    Guys,
    I am riding 40kms daily and i am quite fed up with the exhaust sound.Planning to change the exhaust sound with K&N filter.
    sound is my first priority and performance increase and mileage will be an added bonus..

    So please suggest me a good model among RC1060 or R1060 or R1100?
    All i just want is some decent exhaust note...something like fiero. no loud exhaust sound.I am riding a karnataka registration vehicle in chennai so i don't want to be an easy target for police.

    I went to one of the K&N installers in chennai and he showed me the above mentioned filters..but he does not know the difference between the 3.so thought of asking for all your help.
    He also showed me one chinese filter for 500rs..just to increase sound.is it advisable?

    Please help.

      Mate, if you ride 40 km a day and fuel economy is an issue then i wouldn't suggest a K&N filter. Also you should know the exhaust note doesn't change because of this. Simply put: The K&N filter allows your bike to breathe more freely, for which you have to compensate with more fuel low to the engine via a larger jet in your carburetor, without which you'll be running on a lean mixture (Not good). You should also know that maintainance costs and trouble will increase. In short, PROS: your bikes pick up and top speed will increase a little, it will breathe more freely and will sound absolutely scintillating (according to me). CONS: Drop in fuel economy by approx 4-5km/liter, higher and more frequent maintainance also sometimes it may cause faulty firing. Nothing too serious though.

      P.s. Never go in for cheap alternatives they WILL damage your bike in the long run. Take care of your machine and it'll never let you down.

      If you intend to go in for a K&N, install an R1100. It's the best one and compliments the P200 well.

        I would strongly sugest to use NULON every 5k-10K kms...Its much better than both of them and cost a mere rs.100

        • ^ Oh no I got ripped off...220 bucks for the Nano coating
          Will keep this in mind for next time.

          But the bike is definitely, perceptibly smoother. Lets see for how long.


          What is weird is that in Bangalore none of the service centers knew about this or used this (Nano or Bardahl or Nulon)...my bike has run ~20K and this is the first time I used it.

          • @Tanay: As Rohit Mundra said just above your post, it is pure and utter crap; nothing more-nothing less! There is absolutely NO need to use any additive with the engine oil. They had tried to use it again and again on my bike, whenever I have got it serviced, but EACH time I have specifically asked them NOT to use it on my motorcycle. And quite surprisingly, this so called 'additive' is only used in the Delhi/ NCR service stations...Pure crap, I say!

              Hi Friends,

              My friend is having a pulsar 200 and its giving a strange problem, there is a tik tik sound form the engine just under the riding position(it is not a chain sound as there is no sound when we hold the clutch). the sound frequency increases with speed. Have any one ecountered the same problem, please help

              P.S. the bike has done 12K

                Ask ur friend to adjust the Tappets and also check valve clearance! Nothing to worry about!

                • The tik tik noise is not only the valve clearence noise.. i have heard from a mech that when the block piston is near to get kaput then it makes that noise...
                  though i'm not sure about that

                    1> I guess my cone set needs replacement..as it makes a lot sound TAK TAK...how much would it cost me ???

                    2> pro biking mechanic told me tht "pura handle ka kaam karna padega.(HINDI)" What and all are the things included in handling repair..

                    3>have done 37k km and bike is 2 1/2 yrs old. When am i suppose to change the tyre ??? as my daily ride is 40km..

                    4> what is minimum size of jet require by K&N RC-1060.

                    And yes please can somebody post the rpm-speed-gear table ..i mean at which gear at what rpm speed should be "X"

                      60 at 4000 RPM in 5th gear
                      90 at 6000 RPM in 5th gear

                      Don't know these speeds are ok or not ok. hope some one will help me

                        Handle has some list of parts to be changed, Cone set,ball bearings,Rings,Bushings.
                        For K&N, also check the other model R-1100,as per ur requirement n satisfaction.
                        And there is a procedure for upjetting with series of tests whether the bike requires upjetting or not!
                        I hv a question:
                        How do we find if the bike is really running LEAN???

                          These r perfect figures my friend.
                          In 5th gear, mine does:
                          56 at 4000RPM
                          85 at 6000RPM
                          (My odo is 19.58K kms)

                            I guess these are fine, I used to get these on my 200 right from after the run-in phase (11 months old), though lately its gone down to 85 kmph at 6000 rpm on 5th gear.

                                No idea about repair costs, you will have to consult PBK as they will assess whether it can be repaired or a new one is needed. A new one is approximately Rs 8500.
