EDIT: Plus the bike does'nt respond negatively when i flick it left and right negociating (<<is this the right spelling??) through traffic, believe me i've tried it
Thats P200 understeering due to its long wheelbase, lesser aero dynamics and softer suspension. I experience the same. Had a scare when i cornered a left hander on the highway at 115, started from the right side touched the apex of the left hander and on the exit it just kept going towards the median.

Hope the next UG IV comes with more aero dynamics and better handling.

    OT
Just to tell you how much aero, matters.
My friend plonked in R15's fairing on his apache 150.
Guess what i touched 138 on the speedo, because of that mod alone.
    OT

    • ^^^ just aero dynamics mod.. took the stock rtr to 138?? wouldn't that also act as bit of air-resistance?? ughhhh

Ok with my 200 on 24k kms old stock tyres.. i agree the cornering has sufferred alot.. but what's up with.. after 120 kmph when i crouch.. the tail wags alot.. what could be the reason??

        i agree with you.

on a 600m track, my bike just can reach 107-108kmh
while crouching behind that small windshield, i can reach about 110-111kmh.

We are getting OT now. Lets not compare Apache 150 with RTR, the former doesnt have such a good engine.

Yes after 120KPH the bike will start to feel nervous because of its ultra soft suspension. Try doing the same after you set the suspension to the hardest or one less than hardest. If you still face the same prob, then its time to change your rear tires, check the thread depth though before you change the tyres.

I always felt that the wind protection should have been better in the bike, there is absolutely no wind protection at all at high speeds. I am pretty sure given the gearing, with a fairing like R15, P200 should easily do a true speed of 145+.

I had posted a youtube video 5-10 pages ago, with a guy clocking 141KPH. I am still not convinced how he could manage that. Few days ago i saw another guy doing the same.

          • @rohit: What was the odo reading of your P-200 when you started to use the Motul fully synthetic oil for the first time? My P-200 has done 7,200kms. on the odo, and I plan to shift to Motul fully synthetic once it touches the 10,000kms. mark.
            :)

I started with semi synthetic and still using semi synthetic only. Synthetic is a coslty affair for me
I started with motul5100 since as soon as my free service got over at 10k kms and another 1000kms and then shifted finally to 5100.
Once your free services are over PBK have no concern for the oil. I used to take my oil during the service.
you can start up with 5100 if your free services are over
              its all about CC...

I am done with all my free servicings anyways.. I guess from the next servicing, which would be my P-200's first paid service, I would take the semi-synthetic Motul 5100 with me. Let me first start by semi-synthetics and notice the difference.

P.S: Please PM me your cell number, I am sure I would need to call you to procure the Motul lubricants..

                • I am using the 5100. 325 mrp but got it at 600 for 2 bottles. A big jump over the regular Castrol but no where close to the 300v. Worth the investment considering the cost. Changing my oil tomorrow after it clocked 20k yesterday.

Guys, how about using the fZ handle bars on the 200? The FZ handle bars are darned comfortable! There is no way you can use the FZ tires on a 200, the chain/chainguard would start making contact with the tire. Handle bars look like a viable option and the radius of the bars look similar too.

Won't the FZ's bars go lower than the stock bars? The FZ's bars are close to a straight and you probably would need to put spacers of some kind to be able to bring it up to the normal position, without which you'll be hunching over bigtime, which is not advisable because the weight of the whole upper torso will be on your palms, and will give you hell. As for the tyres, why not? The tyres are wider than the rim because of the profile (140/60), and therefore when you fit it onto the 200, the tyres will be a bit rounded than it usually is on an FZ, so it should'nt foul with the chain, there is a 200 here with the FZ's tyres in them, i'll post more details after asking his feedback

Oh, thats good news man. Please find out about the tires and post some pictures too. But do they look as neat as how they do on the FZ? Would it be better shifting to them compared to the stock size? As for the handle bars, is it really going to be that bad? I mean, wont it still be ok? Ill find out the cost and if its around 300 then i'll shift and see how it feels and revert to original if its a messed up position.

                      • I'm yet to see the 200 with the 140/60 tyres in them, but will let you know as soon as i find out, about the bars, they are flatter than the normal 200's for sure, but it all boils down to preference, if you are on the high side of 185cms in height then probably putting an Fz's bars would create discomfort, and i don't see any reason why the bars should be costing more than 300~350 rupees, but will check that out anyway just to be sure

We'll i'v checked out a few handle bars and they did not cost more than a few hundred bucks. Its just a handle bar after all. Consiering Yamaha I would see it around the 500 region.

Ah! i did'nt see that coming, yes considering Yamaha "brand status" (i might regret using the quotes but what the heck!!) they might just price it 500 bucks for a piece of bent metal rod, better you check it out personally from them

you can shift to semi synthtetic oil whenevr you want..there is no rule as such that you can change only after 10k kms or so.....i had used PBK's mineral oil just once n that too when my new bke had clocked around 200kms(odo)....aftr that i used Valvoline semi synthetic twice starting from the first service itself...then directly shifted to motul 300V at around 2200kms....never faced any probs with the bike n nt even any leakages....the bike and the shifting was butter smooth all throughout and was in as good condition as you would want it to be......
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........
