Since the difference from user point of view between the specs is the heat range it can take or to be precise the boiling point, you can happily try the Dot4. But then, it is just a specification and various oils available in the market might have much higher boiling points than the rating... (the rating mentions the base material too). I have seen a Bosch DOT4 500 Ml for under Rs 100 and a Motul DOT 4 250 ML for Rs 250Originally posted by EL LOCO DIABLO View PostHas anyone here used DOT4 brake fluid? I'm planning on putting it the next time the brake fluid needs a top-up, it's supposed to be semi-synthetic (if there's a DOT-5 then it is
), any comments would be helpful

The reason for shifting from DOT-3 to 4 is because the brake lately, is not as responsive as it used to be whilst the first few mm's of it's travel, the brake has gotten progressive (i like my brakes grabby) and i need to really mash 'em up when i'm braking from a high speedI'm too intelligent to the unintended, and too dumb for the obvious.

^hanx- looking forward to a performance run video..
Update: went to PBK and got the head mech to have a look at my "assumed T-stem bearing" issue.. He said there is no issue with the bearing.. Just loosened the T-stem nut, adjusted the bearing
and voila... like i never had a problem before
hehe.. have no idea why that happened.. but he didnt do too much adjustment, hardly spent 3 mins on loosening nut-slight adjustment of either the bearing /the washer underneath the nut and tightened the nut... did the same check i did on main stand and he took it for a spin and says done!
eitherways.. problem tackled for now!
odo reading 1000kms

Hi Mates
Hi Mates,
After being a silent member for a long long time here's a longish post. I came across a lot of opinions and some non-favorable ratings pertaining to this bike. But had to take some with a pinch of salt. I still went ahead and bought it last March. Till date after numerous long trips where she's been thrashed around and two minor falls I have absolutely no complaints, no breakdowns, no major kharcha whatsever (touch wood). It's been 10 months and 15000 KMs on the odo as of 28th of January.
I've been touring a bit on the 200. Last May with just 1800 KMs on the odo I did my first "long ride". Pune - Hampi - Pune. Totally covered about 1400 KMs in those three days. Not much I know but for my first time it was a total high. My experience was out of this world. The comfort, the cruising capabilities had me smiling throughout the journey.
Below a picture somewhere in Hampi
Then over the course of the year a ride to Goa through the Phonda Ghat and then the infamous Konkan strip Malvan, Dapoli etc.
Below a picture somewhere after the Phonda Ghat
I got her all serviced on Saturday. Few things I got done were:
1. Changed Air Filter
2. Changed Oil Filter
3. Changed Fork Oil
Besides, it's still a treat and she still purrs like she just came off the Factory Assembly Line.
Below a picture somewhere early in the morn on the way to Ambey Valley
The exhaust had a little rust where the clamp joins the head. So I left my silencer for the PBK guys to inspect and for testing purposes they've fixed a brand new one onto my bike. After this change the initial thrust has changed considerably and just she flies. I doubt they would but I hope they let me keep this one ;-)
Bottom line: I'm totally happy with the Bajaj Pulsar 200 DTSi
cheers,

@Dominic AFAIK there is no oil filter in the bike, its only a oil strainer (which can be cleaned), correct me if otherwise.
@All
Suggest some ways of replacing the silencer under warranty
(It has lot of scratches and has blackened where the exhaust pipe joins the silencer)
Can i claim insurance after warranty expires, if it goes kaput
