    Hey mate,
Sorry for the late reply! Ok, the IRC's are far the best that i've ridden! Although the downside is that they are a bit heavy to maneuver in the traffic and corners! But, one will get used to it soon! Btw. after the change of 220's forks with additional 10ml of fork oil, the handling issues with the IRC's was history!

        • yeah of late i've been really happy with the way my bike's going. Except for slightly laggy rear brake, everything else is good.

Average's 41-43 kmpl and the Motul 300V has done a good 4000 odd km so far since the last oil change.

The only niggly part i find is the gearshift that requires regular cleaning since it gets really hard and "sticky" to shift. I've been told it's because of dirt and dust clogging it up.

I initially wanted to get the clipons done, but someone advised against it.. and also because i wasnt sure if there was any direct fit possible from the newer pulsar models to the older 200.

how do you manage to get that mileage of 42kmpl.. wheas i just get up to 32 or 35 at the max.. does the oil have anything to do with the mileage.

I used fully synthetic oil as well and have never gotten more than 35 in the city, I believe it has a lot to do with the riding style as well!
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use a lotta fuel.

                Totally true.

The max I have extracted from my P200 is 52km/litre with really sane riding. And not once, I have got this figure multiple times. The minimum fuel efficiency figure for my P200 has been 46km/litre.

                • yes it does depend on the riding style & traffic congestion, thats the best i can put it down to. The number of gear shifts & clutch use significantly impacts it too. In mumbai, you really dont get a chance to stretch the 200's legs decently at all or for that matter, any decent bike.

My daily commute is around 14km's each way, total distance of around 18km's. It takes me around 25mins to complete one way, depending on traffic but usually is around 25mins. So you get an idea of the average speed per hour.

Of my riding style, i usually pull the 2nd, 3rd and 4th smooth and pretty high up to 6k rpm mark before shifting while my high speed cruises are usually at 65-70 kmph average with short bursts to 80. I dont go beyond 80 due to the pathetic condition of almost every road in Mumbai. I dont like the combination of water, gravel, oil spills, glass shards and ofcourse the famous uneven surfacing of the roads in mumbai to try and even think of pushing it beyond 80. As if these were not enough, some wise idiot in BMC has decided that large flat metal sheets but with borders as thick as 2 inches, can just be laid out on uneven patches of road to save him the bother of actually doing up the road. All you need to achieve a nasty slide and fall, is to hit those metal sheets at the wrong angle and high speeds and you're sure to be a passenger for the rest of the distance till you hit mother earth.

Additionally as far as possible on free sections of roads where you dont need to keep pace at a constant speed (like you need to keep pace on the highway) i use the rollout as much as possible, using power as much as needed and not accelerate the full way. Same while slowing down.. i plan the roll rather than accelerate and then brake (you only use more fuel for nothing that way).

Finally i've always been conscious to switch off the engine whenever im standing still at signals or stuck in traffic. Trust me, i really believe people can save a LOT of money by simply switching off the bike at extended halts.

The average singnal duration in Mumbai would be a good 45secs to a minute, infact i've been coming across increasingly long signals (some as much as 2-3mins) thanks to n number of roads being dug up and main routes being congested/diverted.

As far as the oil goes, i can vouch for MOTUL 300v. The difference not only in terms of engine response but also throttle smoothness is just immediately noticeable from Castrol. How far it affects mileage, i cant definitely say but yeah.. i did average in the 37-39 kmpl on Castrol earlier, but that was during the run in period too..
