspire loads of confidence. The handling is much better than i thought , Rossi here i come , on a short trip to kanpur i noticed that the bike got affected by side winds at low speeds, but at higher speeds the bike was rock steady. Acceleration really kicks in after 7000 till about 10000rpm. The needle swings so quickly between this band that i was caught unaware plenty a time and the bike bounced off the limiter. Also i never thought stoppies were so darn easy. Avg I am getting is around 32kmpl.

Negatives:- The low end sucks, city riding is very difficult as compared to the 220. Also being liquid cooled the bike really heats up when still in a jam or when riding slowly. Also some vibrations have crept in from the fairing , will get them sorted out during service alongwith the gears becoming a little hard. The horn of a cd deluxe is louder then our r1-5 and it gets even quieter on high beam, which in itself are not that useful on the highway.

At the end would just say , that I am absolutely loving the bike with positives outweighing the negatives by a huge margin. I can easily say i did not go wrong with this choice of mine.

Tune the horn with the adjusting screw and it will become loud enough.
