short ride to kandaghat nh22
was waiting to go for a long ride but couldnt go because of my accident. so woke up on 8th october and realised that the time is running out .after this there will be holiday season and then winter will set in so had to go for a ride before that. so decided that today is the day.
9.30am started from ludhiana .had enough petrol. took a rain suit and camera.got the tyre pressure checked and air filled in them .now i was on the canal road .nice road but lot of cross winds. calling out for help to all sardar riders what do you prefer to wear as a visor to protect your face from all the dust and bugs hitting . because of the canal route there was lot of small insects which hit you plus i did a mistake of wearing half sleeve t-shirt my arms were also recieving small needle pricks.reached doraha and on to neelon and then on the ludhiana chandigarh road. samrala-morinda -kharar -mohali.
on the highway lot of dust and smoke from the buses and trucks
11.15am reached mohali .had a pit stop at verka milk plant evacuated my bladder and drank lassi. and then onward for the hills.got petrol filled at panchkula cos it is about 4rs cheaper than punjab.crossed pinjore .kalka had some traffic jam as usual but now i was on a bike and zig zagged and soon i was out of there reached parwanoo .the roads here were bad.soon i was at timber trail resorts thought of making a stop . parked the bike and took out my camera when i switched it on the message flicked 'replace the battery pack'.i was wtfbecause of my busy schedule and unplanned trip i had forgot to charge the battery so sorry guys no pics.
now the fun started the roads were good and the bike ,well what can i say this bike is meant to be taken to good mountain roads and enjoy the turns . even a novice rider could bend the bike a lot i dont know what some of the trained riders will do. once i got a scare i thougth my speed i high and will overshoot the turn but i shifted my weight and the bike easily negotiated it ,very confidence aspiring. and the tires are so good no skidding on tarmac they stick well.
reached kandaghat at 2.15pm this was my time limit i had to return from here so that i can reach home at about 7 pm. i had wasted lot of time in between because of the numerous calls i got from my staff about the patients and their medicines (since dengue is epidemic in ludhiana).so i turned back had my lunch at the first dhaba that i saw (lovely snack and food) nothing much to say about the food ok dal and roties cost me 40rs.after lunch at 2.40 pm is started back .the wind was chilly thought about wearing the rain suit jacked but then cancelled.on returning i took the road via barog it is narrow and in not that good condition. at 4.15 i was at timber trail. had coffe .which was bad and costed 50rs.on return lot of traffic jam at parwanoo , pinjore and kalka but being on bike i has its advantages. at punchkula enterance the cops stopped me papers were in order and so let me go. after that it was uneventful return. back home at 7.40 pm. the light of r15 has good spread but poor focus and intensity. i would prefer a light which is more focussed and bright. saw my face it was all dirty because of the dirt washed it and saw that i was tanned so were my forearms .
overall a good experience and outing.now back to boring routine

@sk8er:
i got the last set of available blue colour brake/clutch lever from ambal motors on tuesday...however the other accessories like the bar end, center bolt cap, muffler cap(in blue colour) are still available and you can contact them if you need any..
i feel that the blue levers will look best on the blue bike and its best you wait and get them...

My 1400kms report!
So my 2 weeks old bike has clocked 1300 in 5 days and just 100kms in the last 8-9 days. Havent changed the oil and oil filter. I dont prefer taking my bikes to any of these stupid dealers, so would work on my bikes myself. Especially the yamaha guys at orion Suck big time. I had such a bad experience during delivery itself. So I've picked an oil filter (sheesh 430rs is expensive, its a damn paper filter only)
My running-in cycle was 200kms of calm riding with revs below 7k rpm. Then on my pace upped. From about 300kms, the bike was hitting top-speeds and then was an extensive 750kms ride in a single day.
So at 1400, the oil is still the same without changing. Will be working on the engine tomorrow to get things going a bit faster.
and changing to a Fully synth engine oil.
I have already thrashed the R15 on track and the biggest point was the superb handling. I prefer not to ride the bike too much in the streets as the time needed to travel is much more than my RTR, stance of the bike and peppiness matters a lot. The RTR can be thrown, raped, jumped all over the bumps and does everything with a charm, the R15 is simply hesitant. Anyways its not meant to do that.
The stock bike is hopelessly underpowered and feels like shiit over my RTR which is 10 times more lively and eager, hence prefer riding my RTR on streets. With a pillion the bike hits a new definition for sluggishness. Takes ages to do the speeds I want.
However I almost forget everything when the bike hits a corner. It gets into its own league. Turns like nobody's business and simply outclasses all others, with only the RTR closely matching it.
So its time for me to talk about whats good and whats not.
The good bits,
*Superb handling, wheelbase is spot-on
*Tyres are brilliant, No words
*Refinement is again good, typical japanese
*Decent lighting (if not great)
*Very flickable and feels light (although looks heavy)
*Wheels are hollow alloys and hence reduce unsprung mass heavily
*Awesome top-speed stability
*Braking is one of the best in the country, I mean the front only (rear is OK)
*Superb suspension set-up, very clean damping on track during high speed turns
*Good riding posture
*Seats feels very supportive and comfortable
*A silent motor, decently fuel efficient
*Good for mile munching, can do 100+ decently.
*perfect track ettiquettes and riding posture
The bad bits,
*Hopelessly underpowered motor
*This 15bhp mill needs a lot of kicks to get lively
*Very tall geared, wont peak at all in higher gears (U need a salt lake
)
*The long stroke motor spoils the party, very bad power band
*Cam-ed wrongly for the engine structure, hence very peaky
*Rear brake feels a tad spongy
*A very silent and buzzy motor
*Expensive spares (Engine bits)
*The rear is the bike looks hopelessly un-exciting.
*The brick-wall rev-limiter spoils the face of a YZF series bike (Anyways that motor cant rev too much)
So tomorrow, I have decided to work around a few things to make it a little more lively. Will post results later. Anyways, sunday will have a speedcheck session. Have given details to Mithun.
