  • had this pretty strange issue... odo reading 1600kms...
decided to push her a little.. and was riding at ~6k rpm on the 4th cog... and suddenly the bike jerks and shoots... saw the meter i was on 7krpm in a seconds time... happened around 3 times till now.. doesnt happen always though... for example yesterday and today no issues whatsoever... carb block? ecu issue? what could be the problem..
Oh disclaimer.. no issues with it shooting.. its the "jerk and shoot" which i have a problem with!!

Is it happening now or was it so ever since?

Does it happen to one side or does it happen to both the sides?

Either way, if you had opened the front forks recently for anything like oil seals, fork oil, cone set or anything else it is, may be the forks are overtightened.

If is is happening to one side, and there is no forks problem, check the rear tyre alignment

If nothing works out, it is just the Pulsars :P

as u guessed it, check the entire fuel line.

On another thought, at 1600 KMs may be your bike is not yet fully opened up...

^ yeah.. am guessing its the "not opened yet" reason... but gotta check out the fuel lines... it doesn't feel restrictive though (as in parched for fuel).. gotta finish the run in and take her on a spirited ride post 2nd service! Thanks for the input!

it has been like this frm the begining.turning right was a real pain and my bike used to feel twitchy on right hand turns....but of late the prob has increased.yes i got my front fork oil replaced a few months back.i thought that this might be causing the problem but after getting it checked the prob still presists.i knw that the pulsars dont handel too well but i knw for a fact that its not this bad.

No offence bro but i'm not new to the world of pulsars....i'v ridden the 150 dtsi extensively and have been riding my p200 for the past year and 4 months.Regarding the 220, it feels absolutely stable in corners as compared to my bike.that was one of the reasons that i started to feel like something is wrong with my bike, after riding the 220.it turns into corners without a hitch whereas my bike, u littreally have to push her into a corner.she fights when i try to turn in.and this is not just my feeling.i'v had one of my frnds rid my bike and got the same response from him.

Make sure you get this problem entered into job cards.

It could even be the ignition system - spark plugs, coil or the CDI!

Of late am ride my 200 very sanely. Since am still studing and fuel my own bike by working part time...need to burn every drop of fuel........so i prefer fewer gear shifts and wenever i slow down from 55 to say 40 coz of traffic of watever i try to slwly chug away instead of downshifting to save fuel....LOL wat else u'd expect......

neway i tried this today wanted to know the bikes low end capabilites and torque abilities FULL EXPERIMENT DONE IN 5TH COG ON A STRAIGHT ROAD

......... let the bike go to 30 and slwoly tried to chug away......it pulled WITH NO HEADACHES.....
then went down to 25 and pulled the throttle slwly....Guess wat it pulled again without a knock....
then 23 same story pulled again..by now rpm's were like 2000......was damn impressed......decided to take her into he teens slowled all the way down to 19 at 1800 rpm....and guess wat she pulled...a slight knock was dere which is very normal i feel......so there u go a small experimental observation again that i have done and this time with the torque and pulling power tested.and boy how she responded right from 1800 rpm on the 5th cog (19kmph) to 68 at 5K rpm's.....still feel that the bottom end needs to be crunched up a bit like for eg the rtr's.......

i dont recomend this for day to day riding coz it will jack up all major components of the engine...

Best speed and rpm ratios obtained by me so far on my P200

                    74kph - 5000 rpm (rider+pillion)
                    86-88 kph - 6000rpm (rider+pillion)
101kph - 7000rpm (rider) havent tried this with pillion so far.

I am feeling little bit of vibrations in my bike while in the speed band of 60-70kph. Anyone else has also felt that?
Once the bike moves over this band the vibrations are gone.
                    My thoughts...

Dude you are merely voicing the issues that are already on the the minds of almost all the 200 owners, the bike is just too heavy to be flicked into the corner with fervor with which you would flick a RTR, what i'm meaning is the the layout is in such a way on the Pulsars that the C.O.G is higher than most track-ready bikes, if you look closely at the RTR or the R15 you'll understand, these bikes sit a lot lower to the ground than the Pulsar, also the front forks of these bikes a a tad bit stiffer than ours. Regarding the statement in bold, yes you have to get out of your bike and intentionally shift weight into the curve your make it corner, and you can also try stiffening the rear springs by a few notches this helps the bike from wobbling uneasily during cornering to a certain extent. Hope the post is proper this time

                        • Update - Last night on my way back from office- got a small empty stretch and pushed her... 3rd cog 7k rpm no jerks etc.. 4th cog 7k rpm no issues... had to throttle down after shifting to the 5th! so am not really sure what this issue is/was!
Will mention it to them and see what they have to say!

oh i hate the stock rubbers! gotta move on to IRC or mich!

Have you changed the tires? If not, then the speeds/rpm you have quoted is very optimistic.
Can other P200 owners confirm this? Or is this a one off case?
